I was SA'ed, physically t.o.r.t.u.r.e.d at gunpoint in a chair, and nearly deleted here by security during my training in the Hazmat medic class while training for my job as a Paramedic at Campbell County Health in Gillette, Wyoming (They've removed my Google Review again). I documented a severe incident of police brutality at Campbell County Detention Center prior to being sent to the NETC for Hazmat Medic Training. Considering that back in Dec 2017 | was abducted by two female NETC security officers (..S:.0. r. r. e. I.. and '..R:.@. c. h. e. 1-S:.i .n. C.1. @. i.r.."- ADLTFilm.Model:S.h.e.F.i.g.h.t.s., ../C:.R.. U.. D.. E.. L.. I.. S\... .../A:.M.. A.. T.. O.. R\..., MC) at this facility who told me they thought I was "Cute," falsely imprisoned with threats of d.e.a.d.l.y. force (being S.H.O. T with their sidearm) and incarceration, prevented from calling 911, SA'ed (inappropriately g.r.0.p.e.d. my privates, arms, buttocks several times even after being told to stop), subjected to physical t.o.r.t.u.r.e. with a firearm pointed at me while in a chair and forced to falsely confess to c.r.i.m.e.s. I've never committed and act out horrendous scenes while being recorded via cell phone by said officers, my experience here was AWFUL. (I did NOT consent to any of this.) It ruined my experience as a healthcare provider, and the P.T.S.D. I've acquired from being treated like an animal and c.o.e.r.c.e.d. away from reporting the incident to law enforcement or ems by the NETC Director of Security (..J:.a. s. 0. n...B:.r. i. t. t. 0. n... C:.a.w. t.h.0.n..), who also made me withdraw a significant amount of cash from an ATM on campus to give to him following the incident) didn't help at all. My family, friends, coworkers, and even my girlfriend at the time were used against me by having them help investigate/attempt-to-e.n.t.r.a.p. me following this incident. If you're a Black man and have any doubts about your safety while attending classes at the NETC-National Fire Academy, I strongly urge you to take my experience into consideration. This organization (nor their affiliates) has yet to hold any of their people accountable, for any of this. read more

What a beautiful campus! It's highly secure and is beautiful to walk around. There are ample classroom spaces, though if you're in a large class the space can get tight. The rec facilities are top notch. The dining hall serves basic cafeteria fare - not amazing food but perfectly serviceable. The Command Post pub is a lot of fun and is a comfortable place to relax with friends. I loved walking and running campus. Scattered around the main grounds are the 9/11 Memorial, Fallen Firefighters Memorial, and the Civil Defense Memorial. All beautiful and meaningful. read more

The National Emergency Training Center is the preeminent national center for emergency management training in the US. It occupies the former campus of St. Joseph's College, established by the first American citizen canonized by the Roman Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The Generalite of the Daughters of Charity is steps away from NETC. The College, founded in 1809, closed down in 1973 and merged with nearby Mt St Mary's University, a coed Catholic Institution. Entering the old, now fenced in campus of St. Joseph is an experience in history and emotion. Many of the main buildings date from the 1830s and are meticulously preserved. Both Union and Confederate forces occupied the campus in the events immediately preceding the Battle of Gettysburg, and the Sisters had established a hospital which cared for the wounded regardless of origin. Based on an agreement with the Federal Government when FEMA acquired the facility, all religious symbols that were a part of the building structures cannot be disturbed. As a result, the crosses, campanary, and chapel altars are undisturbed. And the solemnity of the buildings lend an even more reason for additional emotions when one realizes that the campus contains the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The only drawback of NETC is the dormitories. Even with recent renovations, they are sub standard by today's standards. read more

Great place to learn about emergency management and first responder responsibilities. Most of the courses are lecture based and has the potential to be improved. There is a cafe on campus and shuttles are provided to picked you up from the various approved airports. The is also a pub on campus which has karaoke on Wednesday's. If you have the chance check out the cabin and have dinner there. Nice gym and great area to exercise and run. The lodging area can be improved. Definitely potential to be improved. read more

What a beautiful campus and great training. FEMA has an intensive and comprehensive learning curriculum setup here. Every needed amenity is provided; full gym, pool, bikes, computer room, cafeteria, pub and more. The campus is so serene, you can just sit and take it all in. The neighboring towns have all the shopping needs & eateries. Come for the training, but enjoy the experience. read more

I really enjoyed listening to the history of the NETC and USFA. I learned that teaching a heritage about your inaugural beginnings is a super important foundation to lay. I specifically liked that the place is very good at honoring the sacrifices of firefighters with maltese crosses. Our tour guide was very pleasant to listen to. She answered our questions about how Elizabeth Seton started a first parochial school in 1806. Our tour guide was nice. I wish she wore a name tag so I could remember her name. I think she had a red highlight in her hair. I thought the historical desgination probably causes the facility to be more costly to maintain. I did not think the tour guide should apologize for the crosses as the historical designation causes this facility to be stuck with whatever is permanently attached. I thought the solemnity of remembering the names of firefighters lost in the line of duty was worth a long drive. It was a wishful dream to imagine I would see a shock and awe fiery demo like some highlight or trailer on a live fire class segment. In any event it is nice to know there is a four year waiting list for that class. I think when I visited we saw a lot of cars parked in the parking lots. Not sure how many were students, staff or faculty. The Emergency Management Institute exercise room looks like a press room with real cameras, podiums, microphones and crews to make it feel like the real thing. If you have ever seen an emergency official fumble with the press or look flummoxed, this is where they need to go to practice answering some hardball questions. The library looks appointed with books stored in university style letters plus number system. There are at least 16 bookshelves and a computer search terminal. We did not see the dormitories or taste the cafeteria food so I would have to leave that to other reviewers to comment on that. The offices were among the largest and had the greatest ambience with respect to solid wood wall moldings compared to offices in DC. If there was an edition of Government Architectural Digest, this place would have some historical significance. Specifically, I thought the Deputy Administrator was very pleasant because he came out to greet us. He really knows how to roll out the red carpet for his guests. read more

Very amazing place to visit but the security guard at the gate laughed at me when I pulled up at the gate and asked if it was the right way to get the memorial. Then he asked to see my id, so I showed him one. He never said I needed to turn it in to him, and he wouldn't take my ID but only made me feel like I was an imbisile because I didn't know what was going on. A great place to visit, I just hope you have a better welcoming experience than I did. If there wasn't a car behind me, I would have turned around and left! read more
