On a recent visit, I explored downtown Napa on foot and was happy to find this welcome center. They had a tasting of local wineries for free at the front, plus a large gift shop of mainly wine items and souvenirs of the area. They also have pamphlets and maps, as well as knowledgeable local guides to help you plan your visit. They also had nice restrooms, which were appreciated on a driving trip. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. I bought a few small items, but the best thing were the wine bottle shippers that came in handy when packing for home. Every bottle survived. It's worth it to stop in if you're visiting the area, especially your first time. read more

I walked into the "Welcome Center" this afternoon with a friend (we're both Asian). Several employees standing behind the front desk were talking amongst themselves. One female employee with long gray hair and glasses looked up, made eye contact with disgust, and immediately looked away without acknowledging us. Since no one welcomed us, I took the initiative and said, "Hello." The same employee responded with a stoic expression and asked if I wanted a map. I declined, and that was the extent of the interaction. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming from that point forward. My friend and I then browsed the souvenir area. While my friend used the restroom, I waited nearby holding her belongings. A short time later, the same employee walked over and appeared to be adjusting merchandise in the area, but it felt as though she was monitoring me rather than stocking products. I was left with the impression that I was being viewed with suspicion. We left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed. A visitor center should make guests feel welcome, and unfortunately that was not our experience. As an Asian visitor, I left feeling singled out and concerned that bias may have played a role in how we were treated. read more

There bathrooms are no longer available to the public, you now need to go down the way and right to the tree, walk down a long hall to the bathrooms. It wasn't as clean as the Napa Welcome Center's used to be. They were out of paper towels. I love this visitor's center, most of their items for sale are local. There is also a bunch of things made in China, such as the key chains and water bottles. I usually find something that I have to have. They have perfect phot opps. They have the welcome Napa sign and the hot air balloon basket. Both are must have photos. I take a picture in the basket every time we go. read more

I am glad we stopped in here before ventured into the vineyards. I for whatever reason did not check any stipulations about visiting the vineyards. Apparently, you need to make reservations at each of them. So in hindsight, this was a very valuable visit lol. I am not even sure what my intentions were for stopping in here but I am so glad I did! We were greeted immediately upon entering and offered assistance, to which we found out the unexpected news. We were given a map and informed only 1 vineyard was allowing visitors to come without reservations. Neither hubs nor I have heard of this vineyard but we are in Napa so c'est la vie! I decided to walk around the store because it was pretty big and busy looking for a welcome center. There were so many goodies to purchase, mainly wine accessories. I had visioned a sweatshirt I was fed to buy in Napa, to which they had something close to it here. I also saw a wine flavored jam and purchased that. Oh and there are dog treats so I had to spoil my dog lol. The staff were friendly and helpful. The welcome center was clean and tidy. I highly recommend stopping here prior to heading to the vineyards, especially if it's your first time visiting. read more

What a wonderful resource for visitors and first-timers! Even having visited Napa several times, we loved our stop in here and learned a lot. It's a bit tucked away, so this was our first time spotting it in downtown Napa! An excellent resource for visitors and locals conveniently located in the center of downtown Napa. Plus there is a beautiful 3D model of Napa Valley. The staff is welcoming and ready to answer all types of questions. Once I stopped by in desperate need of suggestions for visiting teenagers and wineries that allowed people under 21-yrs of age; thankfully they had lots a great ideas. My favorite part is their well curated gift shop. As a local, it's one of my go-to shops for gifts. I stop by regularly when I'm downtown because there is frequently something special happening such as free wine tastings or a book signing. read more

In my opinion, it is the starting point for creating a one-of-a-kind Napa Valley experience, thanks to its innovative, hands-on exhibits and services, as well as the staff's expert knowledge of the region and genuine enthusiasm for sharing its many treasures.  I just love walking around and the helpful employees can't wait to show you a good time by sharing their knowledge of everything from the best happy hours to the best hiking spots in the area. In downtown Napa, 600 Main Street to be exact, they got a beautiful posh visitor center. Well of course they do... being a world wide travel destination. Best of all, the staff are down to earth, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. No boorish attitudes. Step right in. I was warmly welcomed. The interior is professionally decorated. Very Instagram worthy interior decor. The seating area had big modern dark leather sofa and chairs. They have a large 2-D diagram of the valley in a glass case with points of interest ... think trail heads, parks. They have a gift shop, mostly filled with la de da high end tourist winery gifts. I beelined it to the back right wall, that is where they keep the obligatory brochures of activities, trailheads. parks, recreation areas, wedding venues, wineries, cheese tasting, olive oil tasting, spas, tours, etc. A staff member asked me if I needed assistance, I advised him I was looking for train rides. He showed me some brochures and pointed to a woman in the back sitting at a desk with a computer. She can assist me to book tours or anything. Awesome... especially if you don't have a smartphone or not tech savvy. Oh by the way... the iconic huge wooden chair is a few shop fronts away. Follow the signs from the highway and eventually you will arrive here. This welcome center is nothing like I expected, it is so over the top when compared to 99% of all visitor centers I've ever experienced. First order of business they have super clean restrooms and this is important your in wine country. The center is filled with a highly motivated staff if you need to know anything they are willing to provide you with all the information regarding anything in Napa and beyond or you can do the self tour and load up on maps and brochures of all the local wineries and restaurants and of course shopping. Don't spend to much time here the adventure is outside this establishment. read more

If you visit Napa this should be your first stop. First,? the establishment is beautiful; they even had very nice Napa souvenirs if you wanted to purchase. Several Napa Guest Experience Specialist were available to assist us. Kameryn and Casey helped us and were very helpful and knowledgeable! We asked a ton of questions and they gave us some incredible recommendations. Based on Casey's recommendation, we hiked Skyline Wilderness park before it rained, and he was spot on as to how beautiful it was. Kameryn gave us one incredible and delicious dinner recommendation: Casas Mexican Rest . Thank you! It was sooo good and we definitely hope to return before we depart Napa. This is a must come destination before going to any winery. You can have bathroom here after a long drive. The senior staffs here are volunteer, and they always give you honest opinion and suggestions. We're able to ask for restaurant suggestions and winery suggestions. And they can give you the voucher if the winery doing promotion. The vouchers could be 2 for 1 wine tasting or wine purchase discount. You can save more with those vouchers. Do Remember check in with Yelp or register yourself with their iPad and you can get an informative Napa guide book. You won't want to miss out the guide book, it's very informational. There's a parking garage that you can park, it's totally convenient. We're glad able to stop by here to get more information on how to plan our itinerary. read more

Review #122 - 2018 This was actually my very first visit to the Napa Riverfront so I didn't have any clue where anything was. I came here to look for the iconic giant Napa's Riverfront chair in particular after I kept seeing it pop up on a few of my Facebook friends's photos. I didn't know where to find it so I headed into the Welcome Center and asked where I could locate the giant chair. A lady was kind enough to walk us all the way out to the exact spot of the chair. Talk about great service. I came back later to ask for an address for the iconic Welcome to Napa Valley sign and they gave me a map and directions on how to get there. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time so we'll have to leave that for our next visit. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. It's also very cute inside with all the different decorations, but I didn't get any photos since the baby was not on good behavior. read more

For a welcoming center, the staff was not very welcoming. I was visiting from San Jose with my parents. Once the lady at the main desk made eye contact with me, she made a disgusted face and turned away. I had put on my best pair of shoes and a nice coat for our particular visit to Napa. I tried smiling, but no "Hello" or even a simple acknowledgment. We were ignored for the rest of our 10 minute visit. And no "Goodbye" as we left. Maybe they've never seen Filipinos before and so they don't know how to deal with their fear. Their ignorance left a sour taste on my family for the rest of the day. I feel sad for them really... this is the state of California, not the midwest. Neat 3D map though. read more

Walking around downtown Napa, we passed by the Napa Vally Welcome Center in the Riverfront center. It's a very nice center with about seven friendly staff members that answers questions regarding the Napa area. They have a table of iPads that you can use also use to access information as well. In the back wall, they have brochures and pamphlets of wineries (some have 2 for 1 tasting coupons), lodging, restaurant and shopping information and much more. In the front they have a gifts that one can buy as well. A great place for visitors to stop by for information to start a trip in the Napa Valley. read more

She was super knowledgeable of the area and helped us to figure out the best wineries and places to go to in the area. Without her help, we would not have experienced as nice of a weekend as we had. As a local and someone who has worked in the wine industry for more than 20 years here In Napa I know what to look for when it comes to the free information packets and booklets to give to visitors. I walked in and was very happy to see the large display of all the growing regions in Napa (that is always fun to see) but I was very alarmed at how the welcome center now looks like a gift shop (and of course that's also fun) but even I was confused walking in. Even if everyone is now on their phones this welcome center hardly had the 'goods' to hand out and people are still looking for these. Upon requesting 5 maps (an errand that I was sent on for visiting guests) I was not very well greeted with a 'can do' attitude. In fact, I was told that they are very short on supply and was given the sort of hem-ha about the amount of maps that I was requesting. Short ordering necessary pamphlets is not my problem but requesting 5 was my problem. I'm so sorry that I inconvenienced a welcome center in the midst of helping out 5 separate guests to the valley. I don't run a rental or anything of the sort but if I did I might not waste my time here either (except to purchase gifts). Perhaps my visit would have ended differently if I hadn't requested materials but again, I knew what to look for and was rather put off. What are actual guests doing when they come here? Hopefully not looking as confused as the couple standing outside whispering what do we do? -After having just exited as I was walking in. Not everyone has a connection to the wine valley, or experience coming here or a wine club membership so that goes to say, it is all so very overwhelming. Please have the necessary smile and supply that reflects what visiting the beautiful Napa Valley should entail. And enough with the inconveniencing attitude - hasn't this past year and a half already dragged that out of us? Suggestion: I'm not saying a hotel style rack card display is necessary but there should definitely be a a display that stands out of free booklets (maps and restaurant menus) so that people are more welcome into the building and to browse through after they have received additional info from the blackened screens that you initially see. Plus they have some really cute gift items. unique and thats saying alot cause every thing is the same in Napa gift shops. Sure I've seen decorative wine cork 300 times but the one they had, i wanted. They gave me all the things i needed and more. A+ Volunteers!! A+ Warning-- DO NOT GO to the Napa Tourist Information center on 1st street. it's not the same and privately owned. The guy there was smug and rude. The basics: I came into town on short notice with very little planning so when it came time to try to find some different things to do I found this place. It is in the riverfront area of town and it is all staffed by locals who know some of the little hidden gems if you are nice and ask. I found all kinds of information about local restaurants, tours, wineries, and etc. What works: The building is large and full of different fliers full of information. The staff is very willing to help and point you in the right direction of what you are looking for. There is a little gift shop type area where you can buy different items that include some cook books signed by some of the local celebrity chefs. What to improve: Although there is a lot of information here a good bit of it is generic information. Also there is so much it needs to be broken up a little better than it is. The short version: If you just need to make yourself a list of things to do and special events this would be a good spot to find it. This past weekend my partner and I found ourselves to be on an impromptu trip to Napa valley for Labor Day weekend. We hadn't done any research on the valley and decided to wing it making the welcome center our first stop for advice. Boy am I glad we did! The people working here were beyond friendly and willing to help! We first chatted with a wonderful lady named Margaret. She gave us a ton of information and many suggestions based on what we liked. She was very knowledgable of the area and helpful with a ton of tips!! After that we chatted with another lovely lady who assisted us with purchasing the tasting card for downtown(more on that after this). She had a ton of advice for us as well which was very helpful. She also made a few other suggestions for the downtown area, outside of wineries and tasting rooms l, that we really appreciated. Finally, we walked past the center on our last day in Napa and she made a point to come out and see what we thought of the valley and if the suggestions were helpful (which they were!). We had read about the tasting card online and were very interested in getting one. Read it carefully as some places don't offer tastings on the weekend (I'm looking at you bounty hunter wine bar). Also, some of the tastings were underwhelming and we weren't quite sure if it was worth the money at first. However, after going to all of the places we realized it does get you walking around downtown area which is very lovely and for the few that disappointed and underwhelmed the other tasting rooms definitely made up for it! If you are in Napa, even if you have a solid plan in place, stop by and have a chat with the lovely people here. You never know what you might find or learn! read more

This welcome center is a nice place to stop before you head out to the wineries and tasting rooms. The staff here are very knowledgable about the Napa area, and provided maps, suggestions, deals for tastings (i.e. 2 for 1 tasting, 10% off purchases, etc). They actually took a map out for us and highlighted a suggested route we should take -- it was a little ambitious for our schedule but we still referenced it throughout our time in Napa. Just FYI the parking is a little tricky here, and it's still awhile to drive after arriving at this welcome center until you start hitting the actual wineries. read more

Nice place to stop in to get some information. Especially about the city of Napa itself. There are some hidden gems in the town that require asking about first. There was a little tasting area, some souvenir retail stuff, and information. Appreciated the information. The lady who helped me out was super knowledgeable about what was around. Got some little coupon specials for some of the places (mostly the high profile locations give them out), but the thing the staff provided were personal accounts of some of the places that weren't high profile, you just had to know to ask. I only happened upon the info, by listening in to someone else asking. These guys and gals want to help you out, pay them a visit if you're wandering the area. read more

A welcome center filled with volunteer staff who WANT to be there. Excellent. It makes all the difference in the world at a place like this. We were greeted and were assisted just as much as we wanted - which was only a little. We took the opportunity to look at their map model Napa Valley, peruse brochures corresponding with our already-discovered-via-Google winery visit plans, and browsed the little gift shop area. The Napa Valley Welcome Center is a sign of improvement on the waterfront. They have an excellent assortment of pamphlets, magazines, and their souvenirs are even more impressive. One can get cookbooks such as Michael Chiarello's BBQ cookbook along with breakfasts from B&Bs around the Valley. It resembles a barrel room; there are several stations to book restaurant&hotel/motel reservations. A highlight of the place is the topographical diorama of the Napa Valley. For the sake of geological accuracy, it should mark the various faults such as Concord/Green Valley, Maacama, Healdsburg, West Napa/Napa Valley. It shows the geological features of the Valley, its various AVAs, but doesn't explain them. A fun little place. read more
