I love me some DU! Found them on Instagram (@shopdressup) last year in "shops". It was a breeze to…read morepurchase these directly through Instagram and to select sizes and colours and to pay. I am not trendy. I am all about cute, comfortable, and classic clothes in beautiful colours, styles, great quality, and at a good price. I bought this dress in size small in four colours (olive green, pictured, royal blue, burgundy, and classic red). They all fit perfectly! They land at mid-thigh (front) on me at 5'7" and hang longer in the back to keep the rush appropriately covered no matter how ample the tushy. The material is soft and has a considerable amount of stretch to it. The sleeves fit tight from the shoulder to the wrist but not so much so that you cannot pull them up. There is A LOT of movement to this dress so I chose to wear short exercise shorts under it to keep from flashing the masses. Last week, DU had several items on sale so I purchased a few more similar tiered dresses in muted colours from them through their IG shop. They shipped THE SAME DAY! I got notifications through each step of my order. Their quality and price is still on point! So many dresses...so little time.

I don't know what was going on in here, but everything was way on sale. Mixed in with all the other…read morehigher end stores, this shop has just the same clothing as other boutiques along the strip here and the prices were slashed in half. I found a pair of snake print pleather leggings that fit and were only like 20$. The place was cute, loved the entrance of the shop and the backdrop by the register. The lady who started a fitting room for me was also great. They also offered a seating area for this hot guy.

My sisters' trip to Holly & Brooks was so memorable that word of it made it all the way from one…read morecoast to the other within hours... and not in a good way. First let me say that both of my sisters have exquisite taste. They are both well-traveled, well-groomed, polite and have money to spend. They both have had a very rough couple of months as of late and were looking forward to a little retail therapy. They would have spent some (or perhaps a generous amount) of that money last Monday, with any encouragement, but apparently the clerk in attendance had a bee in her bonnet and wanted to put the kibosh on that scenario. Perhaps the clerk has had a rough couple of months too, but if sales is your livelihood, snap out of it or stay home... that should not be the customers' problem. You are in retail and it's your job to be friendly and helpful. One sister had secured her dressing room and the second sister approached. The Clerk (I would refer to her as sales associate, but as I mentioned before, she clearly wasn't interested in sales or even making guests in the store feel comfortable or welcome) told the second sister she would have to wait, as the dressing rooms were occupied. The Clerk went away and the sister with the dressing room invited in the second sister. Both sisters were in the dressing room in various states of undress when the clerk threw open the curtain and said, "How's that fitting?" Here, I will insert a note to the extraordinarily rude and out-of-line clerk: NEVER disregard the privacy of potential customers. Whipping open the curtain is an emotional assault. It is customary in civilized circles (from Bergdorf Goodman right on down to Target) to approach the outside of the curtain, inquire cheerfully as to how things are going in there, and ask if there is anything needed in a different size, or can I get you anything else? THESE are the questions. And THIS is how it's done. From behind the curtain! But wait. There's more. So the second sister is trying on a dress that has a belt with it. The first sister thought it much more flattering on the second sister without the belt. An aside here: the first sister spent decades in the fashion industry in New York City. She knows what looks good. She knows how to style. She knows what style is. Apparently, The Clerk thought she did too. She grabbed the belt from the second sister and said, "NO! It goes like this!" She wrapped the obi type sash around my sister's waist and commanded, "Put your finger HERE!" What are we... six years old and having our first lesson in tying bows on Christmas presents? Again, RUDE and totally uncalled for! When people enter a store looking to brighten their day with a little shopping, the last thing they need is condescension and unfriendly treatment. Needless to say, my sisters both left this store with nothing but a very sour taste in their mouths courtesy of The Clerk. In the words of the Dalai Lama, "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." It also promotes the spending of money when you treat people nicely. Just sayin'.

I came to Exchange Factor three times this week and it was worth it. I ended up with two dope suit jackets. The service is top notch. Everyone is really kind and chill. Joan, the owner, is amazing. I spoke with Joan a couple of times and she took the time to describe what items she likes to buy from people. The atmosphere is fun with tons of good music playing. Saturday was real fun with lots of folks shopping, but even with several folks shopping people are chill. This isn't Goodwill and you aren't going to find boring pieces here. You'll pay a bit more but it's value buys that will lead to good looks. Charleston is very lucky to have Joan and Exchange Factor.

My friend found a fun shirt as well so then we went outside and were able to choose 6 items for free amongst the two of us. Honestly, the stuff outside is more picked over, but it's not junk. We picked up some really cool finds that made our haul that much better. I wish I had more time, but I got a punch card filled up so now I can come back and get a discount on my next purchase.
