I rented a Jeep from Alamo Rent a Car in Ky in January to get home to Florida. To say it was problematic is to say it lightly. There were issues, like finding a bullet in the car that was supposedly cleaned. Or having your check engine light come on, because it needs it's service RIGHT NOW, on a car that should have been fleet serviced. When I called, asking if I should bring it in, the call center person who was not in the USA and did not understand what I was asking told me he didn't know. Fair enough, but he should have escalated the call. Yes, I did let Alamo Know that I was unsatisfied. I did not ask for this to be comped because the car did the drive to Florida fine. Had a great experience checking in, but an awful time getting roadside assistance, even though I paid for it. I went through 3 representatives to get someone sent out to change my tire. The first two representatives were rude and unhelpful, and refused to send anyone out. The second representative told me to call the police, which made no sense for a flat tire.The company that did the tire change was prompt and great to work with. When I exchanged my car, the gentleman was extremely nice and helpful. The lack of service getting someone out to change my tire out of state on the highway has made me realize I will never use Alamo again as a company, and will stick with Hertz. Got a car through Travelocity online and it was a maxima and when I got to The check out counter I asked how much to upgrade to the challenger. I own one and love it so I was use to driving it. There was no charge to Upgrade. Check out took less than 5 mins Car was clean had no issues. Drop off was park and leave keys. Prepaid for an intermediate level vehicle on the Allegiant website over a week before my trip. When I arrived at CVG they did not have my vehicle and wanted to charge me an extra $26+ for a larger vehicle. They made some excuse about airport fees and that I would have to pay extra to get a vehicle. None of the employees at the counter had name tags or identified themselves by name. This was August 10, 8:30pm. I asked for a supervisor who also was not wearing a badge or identification name tag. She said the same exact thing the first guy said so I asked how much of my trip was the rental so I could compare prices to what else was available. They could not tell me how much, just that it would be an additional $26+ for a vehicle. When I asked for her name and the other employees name to file a complaint, she refused and called up the next guest. Then she called over another supervisor who clearly enjoys steroids and told him I was screaming at her, which both police officers standing nearby did not witness or seem to notice any disturbance as I was calmly asking for escalation to another supervisor in a regular voice when she refused to assist. I let her know I was recording for my safety and to keep her honest. The second supervisor said he was cancelling my reservation and asked me to leave. I asked for a refund which he refused to process. I called Allegiant directly and they offered to refund my rental car and profusely apologized. I then walked 15 feet over to the Avis counter and they gave me an upgraded SUV at the compact price since they were also out of smaller cars. I ended up saving over $50 by using Avis instead. The counter attendant was much nicer and happy to earn my business. They gave me a TRD off-road Toyota Highlander, which was excellent for my trip as I was in Kentucky buying a Toyota at a local dealer. Alamo employees should be wearing name tags, and required to identify themselves if they are working with the public. No one was wearing Alamo apparel or identification behind the counter. I prepaid for a car through their Allegiant partnership, but they still charged me $150 in fees when I got there. I was tired and discouraged, and as I tried to leave, I got in an argument with some random lady who was blocking the exit. She said she wouldn't move her car because it was "not the exit". I asked her politely twice to move and she wouldn't, so I then drove around her car. The manager Kyle called me and said she was a securities guard placed there to guard the exit, and that I needed to go out the other exit to verify which car I picked. The woman had never identified herself as an employee or explained why I couldn't take that exit. The manager made it clear that he did not believe me. The manager went on to say that I had told her to "get the fuck out of my way" and tried to drive over her. I told him he was lying and he said "I was standing right there". I asked to speak to his supervisor and he claimed he was the highest up guy I could talk to. I asked for his supervisor again and he told me I had "stolen the car" and that he was going to call the police if I didn't come back and return it, even though I had prepaid for the car, and they also had my credit card on file for the additional fees. I was with my sister and I started crying. She tried to call the corporate office, but we didn't hear back from Kyle's manager. So I had to go return the car to avoid the police being called. My sister followed me back, returned the car and took me to a different rental place. They only issued a partial refund of the $150, but not the original amount I had paid. I got another car, got on the road, only to realize about an hour later, that I had left several crucial medications in the original car. The Alamo location wouldn't answer their phone, so I drove back. The car was gone, rented out to someone else. After a great amount of expense and effort, I was able to buy some of the medication I had lost, and I had to do without some others all weekend. Alamo still hasn't called me back or refunded me the original amount that I prepaid for the car, which they rented out to someone else for a profit. read more

The shuttle drivers were especially friendly and helpful, and we had a quick and smooth transaction at the desk, with no obnoxious upselling. The reason for the low rating, however, is the condition of the cars. We were offered a choice of three. The first one was filthy. It looked as if a shedding dog had ridden in the back , it smelled, and the front seat was smeared with something. See attached photo. The second was clean inside but had the most banged up exterior we've ever seen at a rental agency. Photo attached. Another customer grabbed the third car before we had a chance to check it out, so we chose the beat-up-but-clean model, which was actually a nice car otherwise. The overall condition of these cars, however, was surprising and inexcusable. UPDATE: I immediately emailed Alamo with my information after reading their kind response here on Yelp. On Thursday, October 24th, I rented a Standard Car from Alamo at Cincinnati Airport (Hebron, Kentucky) via a Costco Travel booking for less than $200. I was offered a vehicle upgrade to an SUV at no extra charge. I also declined insurance ("CDW"), but it was added to the invoice anyway. I did agree to the fuel service option. I had planned to return the car at 11:30 PM on Sunday, October 27th, but I was offered 4 full days at no extra charge until Monday, October 28th as my flight was leaving Cincinnati at 6:00 AM, October 28th. I tried to telephone the Alamo rental office at +18597673655 on Saturday, October 26th to confirm a rental return time of Monday morning at 4:00 AM, but no one ever at that office ever answered my call. My credit card was charged $517.06 by Alamo on October 28th. Finally, no receipt was provided upon return of the vehicle, no e-mail receipts, and no receipt is available on Alamo's website read more

Apparently they have no after hours pick up or concessions like Budget has even if your flight arrives in late. Good thing I called becuase we have a late flight. I rented a car via Priceline for a quick trip into the Cincy area for a wedding. No problems picking it up and mostly nice people. I turned in the car before 11am and got on a flight to Dallas. When I landed I had a charge that said I dropped the car off in Indiana. Not unless I could drive over 200 mph and somehow get on that plane too. Tried to call and have been on hold 4 times for over 30 minutes. Also, GET A RECEIPT. I asked and the guy said it would be emailed. It never came. Complete dishonesty. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and they do not care to assist me with my issue. No one will answer at the location. Edit: Two hours later and still cannot get in contact with anyone at the office. It only goes to an automated system with no option to talk to a human. Press "zero" and it disconnects. Have talked to several Alamo representatives from St. Louis and elsewhere with no real help and given phone numbers that do not work. Use ANYONE ELSE but Alamo. read more

Check-in was quick and flawless. I was due to turn in the vehicle on Friday at 11:00 a.m. I decided to turn it in early at 1:30 a.m. because the roads were slick from the snow and I just wanted to return it safely as soon as possible. Technically, they stopped receiving rentals at 1:00 a.m. but they made an exception for me! I am super grateful! All the entrances were closed and I accidentally drove up to the wrong entrance so Dean had to walk all the way to where we were to let us know to drive to the other entrance and it was 20 degrees outside! After searching several websites for car rental prices, the cheapest I found was for an Alamo rental via Expedia. I rented a midsize car for 3 days and 4 hours (including a weekend) for only $75 (I was originally quoted $80 and charged even less). I ordered online and was told that I would not be charged immediately. I expected some issues and was surprised to have none. When I arrived in Cincinnati I followed the signs for car rentals. After a few seconds, a shuttle bus picked me up and took me to Alamo. I arrived and gave them my information. I was then handed paperwork and told to "pick a car" from the mid-size row. The entire process was very fast and easy. I noticed that there was one Toyota Corolla in the lot. That was my choice of car, so I grabbed it. As I was driving away I noticed that it only had 1200 miles on it. TWELVE HUNDRED. This car was brand stinking new and it was AWESOME. It had all of the bells and whistles too. After you pick up your car, you have to check out again at a booth as you are driving out of the parking lot. This is the only time I had an issue. I had tossed my paperwork in my trunk with all my luggage because I didn't know that I would need it. The guy at the booth told me I had to have it. After my Dad hopped out and struggled to find it in the trunk, he then said he didn't need it. He was a little rude about it. A few minutes later we were on our way. To drop off the car, I pulled up and a Gentleman approached me right away to read the gas gauge and miles. He told me I would be charged the $75 and signed off on a receipt for me to take. It only took a few seconds. I was sad to say goodbye to the car. I purposely waited to do this review. I wanted to make sure I was not charged anything extra by Alamo. I have been burned by a different car rental agency in the past. There were no issues with Alamo! They charged what they told me and that was it!! I will definitely use Alamo again the next time I travel. read more

If I could "0" stars, I would! Terrible service. I reserved a small SUV. Upon arrival, they stated they only had minivans (too large). I was then instructed to wait until an SUV was cleaned. As I waited, three gentleman rented after me. Two for an SUV & one for a mid-size. All three upgraded (BMW, pickup truck & a muscle car of sorts) and well on their way. After 42 minutes, my reserved vehicle was now ready. I asked both Taylor & Ari why I wasn't offered another vehicle like the 3 men after me. She stated, that they were "specialty vehicles"? I started recording & asked same question. Ari stated, "I did tell you" (referring to other car options). She blatantly lied & I told her so due to being recorded. After advising that I would be reporting, Taylor snatched agreement out of my hand then states, "you can't have a car then". I rented a car from this location about a week ago and only had it for a day. I accidentally left an item in the back seat behind the drivers seat. I tried to call immediately when I got to my hotel, but the office was already closed. So the next morning I went in early before my flight, just for them to tell me it wasn't there. Less than 12 hours later and my belongings were gone? It was very upsetting because the things I had left cost more than what I spent on the rental that day. I called later and was told they "checked the tapes" and nothing was taken out of the car when it was being cleaned. It's a bold thing to say especially because since the fact that I swear on my life the bag was never taken out by me the whole day. So apparently it just disappeared and I have to live with the consequences and loss of money. I understand it was my fault for leaving it, but does that mean after making one mistake my stuff is just taken home or thrown out? I should be able to trust the company I use and I unfortunately don't trust to use this company again. read more

When I returned the car early in the morning of Oct 31, I forgot to take the fobs out of my pocket and didn't realize my mistake until I arrived at the airport. Once I got through security, I immediately tried to call the location, but was not able to get through due to the early hour. I tried again a few times before boarding with no success. When I arrived at my layover, I called again and reached an agent who told me "no big deal, happens all the time". She said that I needed to ship the keys back and all would be fine. I specifically asked if they needed to be overnighted and she replied that they didn't need to be, but something faster than Ground would be appreciated. I stopped off and shipped them 3 Day Select on my way home. The next week I recieved a charge for $198 on my card. When I called to inquire, I was told that the keys didn't arrive until the 5th (the day before I was charged). Apparently Alamo doesn't understand that UPS does't operate on weekends. I was told that I must have reached a call center because everyone at the location knows that keys/fobs have to be overnighted back. If the location and the call center can't communicate better, then they might as well shut down the forwarding of calls there. I asked if there was any way we could meet in the middle on this and was told no, that I just learned a $230 dollar lesson and that I might as well have tossed the fobs in the garbage can. I get that they lost out on rental for the days they didn't have the fobs. I was concerned about that when I called in. However, in the initial call I was told that it wasn't a problem and I assumed that they weren't concerned about it, being it was the fall season. If Alamo is that dysfunctional a company, I won't be renting there again. read more

It turned out we did need it since each driver had separate policies. He also gave us some bottled water while we waited on the phone with the insurance companies. Also, the vehicle we were going to go with had some garbage in it (why I chose 4 stars) but it would've been easy to clean. I feel as though there are some Alamo (and rental car locations, in general) that are honest, and some that try to screw you over or, at the minimum, squeeze the most money out of you. This place felt like the latter. Went to pick up the car and handed me a bill with extra insurance I didn't ask for and then told me when I asked to take it off that it was my fault for putting it on the reservation when I rented the car...which I did not. After expressing her frustration with me, she begrudgingly fixed it. Then when I went to drive the car off the lot, I noted it only had a 1/4 tank of gas. I asked the lot attendant if that was noted so that I didn't have to fill it, and he responded "I'll note that it was half full, if you'd like", but since it wasn't half full I just asked them to fill it to full which he did. I think you just need to look out for yourself at this one, everyone was nice, but I question the integrity/honestly of the place, albeit based on just one rental car experience. Avoid avoid avoid! I rented an Alamo car from the Alamo-Enterprise-National office at CVG airport on Saturday June 6, 2020 and had to wait in line for over an hour. There was 1 employee doing all the check-ins and returns and was SO slow. It took him a full hour to get through about ten customers. Furthermore, this location did not have air condition. It was practically a human rights violation to keep people waiting for an hour in over 80 degree weather. read more
