Bathroom looks new and very clean. Overall impressions are that the place is modern and spotlessly clean. Linens were fresh and crisp. Breakfast is a buffet, hot and cold and is adequate to get you out on the go. I didn't try any of the other facilities and it's by the airport so not walking distance to anything that I know but I could be wrong. Recommended if you need a place for a night. I didn't check out the other hotel (Rok?). I would definitely be happy to stay here again if I had business in the area. Clean, well kept, and the people are friendly. Parking is free and plentiful. If you're able to drive on the left side of the road, it's only a few minutes drive into Exeter proper. Truth be told, I'm better off not driving on the 'wrong' side, so I took the bus most days. The front desk staff steered me wrong on the bus schedule and route numbers, but I have to admit the bus routes are a little confusing. I had to go on trial and error. On the plus side, the buses stop right across the street. This hotel has a bar with some light snacks and provides the typical free breakfast (which is very good!), surprisingly similar to the one you get at Holiday Inn Express hotels in the United States. The only restaurant within walking distance is the Barn Owl, but it is good food.

The rooms are not a bad size, although the double bed that I have is not really double sized, so they lied to me there. The people beneath us must have had their heating on the whole time as the floor was radiating heat and the weather didn't help that, luckily the room had a very large window that opened very wide, so we left that open all night. The shower was very small and the room had a sloped ceiling that I kept hitting my head on. I didn't make any complaints as I was only there a couple nights however if I were to stay again I would be sure to request a slightly larger room. If all the rooms were exactly the same size as the one I had, then the price paid for the hotel a little bit steep. However I think I just got unlucky with a room with a roof slope. Free Wi-fi access was provided which was great. Breakfast was excellent and the service was great. The décor was also very nice, it had quite a homely feel to it. I would stay here again in future, in a different room.

The room has two very large windows, so there was tons of light, and it is very well furnished and quiet. The bathroom, which is important to me, was clean and handsome. If you are visiting Killerton house, then there is a cottage in the village that is open to…read moreNational Trust. This is worht a visit if you are in the area. You have to park in the village car park and walk to the cottage. It will take about 10 mins to walk there and if it is a nice day then quite a nice walk. Unfortunatly it poured down and we had to run there! The cottage is fascinating, it has been restored to its orginal glory. They uncovered a wall panel dating back to the 16th century. You can walk around all the rooms and then view the garden. In the garden there is an unusual garden house that is worth seeing. Well worth it if you are in the area.

Yes, the room was a little warm and some of the other guests were a little loud (I think there was a school party in!) but what the hotel could control was really good. I agree that the hotel feels a little dated, but the duty manager showed us around the impressively refurbished (but at the time unopened) restaurant and informed us that the third floor was also being done up. The breakfast spread is pretty impressive and I found every member of the team professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
