This place is terrible. i paid 1500 to have work done that didn't need to be done. My car had the same problem the day after it was "fixed".I went back and had to keep calling daily to see if it they fixed the issue that i had already paid for. After 4 days they said they dont know what the problem is, but for a extra 200 they could put some piece in my catalatic converter of for 500 change it. My issue was an engine problem it was shaking when i drove it. It had nothing to do with the catalytic converter. it wasnt getting compression. The mechanic didn't even speak english. I dont know if they even did the work i paid for. I took it to another mechanic who is Caucasian and he told me it wasn't getting compression as the valves weren't opening fully and there is build up of carbon in the engine. He didnt even charge me for a diagnostic. Which took him a few hours to complete. I will never go to Deans again. I paid hard earned money and still got screwed over. read more

Deans auto including the owner and his son Mo is by far one of the best mechanics in edmonton.. I have put them to the test on my bmw m3 , my Mercedes..and German vehicles fit the past 12 years. I have knowledge of vehicles and put my trust in this shop to the fullest to get repairs done right. Others shops including huge services businesses in Edmonton have missed items to fix on my vehicles before . And quoted me 40 percent more than deans. Deans auto is far overall the best service and prices in Edmonton offering superior service and advice hands down. They repair it all and super fast .. I went there for out of province vehicle that was imported from Japan , since they are also in the same business of selling vehicles imported from Japan, they sabotaged my vehicle so that it doesn't pass the inspection. I had new sets of Frot brakes installe, they unplugged the brake sensor so that they vehicle fails the ins, besides, they also pulled out washer fluid tank cable and washer fluid started leaking in my vehicle, when confronted of their incompetence and business malpractice, the East Indian guy at the counter showed animalistic and unprofessional behaviour towards me, he almost fought me. I was put on to Dean's a few year's back. I had several bad experiences with dealers in the area as well as some other garages. I have a 17 year old and a 27 year old car. Dean has kept them on the road for 3 years at minimal charge. They have been honest with me and I don't feel "greasy" like I so often do dealing with anyone in the auto industry. I brought my Civic in with a bad rattle that someone else had told me was the transmission. Dean's looked at it and found a loose bolt on the heat shied. Cost $80 instead of $800 to fix. Gone downhill....Recommend staying away unless you want to be over charged for problems Deans causes when you bring you car in. I have been to Dean's several times now and I've found their service to have dropped off considerably in recent years. In the past, I felt confident in Deans repair work and that the work was done at a fair price. However, during my last few visits, I felt that the work they had done was terrible and they charged for unnecessary work on my car. After my last tune-up, I left the garage and found my car was significantly LEAKING oil..and not just a few drops but a consistent stream coming out of the engine. I took it back to Deans immediately and they said it was another issue not related to the work they had done. I complained that the oil wasn't leaking before I brought the car in for a tune-up but in the end I had to get it fixed for an extra $700....total rip off! Not only did they charge me extra for this work, they kept my car for 3 days instead of trying to look at it the same day. I'm not sure if there's new management at Deans and maybe that explains the shotty work and bogus repair charges but the service here has definitely become VERY poor. read more

Dean's Auto is the most honest.. reliable.. and highly educated business... Moving from California, I know how hard it can be to find a mechanic. When it comes down to it, realistically the majority will take advantage of you. I am so grateful that I was referred to Dean's Auto. the man that referred us own's a dealership, and has been going to Dean's auto for 20 years! they were fast, and efficiently communicated all my options. Dean is a family man and treats his customers with the up most respect and will do his very best to follow through with everything he says. I had a wheel alignment on my Toyota Rav-4 1997 before with Dean Auto. Then On 06/11/2013 I took my Rav-4 to Dean Auto for change wheel bearing on the front driver side,because it was making noise,Dean charged me 83.49 cad for the beaing and 200 cad for the labor plus shop supply 13 cad and the gst.(the car odometer was 259182 km). On Sept/11/2013 I noticed the noise came back with increasing sound,I debated with my budget and bring back to Dean on Oct/11/2013 ,because I thought the other bearing might gone too,The car Odometer is 259182 km ,only 2691 km of driving. wonder why I am driving so little distance in more than 3 months:Because my workplace very close home and I am a Sunday driver also. Dean phone me ,He said the bearing that he changed before failed (defect) ,he replaced the bearing no charge,on waranty, but he had to charge the labor plus he change the new seal .The bill came out 201.60 cad.I came to talk to Dean ,he said the beaing was defected.That make me wonder :how come a wheel bearing failed after 2600 km driving ?(China make bearing even a lot better than that.)Did he changed the bearing on 06/11/2013 ?(God knows,he knew,I dont' know ?).Why did he not replace the seal when he did the job before?Did the Mechanic installed the bearing correctly?.Did the Mechanic torqued the bearing nut right torque foot/pounds? You know what he told me : "I could tell you the other side bearing made noise ,and i could charge you the whole job.".How on earth a person has the right mind and honest could say such thing. I've been using Dean's for a couple of years now. They have always been honest with me and give me straight up advice. I was taking my 2000 Ford Ranger to them before I sold it. Now they do all the work on my 2006 Ford Focus. They don't try to sell me expensive unnecessary repairs I don't need like other shops. Especially on the old truck. Never needed an appointment, just drop in and usually they could accommodate me that day. Fast service in the garage, just a bit slow on the front desk. But you got to respect a business owner that answers his own phone on top of everything else. Shop rates are not cheap but slightly below the Edmonton average and they will charge for 1/2 hour labor if that's all it takes. Small jobs like replacing a head light they have charged me a flat rate when I brought in the part myself. They have also been good to keep to the price they quoted me for a job. They have not always fixed the issue the first time, but they DO honor their warranty and re-do work when asked. I've been happy going to Deans and had a far better experience then any dealership. I always prefer small shop mechanics anyway. read more

Will NEVER go here again. We have used Deans a couple of times and been okay about the service however, we recently had my minivan towed there after it broke down (we made an appointment) and the communication from them was horrible. After waiting several hours to find out what was going on, I called in to find out. Apparently they hadn't had a chance to check it yet and would call me...still nothing by the end of the day so I called again and they were super rude on the phone when telling me what they had found and fixed (without checking/getting my approval). When I went to pick it up the next day my bill included an extra hour of labour. When I questioned it, it was apparently because I caused them problems by calling and bothered them by when I should have just known they would know what to do... read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. This place is a fucking joke. Dirty and unorganized with no professionalism. I took my truck there (running)for them to take a look at some electrical problems. Basically I paid them $100 to put my truck in worse condition than I brought it there and have to get it towed to a mechanic that knows what the fuck he's doing. Terrible at returning phone calls to let the customer know what's going on. And very little knowledge on vehicles, probably not a journeymen mechanic. It is funny to see those positive reviews about Dean's auto.. the people who actually post these positive reviews are working for Dean's auto. I took my car to fix a leak and charged me over $400 for it. The same day I picked my car from his shop, the car started leaking even worse. I right away took it back to his shop and he told me that the water pump needs to be replaced.. quoted me at $500. I said this is ridiculous. I took my car to Atlas Auto and he just fixed what Dean's auto had actually broken... Atlas charged me only $35 and told me that somebody must have messed with my vehicle. really bad.. Yep.. Dean's Auto robbed me !! Do not recommend him to anyone.. The customer service is absolutely rubbish and made me wait long time. I warn anyone from Dean's Auto.
