Natalie Stevens is an awful doctor. Not an ounce of kindness in her. I have been to other OB/GYN physicians and they were shocked when they heard about what Stevens did to me. For example, while other doctors would gently examine me after warning up their hands, Stevens would jam her cold fingers without any warning. She made me feel so uncomfortable asking any questions with her brusque attitude and condescending tone. She made me dread going to my appointments. One of my life's biggest regrets. Please even if she is the most convenient doctor to go to, don't do it. Do it for the well being of youe body and child and go elsewhere. read more

I am a mom of 5 and Dr. Natalie Steven's biggest fan. I can't believe I've waited 7 years to praise this doctor in writing, but she just came up for the 109th time and I decided it's time to write this review! I blame the delay on the fact that I gave birth to 4 of my kids in just the past 6 years ;) I met Dr. Stevens on referral in 2011 when I was pregnant with twins, depressed, in massive pain over sciatica and clearly seeing the wrong doctors. Within a month of our first meeting, she had built a team around me to support me at such a critical stage in my pregnancy. She referred me to the best miracle worker/ physical therapist and the most understanding psychologist - and my pregnancy- induced pains (both physical and emotional) quickly faded. I always felt so cared for by this doctor. She literally built me a love army so I could have a sound twin pregnancy and delivery ;) In September of 2011, I delivered my healthy fraternal twins (babies 2 and 3) naturally, calmly, without surgery and without a NICU stay! She was unbelievable and with me every step of the 22 hour labor. (The twins' delivery was so much easier than my first baby who I had delivered years earlier at a different hospital in grave pain, with a doctor who had no idea what I was saying and ignored me most of the time.) A few months after I had the twins, I became pregnant with my 4th baby! Oh my. Dr. Stevens was with me from day one as a partner and teammate. She listened to me, asked all the right questions and put my mind at ease constantly. She monitored me as if I were her only patient and supported me through my stresses over newborn twins, postpartum fears, with another one on the way- she was just everything to me. She is truly a magic worker and the best doctor on the planet. In 2014 I moved to LA and although I thankfully had a 5th healthy baby here- let's just say I was in a painful labor for 3 days with my 5th, in which I experienced two incorrect epidurals and all sorts of mega mistakes, which I know now NEVER would have happened if I had this baby with Dr. Stevens in NYC. My husband and I often think of Dr. Stevens, and are so very thankful. We have often told the story of our twins' delivery when people ask, and we always revert back to that night in NYC in 2011, and how protected and incredibly safe we knew the twins and I were. When I walk some moms and expectant moms through those amazing minutes of literally pushing two babies out naturally with the support of this wonder woman doctor- jaws drop. I've met multiple twin and Singleton moms since I had my twins and NOT ONE mom has the blissful healthy delivery and birth story that I have! So, I send them all to Dr. Stevens ;) If you are pregnant or even thinking about having a baby in your future, run, don't walk, to this doctor! read more

I've always had a great experience with Dr. Natalie Stevens and her office (patient of 3 years). She's very calming and understanding despite the fact that going to the gynecologist gives me great anxiety. I recently had an IUD put in and called there multiple times beforehand to discuss the procedure, my options in birth control and scheduling concerns. Every time I called I was put through to the medical assistant (not sure if that's the correct term), Carrie. She was fantastic. Truly. She answered all my questions and even called me a few days after the procedure to check in on me. If it wasn't for her support and her taking the time to talk with me, I might not have had the procedure (because I was so nervous). If you are considering getting an IUD and have any questions, she was extremely helpful. read more

Had an absolutely horrible nightmare experience here. Was deliberately misled into an extremely high bill that I could not afford for unnecessary things. I specifically told the doctor I could not afford to come in for what she was asking me because my insurance wouldn't cover it and she lied right my face multiple times just to make a buck off someone with not a lot of money who was just trying to seek medical care. I feel betrayed and I honestly never want to go to a doctor again after this experience and the way the staff humiliated me just for being upset about this issue. I am a patient of Dr. Natalie Stevens (whom I love). Today I saw Dr. Butt instead, I liked her as well. Both doctors are personable & efficient. However, their staff is horrible, no matter how many times they acquire new people. The receptionist is rude almost every time I call. Today, immediately after my appointment, The medical assistant asked me to change rooms, while I was still in my gown. I complied, got dressed and she administered blood work in the new room. I was wiping the blood off of my arm (bc I do not like the bandaids) and she rushed me out of this room as well, telling me someone else was waiting for the room. I've been a patient of Dr. Stevens for at least 5 years and she is amazing, but she really needs to upgrade staff. Dr. Stevens herself is a very competent doctor. She is not fuzzy, warm or a hand-holder, but she is the person you want on your side if you need medical help. She delivered my child in November 2012 at Lenox Hill. She was professional the entire time and I would recommend her as an ob/gyn. Since this time, she has acquired new staff and new doctors in her practice. It takes months to schedule a routine check up with her, hence the need for additional doctors in her practice. The staff is very unprofessional and lazy when it comes to handling patient appointments and insurance matters. When you speak to them, you get the feeling, they may have completed their Mandl school training (no offense to Mandl) but may have not completed their GED! Anyway, it's a shame that an UES physician cannot employ more efficient and professional staff. read more

Dr. Stevens is the absolute best! I've been going to her for a few years now, primarily for treatment of severe endometriosis. She performed major surgery on me in 2013 and it's been life-changing. The first gyn doctor I can actually say I liked and didn't make me feel uncomfortable. She was attentive and was open to numerous testing to ensure we followed up on any concern I had, regardless how minor. I also received a phone call within 48 hours with my results, which was very reassuring. There's nothing I hate more than having to chase an office for results. All and all a great appointment; I will definitely be keeping her as my gyn. read more

After reading a really horrible review of Dr. Stevens and Dr. Butt ( as a part of her practice) I fell compelled to share with you my experience concerning both doctors. Dr Stevens delivered my first son , who is now 4 years old. She was amazing throughout my pregnancy and very supportive. In the delivery room she was beyond competent , compassionate, and completely engaged in the process. I was unable to move down lower on the table to push. No problem, Dr. Stevens lifted me up ( by herself) so I would be in position. Keep in mind I was 220+ lbs at this point. Throughout my delivery she had encouraging words " you got this" " your a rock star" and so on. After delivery ,for my entire stay in hospital ,she visited me daily(about 2 times a day).Since the birth of my first son she has seen me often for office visits and has always been warm and wanting to know how the family is. Dr. Butt delivered my 2nd son. She has a comfortable bed side manner , making you feel very relaxed ( you can definitely joke with her). She did a fantastic job coaching me through a natural child birth as well as post delivery care. For some reason I wanted to see my placenta ( no I did not keep it ) . Dr . Butt took the time to talk me through the organ , spending a few extra minutes with me as we connected over an aspect of her work I believe she enjoys. I could sing the praises of both these doctors , and how they compliment each other so nicely , but the long and short of it is , you work with two fantastic doctors throughout your pregnancy and you deliver with one of these two fantastic doctors. If you are looking for a small practice OB/GYN that are truly hard working , compassionate , and honest , these are the doctors for you! read more

I would not recommend her especially if you are going to have your first child. She could careless about you and how your first time pregnancy is going. During the nine months she did the minimum, barely answered my questions and just wanted the next appointment. I saw her throughout nine months of pregnancy very nervous and the day of the delivery her partner Dr. Butt was on call, delivered my baby, she was very kind and understanding took time to talk to me ( not asking for much) I saw Dr. Stevens at the hospital but she didn't even say "Hi" or how I was doing, didn't stop by to check..... like I didn't even exist. Absolute nightmare. Please stay away for you and your child's sake. She is a walking malpractice lawsuit. I wish I had taken her negative reviews more seriously before trusting her with my son. I now believe that many of the positive reviews you see here are her friends, family, and staff members. It was only after I found another OB GYN to deliver my other children that I can see how truly horrible Natalie was. Even though its been several years since I last saw her, seeing her photo on Yelp makes me start crying because it reminds me of all that Natalie's mistakes put my family through. But I see it as my moral duty to warn other moms. She will be facing a malpractice lawsuit soon from her patients so that others won't have to suffer the way we did. Please do your research and ask the nurses at Lennox Hill, where Natalie delivers, what they honestly think of her. Ask them who they think the best doctors are, and they will never say Natalie Stevens. I'll explain why. As many other reviewers have mentioned, Natalie is not a warm person. That's fine. But her lack of warmth is a reflection of her lack of empathy. She is robotic. She does not care about you and your wellbeing. She views you not as a person but as a product in a factory line. She will persuade you to induce on days that are convenient for her. Those days are not arranged around what is best for you and your baby's health. It is based on her vacation schedule, days off, and the hospital's availability. Which is understandable. But on those days she will have 4 to 8 other women induced at the same time. And she will jump from room to room. It is very efficient. But she will rush through each delivery. And that is why she makes so many mistakes. (Her and Jennifer Butt.) Mistakes happen when you rush. And she will definitely be rushing. It's impossible for any doctor not to make mistakes if they have 4-8 other patients in labor at the same time. So forget about things like delayed cord clamping. If you're reading this, you probably know how important it is for your baby's health. Natalie doesn't care. She will cut your cord immediately whether you asked or not. So forget about trying to have her stitch you back up nicely. She's in a rush. She's got places to go. Your stitch and healing is going to be very ugly. But who cares, "it's just cosmetic," as Natalie told me. So forget about her following up with you after your delivery. She's done. She's paid. Like other reviewers mentioned, Natalie (and Jennifer) completely miss medical conditions. That's to be expected when she's just rushing through. Natalie missed so many things I had to keep reminding her. I can list the things she "forgot" to check: first trimester Down syndrome screening, second trimester maternal serum screening, blood incompatibility between mother and fetus, test for anemia, test for HPV, etc. Don't take only my word for it. Do your research. And check with the nurses at Lennox Hill. read more

Dr. Stevens made a very serious mistake in the course of my prenatal care. Thank God, my baby was okay, but he had to be in the NICU because of her negligence - forgetting to medicate me for strep B positive, and neglecting to ever tell me that I was strep B positive. The worst part is, Dr. Stevens denied her mistakes and blamed them on me! She claimed that she had told me that I was strep B positive. What expectant mother would ever forget being told a thing like that? And if she had told me, why didn't she tell me to come in a few hours earlier in the labor so she could medicate me? I did not need to file a malpractice suit, because in the end, the baby was fine, thank God, but no thanks to Dr. Stevens and her awful "care." She also overdosed me and caused Lidocaine poisoning from stitching me up. Dr. Stevens is a pretentious snob who doesn't know how to admit when she makes a mistake. That is a doctor you want to stay away from. read more

The dr visit portion is fine, except their billing department has been a nightmare. I've been perhaps 5 times to this office for pre-natal, before Dr. Stevens stopped delivering babies and I had to switch to another doctor, and 2 of those the payment from my insurance was "lost" or cannot be found in the book keeping, even though my insurance company sent evidence of the payments being sent. It's just been a huge pain. read more

I saw Dr. Stevens and Dr. Butt throughout my pregnancy, and was very happy with both of them. I liked that they work well together as a team to meet all of the patient needs and the staff supports them very well. You feel comfortable with both doctors, and since they are the only ones in the practice you don't have to worry about having a stranger there at your delivery. They (and their fabulous staff) make an effort to get to know you and your situation. I ended up having some medical issues towards the end, and I feel Dr. Stevens and Dr. Butt both communicated options with me clearly and effectively. I would not have another baby without them. Dr. Stevens is a true professional. She is exceptional in all aspects of her practice. She calmly explains everything very clearly in terms that are easily understood. She came highly recommended by my own doctor, Lenox Hill Fetal-Maternal, and nursing staff at Lenox Hill. I have yet to hear anything but pure satisfaction with her practice or procedures. It should be noted that we drove into the UES from NJ on a regular basis because Dr. Stevens was that good. For anyone who fights traffic in the NY Metro, that should say just how exceptional she is... read more

Due to the mishap my friend was unable to get the procedure done. A little mistake on the Dr office's end turned into a huge blow up on my friend. Being new to NYC, I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Stevens on my first try! I basically chanced it, because I had to get in immediately. I found her through my insurance, and I could not be more pleased. My first apt. was very thorough and efficient. Her bedside manner is very genuine and attentive, making me feel like she really does care about her patients. She basically answered every concern I had and then offered great advice. My second apt, her office got me in for a some day apt and I was in and out within 30 mins! I just can't believe it's been that easy after other horrible experiences at other places. Dr. Stevens is truly the best gynecologist- and overall medical doctor- I've ever had. I don't usually write on yelp but this doctor deserved this review. I met Dr. Stevens when I was pregnant with my twins and unhappy with my prior gynecologist. Dr. Stevens took care of me physically- and mentally- as a confidant and friend ensuring I was healthy for the delivery of twins. Being 9 months pregnant in August with twins is very hard on the body for a working mom in Manhattan and she called regularly and encouraged me to visit whenever needed. When I finally delivered the twins on a beautiful September day in 2011, I had both of them vaginally - no c section- which Dr. and I had discussed that I wanted. It was an incredibly calm, peaceful delivery and her staff was excellent. They were so professional and informative with me - and truly amazing with my babies. She is a rarity as it's not just about the delivery but she is amazing in how she cares for the mother in the process, which ensured me a twin delivery with no surgery and no NICU stay. After the birth of the twins I experienced my own post- pardom, and Dr. was there for me on so many levels to help me come through it, referring the best specialists and treating me as if I were her only patient everytime I saw her (and she has a lot of patients!). She is the kind of doctor who looks you straight in the eye, always tries to educate you and really, truly cares. She works so hard and often you can see her zipping all over the Lenox Hill upper east side area, between regular appointments and deliveries. She is truly a tireless, incredibly professional gem. A year after my twins I had another baby, and it was seamless; healthy child, easy pregnancy with regular visits to her and speedy delivery/ recovery. Her staff was always kind and accommodating, asking personal questions about your life and checking in on the family; I did hear she changed that staff after I moved to California--- but really, to have had 3 healthy children with so much support over two years from this doctor and two non-surgical seamless deliveries in 15 months!!! I'll deal with some reviews below claiming a disorganized front desk. The bottom line is, with his doctor you are safe, truly cared for and will have the healthiest delivery and pregnancy possible for yourself and your child. I was never able to get an appointment with Dr. Stevens. I called in February to make an appointment after reading mostly good reviews and her first available appointment was today, April 21. I took time off work in the middle of the day so that I could make this appointment only to have the receptionist call and cancel 3 hours before. Perhaps Dr. Stevens really is fantastic but I'll never know. I can't wait another two months to POTENTIALLY see a doctor who clearly should not be taking new patients at this moment. read more

Dr, Stevens is great but her reception desk is horrendous and because of this she has lost me as a patient. First, I switched insurance companies and had to call the office on several occasions just to confirm they received my new insurance information which they lost/ couldn't locate each time. They were extremely rude each time I called and refused to take my insurance information over the phone to avoid the problem of them continuously losing the information when I sent it via fax. Also, they never warned me when my prescription was set to expire. My pharmacy called the office several times to ask if they were going to re-fill my prescription and the office NEVER called back. I showed up to the pharmacy one day to find out that my prescription was not refilled. I tried calling the office and no one answered. I decided to go to another doctor to be treated like an actual patient with medical needs that must be addressed properly instead of an inconvenience. read more

Dr. Stevens is an exceptional doctor. I saw her all through my pregnancy (monthly, then weekly) and she delivered my baby girl at Lenox Hill in August. Throughout my pregnancy, Dr. Stevens was attentive and available. If you call with a question, you can expect a call back from her within hours. I was a nervous first-time mom, so I had numerous questions, and Dr. Stevens made time to answer them, in her office, all with patience and grace. I have heard other cases where a doctor is nice until you question his/her methodology. This certainly wasn't the case with her. I wanted an intervention-free birth, and that's exactly what I got with her. I went into labor on a Saturday night, and she came in Sunday afternoon, and was very present and hands on during my labor, until my daughter was born. While I chose to go without drugs (without epidural or pain meds) from what Dr. Stevens said, I believe she is supportive of whatever kind of birth a woman could want. A few months later, I had an issue with a UTI over Christmas weekend. I reluctantly called her answering service, and Dr. Stevens got back to me within two hours with a prescription, even though she was clearly on vacation somewhere. She remembered I was allergic to sulfa drugs and took care to make sure the antibiotics were compatible with nursing. I had an appointment later that week, and she was helpful in explaining treatment and prophylactic measures for the future. Dr. Stevens is really a remarkable doctor. Compassionate, knowledgeable, and she really treats the patient as a person. She is punctual, organized, and has a good memory for your personal details. In addition, her office is well run and clean. Her staff is friendly, and there is a minimal wait for appointments. (Really nice when you have morning sickness and just want to get in and out.) I highly recommend her both for OB and gynecological matters. read more

Doctor Stevens delivered both of my children. My son was born two years ago vaginally and daughter born a month ago via C-section (breech position). Both experiences were wonderful (although I was a bit anxious for the C-section) because of Doctor Stevens. Her office staff and all doctors associated with her practice, Dr. Butt and Dr. Katy are fantastic and you can be rest assured that you will be in wonderful hands if any of these doctors deliver your baby. The wait time for appointments is never too long and the office staff works hard to get you in and out in a timely manner. I was helped by a nice lady at the reception area, followed by an even gentler nurse for my lab work. I went to Dr. Stevens for a 2nd opinion and she was so caring and approachable, unlike most Doctors I have met in NYC. She took the time to explain my diagnosis and treatment and was just a warm/friendly person overall. She will be my permanent doctor going forward, I just hope no one in this office moves. read more

Dr. Stevens missed a condition that I had which set me back a few months in my attempt to have a baby. I had been concerned that I had a condition that could affect my chances of getting pregnant. I went to see Dr. Stevens who told me definitively that I did not have this condition while doing a sonogram. She did not take my history or ask me why I always thought I had the condition, but when she said no, I was SO happy and relieved....until a few months went by and I was having troubles. She gave up on me told me to see specialist. I found someone on my own, who within 5 minutes went and diagnosed me with what I was so sure I had all along just by taking a detailed history. A sonogram a few minutes later confirmed it. How did he see what Dr. Stevens couldnt?? And she did many many sonograms on me. Such a disappointment. No one should have to go through what I went through. It felt very sloppy, rushed, and careless. read more

I made an appointment with Dr Stevens 6 months in advance - only to not have her show up. This happens, I understand. I met with Dr Butt instead. She seems professional & thorough. What concerned me was her giving me a bunch of prescription pre-natal vitamins. Well, these "prescription vitamins" aren't any different from my regular vitamins -- I checked. She gave me lots of free samples to test out. I'm very uncomfortable with this insistence on prescriptions..I will not be going back. read more

PLEASE run from her!!!!! She was my doctor in June of 2012 and she delivered my child at Lenox Hill Hospital and it was a disaster. I don't know where to begin. My pregnancy should of been consider high risk given my health history but she did not one time take my history into consideration. I delivered through c-section and I have not recovered from the complications six years later. She is unfriendly her office staff at the time was unfriendly and never welcoming it seems they were more attentive to the women who were well to do it was quite obvious actually. I had fevers went back and forth to the hospital ER and she was right upstairs but never once came to the ER to see what was going on with me knowing I gave birth days/ weeks earlier I ended up having a hysterectomy 2 years after birth due to the complications from the c-section. I was so sick that I could not even think about legal actions against her. She got away with a big one in my case.
