While my rental truck worked well ok the day I picked it up, the key fab died overnight. When I went to put the spare key into the door handle, the key did not fit. I called roadside assistance, who arranged for a tow and a replace vehicle. However, the store, where I was instructed to get the replacement, had not been informed that I was coming. Additionally, they did not have a truck, which I needed for my business trip. While I was provided a vehicle, I was unable to get to the job site on time for the first day of my trip. As I still needed a truck for the second day of my trip, I called back to roadside assistance to get another replacement closer to my second destination. They confirmed that a replacement wpuld be available. However, again, the next store had not been informed that I was coming. Luckily, they had a truck in the shop which was ready for pick up. Overall, better internal communication is needed to effectively work as a company and successfully service your customers. read more

This National is I on-site at the CVG airport. It's located in the parking garage--so very convenient! They had a good selection of cars in the executive lot. Mostly cars & smaller SUV but more than enough for the people that arrived around the same time as me. The car was clean with no smells. Another decent rental car experience from National. Checking out took a little longer than usual, as this was the 2nd rental in a row (from two different locations) where they held up checking me out at the gate because the car I selected in the Executive Emerald Isle as a "hold" on it. Very odd and random, as I've never experienced this during any of the many other rentals I've gotten from them over the years. Other than that, the vehicle was nice... Checking back in was smooth and efficient... I'd continue to rent from them. For a wedding and my transportation fell apart tomorrow my hotel. I had to rent a car at the ladt minute and National was amazing. I looked at another car company whose employee was rude and kept telling me "I have other customers ", and I was the only person in line. A very easy 5 stars on a flawless tip to bottom, beginning to end transaction. The front end at the counter service was professional and friendly. The gentleman had me out the door in minutes. The choosing of my car in Emerald Aisle selection was also easy and made even better by an employee named Roy. He had a few stories as he assisted me and even opened the tailgate for my luggage. He was also knowledgeable about the cars in the inventory. It was amazing to see every category full of newer model cars. I ultimately chose a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid with 320 miles on it, The car performed well over 350 miles in three days. The return was easy, but more airport signage to the return station would be appreciated. A staff checked in the car and offered a receipt. Love this location and the Emerald Aisle. This time the young man apologized for the lack of selection and said take anything from the Executive selection. I chose an Infinity QX60. It was a sweet ride. But so many cameras and bells and whistles that I never figured them all out. The location is so nice to be an easy walk from the terminal with need for a shuttle. We were returning early and the app said it was after hours. But when we pulled up we saw an agent and easily returned the car. read more

I've been renting with national at CVG for several years now and always enjoyed very "hometown" type of service. They waited late night to pick Me up. Saved me a car when they were nearly out and knew I was arriving in on the last flight of the day. People are always friendly and accommodating which is so nice. The selection can be slim pickings in the executive aisle some days buts it's a crap shoot anywhere these days. The new rental car center just makes everything better. Cars are closer and more easily organized. No shuttle buses and quicker drop off and pick ups. The national/enterprise/Alamo level is on the same level with departures so it's a quick easy walk when you drop your car off. Always nice cars that are clean and in good working order. Also, you can use your national and enterprise loyalty numbers in a reciprocal manner to streamline points and free days. read more

On Saturday April 29, 2023 , I attempted to rent a car from Enterprise Car rental in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport. My booking reservation was with Enterprise for a car pickup at 5 am. Enterprise Rep. Larry handed me off to National Car Rental the co-partner of Enterprise due to cars unavailability. Assist. Mgr. Amonte/National car rental arrived on the car site at 5:45 am. to open. His attitude was that of a total JERK! And that word is putting it lightly. As I stood there asking and questioning him about my car rental he began screaming at me. Walking up to me and putting his finger in my face. I immediately told him to get his finger out of my face and he did not. That's when I started screaming back . I am a 72 year old woman and was in fear of what was going to happen next. Were we getting ready to make the MORNING NEWS? I have called and tried to complain to National Car Rental for over 60 days. I was told someone would get back to me and have heard nothing. 9-10-19 Update: The Asst. Manger that helped us was Joe Molchan, a wonderful guy, informative and helpful. National, give Joe a bonus or a raise! This was all about two things, service and selection. Selection was broad however, qualify for the Executive row which had plenty of nice mid sized cars from all the brands that all looked the same. Which was fine too, all nice cars. But we needed a larger vehicle to handle more people. A manager named Joe must have seen us struggling to decide and came out to see if we needed help. We told him we really needed an SUV or van that could seat 7 adults comfortably. But there were none in our class group. Looking around there were plenty of large vehicles around us but none in the executive section. He basically said, lets get you what you need. We started heading toward a row of large SUV's and he didn't just walk away, he stayed with us, offered opinions about gas milage, comfort and prior customer comments. We tucked our heads in a few vehicles (a few had lingering smoke odors despite the rules of no smoking and they had cleaned the cars well but that's still hard to get out). We ended up in a Ford Expedition with an extended length and 3rd row. I would compare this to a nice Surburban which I often rent with larger groups. The Ford was really nice, great features, very comfortable seats, low on gas for a large vehicle and very nicely appointed. Clearly several steps up in class or grade. Some car companies rent versions of cars that are not ever made for consumers, with bad seats, shorter lengths or missing standard features. This Ford had all the upgrades in fact it was very comparable to it's Lincoln counterpart. Joe hands me his card and tells me to hand it to the person at the check out booth and let them know not to mark up my rental cost higher than what I had reserved (this vehicle would have doubled the price)! Sweeeet! Check out was fast and easy and no fuss. This is what customer service is supposed to be, Joe saw we had a problem, came outside, walked across the parking lot and helped us until we were more than happy. Most other places would have noticed us (maybe) but ignored us or try to upsell us, or worse denigrate us for not being a premium renter. Well done Joe, and National! We'll be back! BTW - If I find Joe's card I'll come back and add his last name. This is why I'm a committed National customer. I can always count on great service, better cars and easy systems that are well thought out so i can rent online fast. read more

This has been my favorite National rental facility so far. Drivers are always friendly and courteous, buses are frequent and the staff at the facility is super helpful. Car selection has been excellent and the whole process is easy, get in and get out. Not sure what they do different at this location but is working and keep it up! I've had zero issues, only positive experiences-this location is about 2-4 minutes from the actual airport, a bus comes to the airport to pick you up and drops you off at two different spots depending on your membership level. During my travels to Cincinnati, OH, I needed a rental car. Before I stepped on the plane, I put in a cool bid on Priceline that helped me smile a bit. I had gotten National Car Rental @ CVG airport. With that said, I arrived in Cincinnati, OH on a recent trip and proceeded to the car rental area. The shuttle driver was nice and courteous. Upon arrival to the National counter, there was a few people ahead of me, but I waited patiently for my turn. The service was fast and pleasant. She asked me for my drivers license and a major credit card before processing my reservation. After asking various questions about insurance and gasoline, I got a free upgrade from compact to mid sized and that was great. I ultimately chose a hybrid Black Prius, which it was my first time driving ever. The National Car Rental Center kiosk is located with the Alamo rental car desk in a building adjacent to the CVG regional airport. Like a all major car rental companies, they do take credit cards. Not sure what would happen if you wanted to pay in cash or debt card. I opted for the LDW insurance waiver, since you don't know what can happen out there on the roads. It cost about $24/day, which was kind of normal for these types of insurance. The National Car center was clean, as it should be. The car itself drove well and happy that I chose that car for my travels on this recent trip to Cincinnati. The check back in process was short and sweet. The person checked the car back into the inventory, the gas, and the mileage before giving me my receipt. I whisked away into the National Car shuttle to return to the airport terminal. Since I was in Cincinnati recently to run the Cincinnati Flying Pig marathon, I was wearing my finisher medallion and a few National Car rental employees made small talk with me about it and that was kind of cool. Made me smile, while everything in my body ached. While I am not a National rental car Emerald Club member, this rental car company is pretty cool to rent from. Not only did I get a free upgrade from compact to mid size, but the service was done professionally. While the prices can be a sticker shock on National's website, best bet would be to do Priceline or other car rental comparing sites to get the best deal, but it can be a crap shoot when choosing the right one. I like National, since you can choose your own car within the car class, instead of them assigning a specific car to you. Support local! B+ read more

Shuttle bus parking sucks, it's a hike. For a ghost town of an airport they still have the buses pick you up far away, here's a trick, use door 10, the airport employee door as National picks up right in front of that door. Emerald Aisle and Executive Selection is typically pretty dismal. Shame is, the entire lot appears full, it seems it's just filled with crappy cars. Ended up at first in a Ford Fusion with the parking brake set. Figured out how to release the parking brake and pull that car forward to grab another Ford Fusion, this one a hybrid. The only thing I really hope for anymore with National is a car that doesn't smell like someone died in it from second hand smoke. I've given up on National for decent cars, I've given up on them for satellite radio. That's the only thing I ask for anymore, just a car that doesn't make you gag from the stench. read more

I had absolutely no intention of coming to this National location, but fate and a little bit of quick thinking led to a very nice experience. I was supposed to fly out of Indianapolis, but a series of maintenance mishaps and full flights meant that Delta had absolutely no good answer for this Diamond in dire straits. Thankfully, a quick call to National, and they were much better able to help out this Executive Elite. National got me into a one-way rental from Indy to CVG, which was the closest airport that Delta could get me a flight from to go home. I arrived at CVG in what was probably a wide-eyed desperate rush, and quickly rattled off my situation to the National rep who met my car. She acted decisively, got on the radio to the bus driver and asked him to hold on so that I could immediately turn around and get to the terminal to catch the flight leaving in less than 1 hour. The bus driver jumped down and helped me with my 3 suitcases, and in minutes I was at Delta's check-in area. I had one minor quibble after noticing that National had charged me a refueling fee, despite my having stopped less than 5 miles up the road to fill up the tank and the car being full of gas when I dropped it off. Thankfully, I'd kept the gas receipt and National were honourable enough to take my word for it and dropped the charge. All in all, a great customer service experience. These guys understand busy travelers, and stand ready to help out wherever/however they can. read more

***This National (at Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport) features several vehicles in their executive aisle though they were mostly Nissan sedans (Altima and/or Maxima) in different colors on my visit; that being said, there were a few SUVs and even a hybrid sedan available; getting in and out of this rental agency was quick though you do need to take a shuttle to get to and from the airport (I did not have to wait for a rental car shuttle when arriving or departing though)*** I am not sure if this rental agency has parking spaces available if you just need to stop by this agency to ask a question, make a reservation or pick up a lost item. read more

National Car Rental. I could write you a song. This location, as with most of this chain's locations, allows you to choose the car you drive if you are an Emerald Club member. There are so many reasons why this is awesome. The first reason is that I have some very specific features I look for in a rental. I travel a lot, especially by car, for business. When I'm driving 4 hours, I want to be comfortable and have all the amenities that I'd have in my own vehicle. Another reason- almost any car you choose off this lot is brand new, sparklingly clean and smells good! (Usually still has that new car smell. Ahhhh!) There are two lanes checking customers out, so you rarely have to wait more than a few minutes to get off the lot. The shuttle is fast (if you have to ride it, which I usually don't, since I'm local) and the drivers are friendly. National Customer Service should get a medal for ALWAYS being helpful and always getting satisfactory results for me. There are so many experiences I've had with them that keep me coming back to them every time. My company has chosen another rental car provider as our single-source car rental provider and I am HEARTBROKEN. In my personal travels, I will choose National every time forever. If you have a choice, YOU should choose them too! You will NOT be sorry. read more

We were traveling with our young child and had many bags to move from the rental car to the shuttle, and then from the shuttle to the airport terminal. We received not even an offer of assistance from Sidney as he was too busy chatting with a female employee and otherwise unable to recognize that he was still on the clock at work. In fact he didn't acknowledge or assist any of the customers as they came on to, and as they left the shuttle. I switched over to National (from Hertz) at the end of November, just because of all of the great publicity my teammates were providing me from their rentals with National. That, and I am just plain tired of Hertz (tired of their dirty cars...especially interior windows, their hit-or-miss selection of vehicles, and some of their less than customer service oriented rental site folks...especially Atlanta, GA and West Palm Beach, FL) So I am on my second week of renting with National here in Ohio, and being able to go and pick whatever car I want from the Executive Elite selection (had a new V6 Dodge Charger last week, and have a brand new Chevy Impala LT this week) makes all the difference in the world! So yes, easy rental and return, and so far, no major issues. However, a few recommendations/suggestions for improvement: 1. CLEAN THE INSIDE WINDOWS SURFACES OF ALL YOUR CARS! When I see symmetrical suction cup marks on the inside of the front window, that means the window has NEVER been cleaned on the inside! The suction cup marks are from the factory assembly line and are used to lower the glass into place...and when I see them, and a greasy film on the inside of the windows, then someone is not doing their job. This is one of my pet peeves, and as a result, I write little messages directly into the greasy film (using my fingers) so that I might get the cleaning crew's attention! ;-) 2. PLEASE turn the flood lights on to illuminate the Emerald Isle area, and keep them on after hours! Last week, when I had my first rental with National, the lights were off around 11:30 PM, and I had no idea where the Executive Elite cars were located. I did end up finding the Emerald Isle sign, and the right cars, but it was very dark and not having illumination at that time of night was a challenge for a first timer. Either that, or put all the cars under a protected parking area with a roof and lighting (like Hertz does for their #1 Club Gold folks.) 3. When I checked my car out last week, I realized that three days into the rental, all I had was the 'hanger' card when I left the lot (no printed rental agreement whatsoever.) So this week, I made sure to ask the attendant for a copy of the National rental agreement...and he acted like I had asked him for a million dollars. He eventually printed a copy, but it seems to me as though it was an afterthought. STRONGLY suggest you provide EVERY customer with a printed rental agreement for each car by default...just in case they get in an accident or get pulled over by the cops. 4. My brand new 2016 Chevy Impala has a Sirius/XM enabled factory radio, but none of the channels are active. What's up with that? I thought all new cars that came with Sirius/XM have it active for at least a year (...as all my Chevy Cruze sedans with Hertz sure did!) So no Sirius/XM with a brand new Chevrolet Impala with just 2200 miles? Bummer. That's it for now. Will be renting from National from now on, as the CVG airport rental property has done a good job! One of the pluses of my weekly commute to Cincinnati is the gang at National Car Rental. Major, MAJOR kudos to Brian - the rep out on the lot who helps direct Emerald & Executive Club members. He's just the right mixture of warm, professional courtesy and level headed problem solver, and tho' a lot of customers simply rush past him in search of the "perfect" rental, he's always diligent and attentive, in case he's needed. The other welcoming factor @ CVG's National are the cashiers in the booth. I normally arrive during the Monday morning business stampede, with cars lined up 10 - 20 vehicles deep, yet these ladies maintain a friendly, welcoming, and professional smile, while maintaining a fast and efficient pace. This is the way to start the week off right. These guys prove that warm, friendly, hospitality does not have to be sacrificed in order to maintain a efficient, effective, level of professional hospitality. read more
