My car has required a new muffler/resonator for some time now and I have been putting it off for a…read morewhile, in some small part because I didn't know who to go to get it fixed in PG...I've had a number of negative experiences with mechanics in town who are condescending, impatient, and are not thorough in their explanation to me of their assessment of what needs to be repaired on my car....I chalked it up to them treating me as such because I am a woman. So I was pleasantly surprised when Bill Papp, owner of Minute Muffler and Brake not only quoted me $140 LESS than the competition for the same service he also explained clearly to me the work that needed to be completed on my car. He also helped me locate a PCV valve from the autowrecker (only $15 vis-a-vis a new part that would have been more than $130) and he put it in my car "gratis"....Importantly, he treated me like a human being and a customer he valued and respected, from my experience a rare treat for a woman seeking auto repairs in PG. Thanks Bill! My only slight suggestion/the reason I did not make the review a full 5/5 stars is that I think it would have been valuable to have had a more thorough look through my entire exhaust system....that may have shown that the PCV valve change was what was needing to be changed to meet my immediate need (the smell of exhaust in the cab of my car) vis-a-vis the exhaust/resonator change (the much more expensive fix that I may have been able to put off a little longer)...but nevertheless it did need to be changed. I needed a new battery and was super impressed with the original 2017 battery that I used up till today, so I decided to call PG Toyota. I asked the woman that answered to transfer me to parts and she instructed me that they were super busy, which is understandable since I was probably not the only one having problems today. She took a message for me regarding the battery and if one was in stock. I did mention that I need my truck for work so I need a battery ASAP and that I would come purchase it and install it myself if they had one in stock. 2 hours go by with no response and I need to get back to work, so I call up NAPA, find out they have what I need, and go there to purchase one of their batteries. I love my Toyota and forever will, but with 9 hours later with no response from the dealership, I realize that I'm just another customer to them as usual. I wear the Toyota badge with pride and like to keep the parts OEM as possible... this was not able to happen today.

Brought my 2020 tundra in for its first service and to have remote start installed. Was quoted 3…read morehours and that I would be called when it was done. I ended up calling after 6 hours to find out it was finished and they just hadn't contacted me yet. Remote start was installed incorrectly; it sets the security alarm off unless left unlocked. Contact them the following day, they get me to bring it back in, then taxi me back to work. I get a call saying its all good to go now and they checked to make sure. First thing I do when i get there is que the remote start, alarm goes off. No solution or restitution offered other than ok we will drive you back to work and see if we can fix it. Extensive amount of time wasted by their poor business practices, and still no solution.

At our next stop, had a local shop check the brakes and found they needed new front pads. However, the shop there would not have been able to fit us in for four days, which would have completely scrambled our plans. So, started calling shops ahead on our route to see if anyone could help us out. The minute Cory picked up the phone, I knew we were in competent hands. I explained the problem and told him we'd be in Prince George in a couple of days. He said "no problem", asked a couple of the right questions, and told me he could order pads to be ready when we got there. A couple days later, I rolled into Benchmark at 8 AM when they opened. Met Cory and the rest of the crew, and they told me they'd get right on it. They had me out and on the road by 10 AM, and much relieved at their helpfulness and conscientiousness. If I lived in Prince George, they'd be my regular shop!

Got back to the van after shopping and my sister in the car was sitting there with the ac on but…read morethe van wasn't fully on. The battery was dead. walked to princess auto for jumpers and they were out. Called Benchmark and they saved our day. In minutes they picked us up from Princess Auto, took us to where we were parked and gave a jump in seconds. So happy they could do that for us. Super friendly staff and quick responses. I brought my vehicle to HAF Tire & Service to have an oil leak repaired. During the repair, I…read morereceived a call advising me that my A/C belt had been removed and that they were unable to install a new one because it required a special Subaru tool that they wanted me to purchase for them to keep!?! I declined the additional work and asked them to sell me the new belt and I would install it myself. When I picked up my vehicle, the air conditioning no longer worked. I later discovered that the original A/C belt had never been removed and was still installed, despite being told otherwise. This meant I had purchased a replacement belt that was not needed. I had to complete a road trip without air conditioning because I believed the issue was related to the belt. Once I arrived, we inspected the system and found the bolts securing the A/C hoses to the compressor were only finger-tight. The refrigerant had leaked from that connection. After tightening the bolts and trying recharging the system, the A/C worked again. I contacted HAF Tire & Service to discuss these findings. They denied removing the belt, denied working on the A/C system, and declined to take responsibility for the unnecessary belt purchase and the loose A/C hose connections. I understand that unexpected issues can arise during vehicle repairs, but lying to and misleading a customer is unacceptable. I expect accurate and clear communication about the work performed and a willingness to investigate concerns when a problem appears immediately after service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.
