My truck is hardly used and I don't pull a trailer or abuse this truck. On a family vacation in July 2023 my truck broke down. Over $1000.00 to get it towed back to Edmonton just to have my mechanic tell me the transmission was shot. 21000kms!!!!!!!!! And the transmission was shot????????? I realize the warranty is for 2 years or 40000kms but 21000kms is ridiculous. The mechanics I talked to agreed that a transmission should not only last 21000kms even after the 2 year warranty expires. Needless to say , i was not impressed. I called Can west to see what they could do to help me out. Well, they didn't seem to interested because ''' it's past the two year warranty''. They said they would pay for labour but I still had to pay for parts. $2600.00 later....Can West also stated that the problem was the parts in the transmission[which they replaced in 2020]. I called another transmission company and they quoted me $2600.00-$2800.00. So I'm not really sure what I saved???? Tow truck ,mechanic, new transmission, waste of time. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Bottom line : I'm out $4000.00 for a Transmission that lasted 21000kms. I would recommend you go elsewhere.

Works well with no complaints. Family run business where trust is everything. They work with you not against you. Gives you a fuzzy feeling. Sure the waiting room is small and the coffee maker needs replacing; but do you want transmission or being fleeced out of thousands. Ford wanted 6000.00 without a firm estimate. My bill was reasonable and affordable and I decided to keep my lovely Crown Vic. Moral of the story: don't drive the shit out of an older cop car.

After I finally got it back I noticed it was leaking oil , which it had not done prior to being at Dot's. They said it had nothing to do with the transmission replacement and they would not fix the leak. I took it to my regular mechanic to check everything else out. They completely cleaned the engine and replaced everything that it could possibly be leaking from and it still leaks from the transmission. Dot's still will not acknowlege that the leak is from inside the transmission, that cost me $7000. They also had 3 different receptionist in the 6 weeks that I had to deal with them. I do not recommend Dot's.

After 4 days they said they dont know what the problem is, but for a extra 200 they could put some piece in my catalatic converter of for 500 change it. My issue was an engine problem it was shaking when i drove it. It had nothing to do with the catalytic converter. it wasnt getting compression. The mechanic didn't even speak english. I dont know if they even did the work i paid for. I took it to another mechanic who is Caucasian and he told me it wasn't getting compression as the valves weren't opening fully and there is build up of carbon in the engine. He didnt even charge me for a diagnostic. Which took him a few hours to complete. I will never go to Deans again. I paid hard earned money and still got screwed over.
