I wouldn't say they were friendly but were still very professional and direct when I came here to get my parking permits for my movers arriving in a van. And I also came here to hand in an application for a mail in ballot several minutes prior to the 5pm deadline that day and a clerk was readily available to take it; that's something that would never happen in any of the other places I've lived.

Apparently the 7th wealthiest city in the United States according to some 2018 data, it is the home of famous Wellesley College and Babson College. Wellesley was settled in the 1630s and was incorporated as a separate city in 1881. I was here to meet up with friends for dinner and do some exploring. The city is served by the MBTA's commuter rail on the Framingham/Worcester line. There are are a number of stops in Wellesley including Wellesley Square. Good retail shopping and lots of restaurants in Wellesley. Parking in the city can be a challenge but I have to report that during the holiday season, the city suspends collection on their parking meters by covering them with canvas bags imprinted with the message "Compliments of Wellesley." Henry and Mark…read more The Fairhaven Town Hall is a stunning building that sits just across the street from the equally stunning town library. Both buildings were gifts from Henry Rogers, the very, very, very, very wealthy businessman who spent summers in Fairhaven. The building was opened in1894 and is constructed in the French Gothic Style. Huge, ornate, and resplendent, the building dominates the center of the small town. The inside is as wonderful as the outside with oak paneling, stain glass windows and lovely pictures everywhere. At one time the building also held the post office, police station and even a jail inside but now is mostly restricted to administrative offices and the usual town hall stuff. One the second floor is an amazing auditorium that held dances, plays, concerts and all kind of cool events. Mark Twain, who was a close buddy of Henry Rodgers, entertained here as well as other famous actors and musicians. The town hall has a lot of cool history and is an amazing building that continues to serve the community. Stunning inside and out, the building remains a very useful and beautiful gift from a very, very, very, very generous man.

My fiancee and I attempted to go apply for our intent to marriage license. Online, all it said that we needed was our IDs and both of our presences at the Town Hall. I should know. I checked at least once a week for the past two months. So much was my surprise when we entered the entirely empty office and are told that it would take two whole weeks for them to process a single email and to make an appointment to complete the state application for a marriage license. Massachusetts already has a three day waiting period so we'd be SOL. The absolutely unhelpful clerks- all three of them- wouldn't look my fiancee and I in the eye as they turned us down. They couldn't help us, even though when we got there, they were gossiping like mean girls in a COMPLETELY EMPTY office. Mind you, every single town around us has the appointment requirement explicitly listed on their website. The whole experience was awful and the clerks were rude. DO NOT GO HERE.

They've managed to keep it's exterior intact while updating the interior, and it all just looks awesome. The main hall inside is big enough for medium-sized events. They held the first Octoberfest there last fall. Elections are held here, many public services can be found here. It's a great office in a beautiful location with free parking all around.
