They also reacted to us touring them around our unit in real time, and I felt more confident as they were honest with what they would do or change from the outset, rather than saying what they thought I might want to hear. They have deep expertise, selling over 100 properties a year, so they have a very good beat on the current market and what works to sell your home to meet your goals (in our case, we hoped to reach a certain price quickly because we already had plans to move out).
The team is deep and goes beyond just Jason and Laura. They have several other team members that specialize in different services, as well. We interacted with Alex and Mike who helped us ready our property for the open houses, and were always available to answer questions. If you wish, they will also put together a "transformation contract" where they will pay up front for work to be done to the property (e.g., painting, handyman jobs, staging) and then will take their payment out of escrow after the property sells. Also, the team does not take any percentage of those quotes - all the money goes to the contractors. To me, this not only reflected their confidence in their ability to sell the property, but also was just genuinely helpful from a cash flow perspective, while also supporting local contractors. We went this route, and it was quite amazing, as they managed everything from scheduling, to letting people in the house, payment, etc. It was a seamless process. Then when once we got an offer, their transaction manager, Alma, was super helpful in answering all of our questions about the closing process.
I was initially a little concerned after we signed to work with them and I saw all the other properties they were currently selling as pretty much all of them were substantially more expensive than our property as they were luxury single family homes. In other words, I was worried we could be seen as lower priority because we wouldn't make them nearly as much money as sales of these other properties. However, not once during the entire process did I feel that way in practice. Our questions and concerns were always responded to immediately, and above and beyond what I expected. I had a fair bit of anxiety during the process as it was the first time we had sold a property, but Laura was there to sooth my anxieties and help me through every stage of the process. Jason, Laura and the entire team are not only pros, but just great and kind people.
I cannot think of any feedback I would provide in a constructive manner as we were very happy, well informed throughout the whole process and ended up with a result we were very happy with. I would absolutely work with the Berns team again and recommend them whole heartedly.
