I was already there and waiting, it made 0 sense why they couldn't do both, but I was kind, I listened, I made my appointment. Tell me why I'm waiting just as long with an appointment than without right now? They cannot give me any clarity on when I will be called or how appointments are honored. I'd rather we have no appointments and everyone roughs it out on a first come first served basis than have appointments that aren't even real. What an absolute failure.

Do not yell while you are in line or the registry cops will not let you in. Make sure all your paperwork is complete or you will not be served. Now, an appointment ONLY speeds up your check-in. You still go into the same queue as everyone who's just walking in off the street. As a result, you will need to wait 1-2 hours beyond your "appointment" time. What's more, there are multiple different queues (L, R, Q, M) that all show up on the same screen, with no explanation as to what they are, or what system they're calling the numbers in. E.g. they will call L76 and L77, then call Q545, Q546 and Q549, not calling any more L numbers for 12 or 13 minutes. Nobody will explain this to you, so you can't even eyeball how long your wait will be. Only nice element is that they have a computer you can log into your email with and print out documents, in case you forgot something or needed something extra. That's thoughtful. These are very solvable issues. This could work like the passport offices do: appointment only, except for emergencies that are manually screened.

If I ever feel like I'm not getting financially hosed at an RMV, I always feel like somethings not quite right. ( i.e. I forgot to fill out a certain form, didn't enter whatever I'm supposed to on my phone, etc. and I am doing something illegal.) My love of the RMV aside, this location is bright and clean and more spacious than their old spot in the mall. After waiting 45 minutes in line, I finally got to see someone. His name was Ben and he was actually such a nice, patient, helpful guy. I really appreciated his kindness while I was trying not to have a total Tuna Melt down while trying to get what I needed done. Long story short, I got what I needed done. I just appreciated Ben. And I feel I am 100% in the right to be angry, confused and annoyed whenever I go there. Long lines and you have to overpay whatever the heck you need. But every once in a while, you get a really nice guy who has a tough job yet was nice to me and I really appreciated that. The RMV employee, Caryssa, went above and beyond to assist me. She spent at least 45 minutes with me to get it resolved. Caryssa is an asset to the Pittsfield RMV office and should be commended. I don't know if I would have made it home safely if I left without the license, I was that upset. Thank you Caryssa!!

OK I was a dope and ran out of gas on I-93N last night. It…read morewas not my fault really, as my low gas light did not come on. Anyways, I felt like a fool. I felt unsafe, as cars and huge trucks flew past me at speeds well over 75MPH. I called 911 and the state Police dispatched the MAPFRE/ Commerce Insurance (current sponsor) Highway Assistance - which is basically a tow truck that helps with these kind of situations. The arrived in about 15inutes, gave me 1 gallon of gas, free of charge, and made sure that I safely pulled out back onto the highway. The guy was super nice, friendly, and cool. I tipped him as he really helped me out of a unpleasant situation. A wonderful service and valued program.

Ok, so the RMV as an institution is bollocks, certainly. Their website is awful, many of their…read moresystems make no sense. For instance, why don't they allow appointments for new vehicle registration? I guess they figure same day service is needed? I think they should have a better system. Also, why don't they do that on Saturdays? Evidence of how badly their systems function is the length of the lines outside before the RMV even opens. People know they need to take many hours off to do this. Anyway, I do want to give credit to the person I presume was supervisor when I went this morning. He was helpfully checking people's paperwork who were in line. It's incredibly frustrating to stand in line and be told you don't have the needed info so I very much appreciate this courtesy. He also gave a clear announcement and warned that not everyone was likely to be seen due to staffing levels. While extremely frustrating for those waiting, I still commend supervisors for clear communication. It's so rarely done and ultimately reduces mistrust and anxiety. So thank you, sir, for treating people like humans. So lacking these days!

I don't know if they treat the employees here well, but it seems like they're all miserable. The email and the text message tell you to be 15 mins early to check it. The lady in the front told me to go back out until the exact appointment time (the ones who were with me said the same thing). I just asked if I can sit inside since it wasn't busy at all. 5 mins before my appointment I saw the line growing so I stood in line. Another worker separated the ones in line by appointment time. The ones with the same time as me or earlier was moved to the green line. When I got to the counter, the lady asked for my application. It doesn't state on the email or text to fill an application out, nor did the lady who told me to come back at my exact time (I was 30 mins early just in case) told me to fill out an application. And so, the lady made me get out of line to fill an app and go back in line. It's stated that our appointment is 1:30 but here we are waiting. It took 30 mins, The way they talk to you is intimidating. I wanted to asked questions, but to avoid the attitude I just did my own research online instead while waiting. Anyways, if they state an appointment time, you should be seen at that time. Finally got called to desk 16. The lady was really rude, didn't speak up so I could barely hear her and she was of no help of all. And then when I went to take my picture they had me redo it many times because they said my head was tilting and I felt like my head was straight looking directly on the blue dot. The lady couldn't explain well in what I needed to do. In the end they told me I had to come back because the proof of residency I provided wasn't enough. I showed her a mail from my bank sending my new carb because I just moved out here. Really upset. I don't recommend this branch.
