They took us right back to an agent who asked us about a dozen easy questions each, then said "as long as they don't find any arrests, we should be approved. We were out of the door ten minutes before our appointment time! About two hours after our interviews, the status changed on my application. Logging into the website, I saw we'd been approved already. The process was easy, and the people there couldn't be nicer.

Unbelievable...monsterous! Everyone near us in line who we talked to is missing their connecting…read moreflights!! We landed at 3:15 (40 minutes early)... We don't have global entry / I'm going to get it...so we were in a standard line. It took us from 3:15 to 5:45 to get through security! If we didn't land 40 minutes early, we would have missed our connection !!! The Customs agent we had paused to comment how we should have filled out our customs doc to save a minute - we replied the airline personnel distinctly told us NOT to fill it out. The TSA agent went on and on complaining. As if to say the long slow line is not his fault? I don't blame any of the agents. I'd say 1/3 or at least 1/4 of the TSA Customs booths were empty. I'd say the govt TSA management at O'Hare is inefficient. Their budgeting and manpower planning seems barely functional. We ended up running to our flight n barely made it by 2-3 minutes before they closed the door. One other couple made it on behind us and United left about 7 minutes late - fortunately waiting for us. Why 1 star? Because zero is not an option.

Let's talk about vehicle stickers…read more I was not aware of this phenomenon until I moved to Illinois. I was not aware that many suburbs had them until I moved to Wood Dale. THOSE stickers are actual stickers. They are an enormous pain to get off. It took me over an hour to scrape, peel, razor and spray my previous two off. So enter Lombard. You know what Lombard's vehicle stickers are? Vinyl cling. No adhesive, no mess. BRILLIANT. I love it. It's such a small thing, and yet, I am so grateful. For I know as long as we live in Lombard, I will not have to peel and scrape endless stickers off my windshield each year. (Oh, and the police and public works departments are pretty helpful, as previously noted. They listen to my suggestions. They take my stolen GPS report without calling me an idiot. They CALL me to explain why there's no crosswalk at Highland and Majestic. Rock and roll.)

Please explain to me why it is now 7/17 and the storm debris is STILL on every street? I've driven through Elmhurst and Villa Park and they are at least making progress. But you? Nooooo. Also, remember that blurb in my original review about the oversight on my part in paying my sewer bill? Did you have to retaliate with oversight on YOUR part in closing the file on that as PAID? The mortgage company was not amused when it came time to re-finance. Neither was I.

I read people's…read morecomments on FB EGV groups (which I left all of them) and allowed local businesses to supply me with their services. It is like pulling the toupe off a guy and seeing he is bald. Elk Grove Village is a Self Rule Government that apparently (by reading other people's comments who have lived here for years) does as it wishes. The fire department employees are great people. The police department has nice people also, but does some underhanded hiding to snag speeders such as parking in the middle of the road at night with their lights off. I called them out on this and I was told it's legal and that is how they make money. Sure it's legal. Shaking my head. There is a great industrial park where a Freedom of Information Act should be filed as to how much tax dollars are coming into this village for there is not one park bench found except for along Devon Avenue where they have some sculptured Elk. Devon is not very close to residential areas. The residents have pointed out to me the government has offered land development contracts to friends out of the area (no proof of any friendship). They have torn down a bowling alley people used. Restaurants have closed up due to daydreaming landlords of property value. The Jewel/Osco during the last snowstorm let the people's feet melt the ice and snow. The manager of course blamed the landlord. The hospital, is a whole other story in itself. The people are nice for the most part. They are NOT heroes because they worked during the pandemic. A hero has a different meaning than doing your job. This last time I was there in the emergency room with terrible stabbing pains in my back, the nurse wheeled me into a small intake room and whacked the side of the chair into the doorway. No sorry as I grimaced in pain. EGV is not cute by any stretch of the word unless you think Rumplestilskin was handsome. If you want cute, go to Galena. That is cute. EGV...Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The Cook County Building is located on the corner of Clark and Washington. It's a beautiful building, and this iteration (it's been rebuilt several times over the course of Chicago's history) is the third that has been shared with the city hall. It's a Holibard & Roache-designed structure, the storied firm that designed several of the city's treasures. My visit here was to the city side to pick up residential parking permits. I was really glad that I wasn't here for the vital statistics office of county clerk's office, because that line was out the door and down the hall. When I went to pick up copies of my daughter's birth certificate, I went to the Skokie Courthouse and was in and out within ten minutes, so if you're able to get there for some of the vital stats docs, I'd suggest doing so.

A Chicago Landmark [Chicago IL]…read more This bridge is actually the DuSable Bridge (formerly the Michigan Avenue Bridge). The bridge is a gateway to the Magnificent Mile. We walked past this bridge and ascended from the Riverwalk from this bridge. We also drove through it while navigating our way through the city... but I paid more attention to Chicago's famous buildings more than the bridge. It isn't a long bridge but why is it popular especially when there are other bridges that crosses over the Chicago River in Downtown Chicago. Aha! I googled! Well, this bridge is movable with counterweights that lift so that boats can pass underneath. I've never seen it in action though. The bridge was named after the Haitian-born explorer and trader Jean Baptiste Point du Sable and there is a bust of him at the end of the bridge. Anyway, while there is historic significance to this bridge that dates back to when it opened in 1920 I just marveled at the spectacular views from the bridge... also, the former name is easier to remember, the Michigan Avenue Bridge.
