Your chances of being accepted at Dunn Towers are not very good If you're a man with hobbies that will take up apartment space, such as hobbies where you use a workbench. Getting into Dunn, and your retirement future, is at the mercy of being judged by woman over half your age. You see, they do a home visit. When the home visit woman visited me, she was very courteous, respectful and professional. However, I was denied and told I should "weed out" my hobby equipment. I really believe she saw my hobby as junk that can simply be discarded! I think that was insensitive to me and my hobby, which is fixing tube amplifiers and radios. But I understand, to someone who knows nothing about this hobby, my small studio apartment could look more like a workshop or storage area. I'll bet the home visit woman wouldn't have this reaction to seeing, for example, an elderly woman seamstress' apartment piled high with materials all over the place. Or pack-rat woman whose apartments are wall to wall dolls and antiques. As woman, the Dunn office personal might instinctively relate to such hobbies, while naturally viewing my hobby as junk. As such, they may be subconsciously and unintentionally showing a preference towards choosing woman residents. This all goes to show, as with any apartment property, you may be next on the waiting list but that does not mean you're next to take residence. I tried to make the Dunn woman see that my studio apartment is cluttered due only to its small size. The Dunn apartment I was shown is a more roomy one bedroom apartment that has a huge storage closet. I pleaded with them that I would store my hobby stuff in that closet. Out of site. No clutter. But they still denied me. To be fair, I should note that another reason for my denial was that my current apartment has not been kept up well. This is due to a problem I've recently developed in my legs. I gave my word that I would have housecleaning help at Dunn and would not allow these conditions to develop again at Dunn. But, again, the word of a 25 year resident at my current apartment meant nothing to the Dunn home visitor woman and property manager woman. They did generously agree to give me another chance, someday, but I feel they could have taken me for my word. Instead, they suggested I spend money on housekeeping now in my current apartment, just to get it up to their standards. I even explained to them, that would not be practical, as I'm scrimping to save up money for my Dunn move in fees. They just wouldn't take my word on anything. Again, The Dunn woman were very nice to me but I feel I was unfairly and too hastily denied.

I have lived at Little Creek for years. At first, we enjoyed living here as it was quiet, the staff…read morewas responsive, and generally most maintenance issues were resolved. However, over the past few years, we have experienced unresponsive staff, poor quality of life, and continued unresolved issues. Some of the issues we have experienced include: constant mold and mildew on the windows and windowsills (the fix provided was to paint over the mold), water damage on our ceiling from a leak in an upstairs unit (again, the fix was to simply paint over the damage rather than fix the leak), siding for the building has fallen off (after asking the office over the past two years to fix this, there has been no response or attempt to fix), laundry room issues (over the past few years the machines tend to stop working, the dryer also got so hot it made the entire room fill with fog and water dripping off the walls anytime it was used- took weeks to get someone to check this out, resulting in water damage), smoke in neighboring units in our non-smoking building (have brought this to office with no resolution) and a doorbell that has not worked for years (again, have asked this to be looked at with no response). Most recently, there have been ROACHES in our building. The office staff is extremely hard to contact. The phone is not answered and voicemails are not returned. It usually goes straight to voicemail during open hours. We try to go in person, but they are usually not there when we go visit. One weekday during open hours we went multiple times (morning, lunch, afternoon & evening), and the office was dark and locked all day. When we asked the office staff via email regarding this, they said they were there the whole day and we must have missed them (which is not the case). Typically we only get a response via email. Oftentimes responses take days or weeks to come, even with time sensitive issues regarding safety or lease renewals. Another frustrating issue is that when you send an email with multiple questions, the office staff will only address one question and ignore the others, even when they are time sensitive. I've had to send the same question multiple times before it gets addressed. I still have questions from weeks ago that have not been answered, and issues that have continued to go unresolved. Maintenance has also closed out requests without doing anything to fix the issue. It feels as though the office staff lacks empathy and care for the folks who live here. Landscaping goes weeks before being touched, there are so many weeds, lots of trash and litter, and dog droppings that sit outside for months. The pool is typically closed. The snowplowing is subpar, and last winter, the sidewalks were so bad I slipped and fell multiple times and witnessed neighbors slipping and falling regularly. The roads and driveways desperately need to be paved, there are potholes and hollow holes that are getting worse. Neighbors tend to be pretty loud and the walls are extremely thin. As mentioned, neighbors will often smoke in the non-smoking building. The general upkeep of the building has deteriorated. I would recommend thinking twice about living here. The quality does not reflect the prices you pay for rent. Rent increases each year are absurd when there are ongoing issues that have been going on for years that have not been resolved or even attempted to have been resolved. The rent prices go up at least $100 a year if not more, with the hidden and unexpected costs and fees that they tack on that you are not given any warning or explanation for. Mold, water damage, pest problems, on top of an unresponsive office staff has made this a very frustrating and disappointing place to live. It seems as though the google reviews are replied to with more urgency than the actual tenant issues and concerns. I would spend your money where issues are fixed in a timely manner and staff treat you with empathy and understanding.

We were looking for an apartment in the Chili area, because of familiarity and access. Just about anything we want or need is close at hand. After looking at several apartments, we decided that the Blueberry Hill complex best suited our needs. Now this is a pretty popular complex. They offer all the usual amenities such as a pool and a newly added exercise room with all new equipment. The grounds are nicely kept, as are the apartments. We were lucky enough to be accepted for a nice two bedroom, two bath unit. Everything is on one level, making life easier without having to climb stairs. Our apartment is spacious enough for entertaining and we have a nice patio for warmer weather. Pets are welcome, with a fee. Any maintenance issues are attended to promptly. All of the staff have been pleasant and polite. The streets and parking lots are kept clear and safe in the Winter time. I've usually enjoyed apartment life and Blueberry Hill is no exception. Part of apartment living involves getting along with your neighbors. We're lucky to have a diverse group of people and children. So far, we like them all. Don't forget, if there is something you don't like, discuss it calmly and act like adults, and things can be worked out. I highly recommend the Blueberry Hill complex. Rents are reasonable and storage units are available, at extra cost. We've enjoyed our first year at Blueberry Hill and we recommend it if you're looking for an apartment. There use to be free wifi but they are canceling it next month. I suggest getting frontier or timewarner. Because there are so many people here the internet gets slow at times. Parking is getting a little crowded but they are accommodating. This place is well kept.

The community and amenities on the whole are excellent, and at $1390 for a 2-bedroom apartment the rent is no more absurd than it is everywhere nowadays. The process to actually get a lease was very taxing due to the income/credit/age restrictions, but once we moved in we've had no problems on that front. Where I have had problems is with maintenance responses to things like noise complaints. I've submitted multiple complaints due to neighbors playing loud music at unreasonable hours and every single time the maintenance person brushes it off. Our neighbors in an adjacent unit played the TV in their bedroom so loudly I couldn't sleep. Called maintenance when nobody responded to my knocking on the neighbor's door. Maintenance response? "That's not enough to qualify as a noise complaint. It has to be, like, shaking the walls loud. Muffled sounds are just part of apartment living." Our lease EXPLICITLY prohibits noise being played loud enough that people in adjacent units or the hallway can hear it between 10pm and 8am. Yet maintenance says "sorry, I can't do anything about that." So don't expect any support for noise complaints, and don't pay too much attention to all the specific addendums to the lease, because Rustic Village doesn't lift a finger to enforce them. Living here was great until it became clear that our landlords didn't really care about our experiences in the community as tenants, and maintenance is not reliable for support that is not for something physically broken or dysfunctional. I'm hoping to move in the near future to be in a better environment.

We've managed to get them to perform some other "finishing" duties that were not done, or we've done them, ourselves - cleaning splatters of paint left over the whole unit; cleaning splatters of paint or adhesive from the windows, and removing a large manufacturer's label that was left on a skylight when it was installed. Our latest request - filed first on October 26th, requested repair on the door between the mudroom and the garage. It was mis-hung, and there is about a 1/4" gap up the entire door, which is now letting in extremely cold air. I sent a second request last week, and no response at all from them. It is also a safety concern, because the door lock stays loose. In the meantime, they've installed some very nice bushes in front of all of the new townhomes - to attract new renters to the new units. If you rent here, be prepared to look over your unit very carefully before you move in, and insist that repairs be done before you give them any money.
