I'm so happy I found Mary Catherine Photography. I went through various hashtags on Instagram to…read morefind someone who was doing fall minis, and just couldn't have gotten luckier. Not only were the photos fast (you're in and out in 20 minutes) but we got TONS of great shots in a variety of poses. She made the toddler in the family look like a child model and managed to make him smile a genuine smile for every shot he's in. Magic! My husband's sister lost her job due to COVID, so she's temporarily playing nanny to her cousin's toddler. There's so much about the pandemic that isn't great, but having so much family so close by for once is a small silver lining to this whole thing, and we wanted to document it by getting some family shots. Even though it was an overcast, humid day, the pictures all came out great and are cheerfully gloomy, with rich dark green backgrounds and pops of color from our outfits. We had trouble choosing our favorites! She even rolled with the punches when I brought some fans with other cousin's faces on them so they could "be" in the photo we send to Grammy and just acted like that was a fine and normal thing to bring to a shoot :).

To judge Jennifer based solely on the pictures we received and how she did at my daughter's bat…read moremitzvah, she may have earned 5 stars. But, outside of the day of the event, this was a miserable experience. A couple of months prior to the event, I began to email Jennifer to arrange the separate portrait session. She never replied to an email, and finally answered her phone, stating that the emails must have gone to her spam folder (even though we'd communicated primarily through email as we were going through the contracting process). She arrived half an hour late to the portrait session, for which we only had one hour since it was the day of the event. Our contract stated that we'd have the pictures 4-6 weeks after the event. We hadn't heard from her at all at 6 weeks, so began emailing, calling, and texting, and got no response at all. Finally, on February 3 (more than 3 months after the event), she texted back that she was "almost done." We didn't hear back again until March. At that point, we were told that some of the files were "corrupted" and she was sending them to a lab to see if they could be recovered. What she had was finally posted in mid-March. After another couple of months of desperately trying to get Jennifer to respond to inquiries about the status of the corrupted files, she finally replied that she had "good news" on May 5 and the recovered pictures would be posted that weekend. It wasn't until June 12 that she finally posted the pictures. There were only a few, though, and they were not of the people and parts of the event that she knew we were hoping for. By way of apology, all we ever received was a $200 credit towards prints and a promise to connect us with someone who does albums so that we could buy an album at cost. (We never got an actual apology for anything, just excuses.) Of course, she never did connect us with the album person. But now, 10 months after the event and with prints and files in hand, we are simply glad to be done with the whole thing.

I contacted her to take our pregnancy announcement pictures and gender reveal, and not only was she responsive but she was so happy for us. Felt really personable and friendly! She also agreed to actually reveal our gender to us and get our reaction which was so great and a very beautiful moment! We received the pictures SO fast! That meant a lot to me because we were still so excited from that moment so it felt good to be able to share with family and friends so quickly. I'd def recommend her services, and will use her again for sure! She's professional, friendly, and the pictures we took turned out so well!

Anna was a delight to work with and made it very easy to schedule our newborn photo shoot, which…read morecan be challenging given that nobody really knows when baby will come and most say photos are best before baby hits 10 days old--at which time they can be more fussy and less sleepy. :) Scheduling and filling out the release and contract was easy--I was able to sign everything on my phone in advance--very convenient when you are recovering and don't want to get on a computer. When we arrived, Anna was all set up, the space was warmed, outfits we discussed and props were ready to go, and she met us with hand sanitizer and was double masked. Anna asked that we wait to feed baby until we arrived so we would have a big sleepy window. We did and she was patient for this, and the needed diaper change! We also learned that she is a doula and extremely experienced with babies in all aspects of her life. Once baby drifted to sleep, Anna began getting her changed and into different scenes quickly. We had only planned for 1-2 hours (to get baby home and back in bed--but I was also still tired and recovering) and in just shy of two hours we did seven different outfits/backgrounds. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we were also allowed to take photos while she took some--which I appreciated because I could give family a preview...and I can't stop swiping through them! We hired Anna Isaiko and Olena Nykytovych as a photographers for our wedding that took place on…read moreOctober 22nd. Unfortunately, my husband and I are very disappointed with a quality of their job. We paid for 5 hours of their work: ceremony at the church, and reception afterwards. The pictures from the church turned out to be okay - there are nice pictures of two of us and a pastor during the ceremony, however there is no good group pictures with families and friends after the ceremony. When we were posing together with families, photographers did not make any comments regarding the postures and how everyone looked - we ended to have zero photos were all people are (at least) looking in one camera. We thought that if they don't make any comments, then everything looks good. However it turned out to be the opposite.. We'd think that professional photographers would want to take the best shot they could, but unfortunately, not in this case. The reception was in beautiful barn at Clyde's Willow Creek in Ashburn. The lighting in the barn is intimate and warm, also there was a fire place. Absolutely ALL pictures from the reception are low quality, grainy, and out of focus. We were posing in front of the fire place with the guests who wanted pictures with the couple, and were planning on printing out these pictures and sending them along with the 'thank you' cards. However, the quality of these pictures ruined our plans. We had only 35 guests on our wedding, everyone who was there is valuable and important person to us. As any couple at their wedding day we wanted to capture the priceless moments in pictures and share them with our friends and family. However, the poor job of photographers ruined this. Instead of apologizing and trying to resolve this situation the photographers said that the lighting on the reception was dull and tried to blame our guests that they were complaining about the flash that photographers used (they had only one small flash with them). Also, they were taking video and made a short (2-minutes) one for us as a present and tried to sell us longer video for $900. We did not hire them to take videos, and it seems that they put more efforts in taking the video than the pictures and now trying to upsell us the long video to get more profit (on top of the price that we paid for 5 hours of their work). The topping in this situation is that after I tried to talk to Anna and send her texts I was blocked without any response. When my husband and I called her from a different number she replied but then hung up on us while we were still talking. This disrespectful and rude behavior shocked us! I never leave bad reviews, but in this situation I do not have another choice. We paid 100% upfront, were easy to work with, and got bad pictures and unacceptable customer service as a result. Please don't work with this photographer if you don't want low-quality event pictures, poor customer service, and if you don't like to be treated in absolutely disgraceful, disrespectful manner.

I came across Nicole's photography page and decided to follow her. A few times, she posted on…read moreInstagram asking for models, and I volunteered to participate - about three times, to be exact. This could be a great opportunity to see if she'd be a good fit for us. Eventually, she responded, asking if I'd be available for a Wednesday morning sunrise session. I agreed without hesitation. The next day, she contacted me again, asking if we could do the session that evening instead. I said yes, but I needed to know the time. She replied with something vague like, "Ooo, I don't know... maybe 5 p.m.?" Her response felt wishy-washy, but I confirmed that 5 p.m. worked for me. By 3:00 p.m., I still hadn't heard back, so I followed up to check if we were still meeting at 5:00 p.m. and where the shoot would be. I began getting ready, as it took me a while to prepare myself and my family. Keep in mind that I'd also canceled my prior engagements and evening plans - it was a big commitment on our end. When 5:00 p.m. came and went without a word from her, I decided to give it another hour, hoping I'd hear from her while there was still daylight. But nothing. Regardless of being a model, I felt frustrated that she lacked the communication to tell me that she ended up choosing someone else for the session and gave the excuse that her "phone had died." After such a disappointing experience, I realized I wouldn't want to actually book with her, nor would I recommend her to anyone.
