Went to a Knights of Columbus dinner in their new venue. The dinner was held in the downstairs…read morepart of the building and I believe was the first large event that they held. There was a bar to hang out at and they had set up tables so that people could sit and eat. The building itself was rather small but was fine for the event. Speeches were made, prayers were said and there was a 50/50 raffle. I checked out the main meeting room and it was just what a person would expect. I have no pictures because that would have been weird considering no one knew me. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's group so to join that club you need to be male and a practicing Catholic. Im female and Jewish so that leaves me out but if I am invited back for a special event, I will happily show up.

We paid to have use of the outdoor area/bar (TV included for Sunday Football!) and had a band play. The tents outside were big enough to hold guests under during a brief rain and the grass area was amazing for the kids to run around and play. I asked if they can do the guided tour, and we were told they have staff along the way to answer questions...not one human in site! So unfortunate, you guys really need that element back! By the way, I kind of feel bad for the goat that has his pen right next to the trex as big as a house...I've seen Jurassic Park, they are not besties. Follow the signs. Thereis parking to the side of the main house. This visit had a tour of plants . There is a pond, fire pit and picnic tables throughout the area.it is a nature preserve park with many native plants along with some for sale. I suggest wearing a hat and sunscreen. While there are paths, sturdy shoes or work boots are good too along with a bottle of water. I did sera sign for bathrooms as well. They have a compost pile on the side.if you happen to have peelings from vegetables feel free to drop them off on your visit and learn how they make black gold for the soil.

The lady who gave a lesson about how to track or discover animals around us during our daily life, but the lesson was in a small room with no AC. The boys were not interested in the discussion at all. The session was informative to the parents, but the lady seemed unable to handle younger kids. We then took a nature walk outside and the boys were very into the hike. The trail was clearly marked and easy to access by foot. Parking lot was relatively small. Overall it was an okay experience.

The community center serves educational, recreational and the exercising needs of the community as well as neighboring communities and is able to be used for a nominal fee for those of the community and a slightly higher fee for those who don't live within it. The staff is very helpful and courteous in helping you meet your need in doing whatever it is you'd like to accomplish during your visit. I'll continue to support the center and encourage those who live within the community of westbury or neighboring town to stop by for a tour of the facility and support.
