My regular branch location is closed for a couple of weeks for window repairs, so all holds are being transferred to Inglewood until it reopens. I stopped by on a sunny winter afternoon to drop off a few returns and pick up a few books on hold. The parking lot is a bit bigger than the East location, and it seems easier to access as well. After wandering around for a few moments, I was still unsure where to pick up my books, so I asked the team member sitting at the registration desk. They helpfully directed me to my books, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. On my way out, I noticed a few open computer stations, and some kid-friendly decor adorning the walls. Although it's a smaller branch, it doesn't seem too busy, and I'd definitely consider stopping by to work remotely or browse their book selection sometime soon.

This library, located in downtown Nashville, has lots of resources for people, including my favorite: a "Library of Things" where people can check out useful objects, such as musical instruments, tools, baking pans, weights, pedometers, sewing machines, binoculars, etc. In the teen area, there is a huge maker space with instruments, a loom for weaving, fabric and yarn for creating things, a podcast room, tools and all kinds of things that teens can use to be creative. The children's area of the library has a big play structure that looks like a ship, as well as a rock climbing wall (I know!), sensory toys, and little nooks with areas set up for play. There's a whole section on the third floor with charging stations and places for adults to hang out. My magazine-loving self loved that they had an archive of old magazines bound into books. I found decades-old copies of Seventeen and Vogue. The whole library itself is beautiful, with marble floors and lots of windows. It was super quiet when I visited. What a beautiful and useful space for the community.

We stayed almost an hour. While there are more play amenities at the downtown Main Library, the book selection is as good or better for children. If you're on this side of town, stop in and stay a while.

There's a small parking lot and some free street parking. If you're not used to turning into the Five Points neighborhood, I recommend going down to 10th Street and looping back around. The Nashville Public Library has an easy-to-use website, where you can place books on hold from any branch. They also have several e-books available to borrow, if that's your thing! Holds are available for pick-up on the shelves to the left of the main desk, and then you can walk around to the other side of the desk for the self-checkout scanner. Returns can be dropped off outside the building on the lower level (to the left of the front entrance). Because of its small size, this branch can get busy pretty quickly. Even still, it's nice to have such a cute little library in our neighborhood.

Love the displays that inspire an unexpected check-out. I love "Libby" and "hoopla", the apps that you have free access to with your NPL card to check out e-books, films, music, etc. I love the study rooms at this location that you can reserve online. I love the stacks, books to peruse for hours and access to pretty much anything you could want. Plenty of parking, excellent staff, a wonderful free resource for the community.

However, somewhere between going off to college and forgetting I loved reading for fun in law school many years had passed before I stepped foot into a library again (other than for a once a year CLE or to vote). In 2025, I decided I was going to find my love for reading for fun again and I started a garden so I wanted to check out the seed bank. I was very nervous to get back to the library. I feel like I didn't know the system or the rules anymore. I signed up for a card online and then forced myself to attend a Master Gardeners talk at this branch, where I asked for a physical library card. Everyone at the Bordeaux branch is so lovely! I'm still learning the ropes again, but each person I spoke with was so knowledgeable, kind, and enthusiastic. Having an online reserve system makes things a breeze. Picking up a reserved book is very easy! The drop box out front makes returning a book at any hour so convenient. The seed bank is well stocked. The library itself is clean and well organized! Free parking is truly such a treat to find these day, and this branch has lots of parking. I love that a library card comes with online access to Libby for audio books! This branch also is an early voting site, where everything is clearly marked and it's always been a very quick process to get in here to vote. This branch has helped me so much find an affordable way to get back into a hobby that I missed and truly is such a pillar for the community! I don't understand why more people don't utilize the library!! Borrowed books and DVD's that are…read morefree! And with online services, it's easier than ever. But I digress...the Green Hills branch has one of the best book selections in Nashville without going downtown. I can always find a book at this location, and thoroughly enjoy my visits here! The place is vibrant and well maintained (take note Richland Branch!!) and is ideal for browsing the shelves for extended periods of time. They also have a good selection of computers to use, that are never overly crowded unlike some of the other locations. Just a library FYI.... you can request a book online and have it delivered to any location. The library will then call you to let you know it's ready for pick up, so when you visit, just look for your name, pick it up and go! You don't even have to go try to search for it in the shelves! It doesn't get much easier than that. For non readers, they also do the same with DVD's and have a variety of classics that you can't get a redbox or instant stream on Netflix. So what's your excuse? Visit the library and get happy!!

They have done a great job of adapting to COVID-19 precautions! All you have to do is call when you get there and your holds will get safely put into your trunk. The library is also keeping returned materials isolated for 5 days for extra safety so I have no concerns when I get materials. I have about 20 things on hold at any given time and I love to go pick them up!
