I didn't know how to use the kiosk, but the really nice security guard helped me he showed me how to change my settings. And helped me scan the QR code. The process was fast and easy. I waited in the room. They called my number. I went up to the desk then they tell you to leave your phone number and they put you in a queue and you leave and they give you a phone call well they gave me a phone call within 30 minutes. I had already gotten home and resolved my issue. They've really stepped it up. It was a smooth transaction. And I didn't have to wait outside a long time either.

The staff person approached me to find out what I needed. I had the necessary info/documents, so she advised me to place the package in the drop box. She explained when the staff person(s) would pick up the drop box contents. Needless to say I was in and out of the place in about 5 minutes. I was so impressed with the personable customer service this staff person provided to me. About a few days later I received an approved document in the mail. Based on the date/time stamped on the envelope and documents, my package was worked on and completed the same day I dropped it off in person. Kudos to the staff person that worked on and completed it so quickly. The staff in this office are professional, personable and very efficient! But that agent never called me back and I was still unclear so I called and waited 2 hours again. When I spoke to Justin he was very clear and listened to my concerns. He was able to explain things clearly and I was able to understand what I need to do next. You definitely need more Justin's on your team cheerful, listens and gave me some hope after the 2 1/4 hr wait twice on 3/30/26.

The saga continues…read more After countless phone calls, letters, and even getting my Financial Planner involved, I had to finally make an in-person appointment at the Oakland FTB branch. At least getting an appointment wasn't (that) difficult. However, upon getting there, there seemed to be only two people actually working 2 of the 7 or so booths, with one of them merely being the one to check you in. That would explain why the first available time slot was two weeks out. Once there, the woman was helpful but happy to blame me for every frustration I had experienced over this entire year. Let's back up a second and list the number of blunders this department did from day one: First, I never got a single letter to pay my LLC tax until it was two years overdue and accruing late penalties. When I went to make my missed payments, they applied them to random years and not the ones that were currently amassing late fees, resulting in even more of them. Then when I made what I thought was my final payment, I must have pressed a wrong button because then that payment ended up being applied to a year I had already paid for. Instead of the clerk being able to fix this clerical error in real-time, I had to write a hand-written letter to move the overpaid balance to the years I actually still owed. Yes, I had to actually write with a pen and freaking paper because the FTB is apparently ran by people who probably still think the Pony Express is a viable way of delivering messages. When I asked why this was, the woman with absolutely no shame but with the utmost self-conviction and confidence, said it was because one needed to be a registered business and have a portal for getting assigned an agent with whom you could communicate via email. I've been an LLC since 2018; I have had a portal since then and I have NEVER been assigned an agent. Furthermore, I haven't been able to even access my portal because I have been locked out countless times. I thought maybe I had forgotten my password, so I called the helpline to get it fixed. After three calls in three different occasions, the person on the other end said that the "system was down". There were no alternatives. Just "sorry, hit the bricks and don't bother me about doing my job". When I tried to reset my password, it read that there was no email or username with those details. So then I tried to register. I bet you know where THIS is going: when trying to register, it said that there was already a user with that info. To top it off, I can't dissolve my LLC until next year when I file my 2026 taxes. This is YOUR government. You paid taxes to this parasitic, zero-accountability, knuckle- and heal-dragging department of feckless children. You are their boss - you pay their salary and for their supplies yet the only thing they can do is delay, blame, or defend their highly flawed, glacial slow systems and inept staff. Avoid doing anything with this department. But if you like being financially dominated, humiliated, and abused while navigating a Kafkaesque nightmare, have fun.
