Car repairs are something i try to do on my own when i can but my world keeps getting busier and the vehicles more complicated. I heard from a co worker that this company works on their work vehicles and has a record of being fast and extremely thorough. I dropped by to get an idea an idea of what it would cost to fix some of the problems my vehicle has been developing and what other services might bring a little life back into a truck ive grown extremely fond of. Their service team was extremely friendly and helpful in directing me through a plan to get my truck operating the way it used to. While they looked into the steering issue i came in for i engaged in a conversation with one of the younger technicians. As he was pulling tires off a delivery truck he mentioned how he had been hired a few months prior and was taken off guard by how engaged this company is in the development of its employees and how much time they spend as a team to work on new methods and techniques to stay ahead of the curve. Off he went to shadow the inspection they were set to do on my vehicle. Its not often that you see a company show itself to be a community and from what i could tell there was some pretty eager knowledgeable members sharing skills and information. I came back in the afternoon to get my truck and a list of fixes that would improve my experience. I booked in the next week for a few that i could afford at the time and they took care of it quickly and at a reasonable rate. Got my truck back nice and clean and it feels like it pumped years of life back into how it drives. Was absolutely fantastic dealing with this company and i feel good about supporting such a connected and knowledgeable group of people. Great job! read more

Initially I didn't want to post a review but after having our vehicle subjected to further repairs, I was compelled to give some insight on our experience with Napa AutoPro / Gears Plus. This place was recommended by my friend as I was looking for a place that could do top quality work, while having the mind that I don't mind paying extra for difficult jobs. The task at hand was a re:re of a short-block motor for our Dodge Van so no easy feat. Not related to the workmanship, I should say the owner's wife in my opinion was a bit deceptive in their quoting for the job. The engine core charge was not spelled out on the printed quotation though verbally from the beginning, they did say they would refund us a core charge. The owner Jeff made it clear about the core charge process (verbally). After the work was done and paid, I enquired about the core charge and his wife (that runs the desk) told us at the time we picked up the van that we will hear from her in 2 weeks time (when Jasper Engines refunds the $) Then few days later she emailed saying that we would not receive any core charge refund as it was not stated on the printed quotation. VERY deceptive and it makes me wonder if they planned out their quotations that way? Now for workmanship. I did not have time to fully go over the repairs as we had to quickly leave on the road trip. But during the 1st required oil change at 500 miles, the oil change shop pointed out that the pulley on the engine's alternator had been damaged and asked if we knew about it. A chunk of the metal had broken off but did not appear it would affect the performance of the serpentine belt. I was certain this happened at Napa Pro / Gears Plus because the motor they took out was original to the van (likewise with the alternator). Furthermore, the side of the van passenger fender had some damage marks. I've yet to discover more problems as time goes on but I wouldn't be surprised. Yes we had our right to go back to them to address these issues but my feeling of their overall service was nothing more than to get as many customers in and get as many customers out type of deal. They go out to say they do a proper job but in all fairness, their mechanics are really no different to any other. They make mistakes and possibly try not to own up to it until the customer comes back. Jeff the owner may not be aware of these problems but as i've told him many times, the work done is ONLY as goods as the person on the job (every person has different abilities and levels of being lazy). I should add that if there was any benefit I got out of this place, I must say it was the $240 paid to do the full initial inspection which listed costs and repairs required. New wheel brake cylinders, transmission flush, suspension, alignment, etc, despite I was only interested in skilled work specifically, replacing the engine. It saved me time to diagnose so I just went ahead and addressed the repairs myself. The quotation for all these other repairs were not cheap. For example a transmission flush and band adjustment was a whopping $360+tax. While 2 doors down to Nechako Transmission, they did a full flush & band adjustment and test for only $160 (they were impressed of the high mileage done on our van and said, the more often you change, the longer it lasts). I would only be a fool to let Napa / Gears Plus to do ALL of the repairs as shown on their inspection / quotation list. But knowing that they were priced on the ultra high end, I only wanted them to do the engine swap and I assumed their standard of workmanship was top notch. As how things turned out, well.... you don't pay for what you get. My experience shows that it's good that I can do repairs myself. Of the jobs that can be done at home, more power to those that do because garage mechanics are only human like back yard mechanics. It's acceptable for car owners to do their own repairs and make mistakes. But by profession, if you pay top $ for the work done, you would expect better work done by the professionals. read more
