Natty Adams suit at the opening ceremonies for the Brooklyn Book Festival

Natty Adams is a hoot-and-a-half, not to mention a knowledgeable designer and a good listener. I love my Natty suit--it's exactly what I asked for and hoped it would be, and I get compliments on it everywhere I go. My friends probably want me to shut up about Natty and his amazing eye and excellent style advice. I never, ever will. And yes, he does suits for women and queer folks.

Only the best businesses deserve five-star rating and this is one of them. Their service and product line are top-notch and the ambience is classy and sophisticated. I fly in several times a year to get my wardrobe updated by their experienced and knowledgeable staff. They are friendly enough that you should ask for a drink as you peruse the literally thousands of suit, shirt, and pants designs all made with the finest European linens. I have had many suits, jackets, shirts and now two custom pairs of shoes made. They are very comfortable and I was able to customize them how I like, with my own embroidered signature. They also pride themselves on providing a fantastic product for a reasonable price. I look like I dress in $5000 suits but my pockets don't feel it. The best part about this business is the professional yet personable service. Joe and Rye and Voshon are good people who care about their craft. There is nothing like the experience of custom tailoring. Every inch is measured precisely to give you the look you've always desired. Their expertise in what looks best is unparalleled. I trust their fashion sense and it has not failed me in any situation. In a town that prides itself on knowing the value of service, Luca Falcone makes me feel like royalty.

Our visit to Perlis (Uptown location) on April 10, 2026 left a really bad impression…read more My girlfriend and I, both locals, were shopping on Magazine Street for a dress for a summer wedding. We spotted one in the window that we loved, so we went upstairs to check it out. A clerk asked if we needed anything, and we happily said yes--we were looking for the dress in the window and just wanted to check the sizes and availability. Her response? "There are four dresses in the window," delivered in a pretty snarky tone, like we were clueless. It caught us off guard. We clarified that we meant the one with the floral pattern, and she immediately pointed us toward the sale section instead. At that point, I honestly wish we had just walked out. What made it worse was what happened next. While we kept browsing, two other women came upstairs, and the same clerk greeted them warmly and even offered them water. One said yes, and the clerk happily went to get it. The difference in how we were treated was hard to ignore. I've always liked Perlis and the quality of their clothing, so I'll still shop there--but only at the Covington location. I won't be returning to the Uptown store. Management should really address how customers are treated upstairs. Not everyone who can afford to shop there is going to walk in dressed up--some of us are in shorts, flip-flops, or workout clothes. That shouldn't affect the level of service. Pretty disappointing experience overall.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I went to the store to buy tights and jazz shoes for my daughter. When I walked in, I told the sales associate I was there to purchase both. She showed me the available shoe options. I mentioned I was looking for flesh-toned shoes and wasn't sure the colors they had would work. I then picked out a pair of tights and, after that, went back to the shoes and asked to try some on my daughter. The associate then asked if I was "just trying on or purchasing." Stunned, I replied, "trying on to see if I want to purchase." She then said there would be a $15 try-on fee for the jazz shoes, which would go toward the purchase if I decided to buy. I asked for clarification: "So, if I try the shoes on and don't like them, I have to pay $15?" She said she might not be explaining it correctly and called over the manager or owner. Instead of clarifying the policy like the associate asked her to, the owner repeatedly said she was "confused" about whether I was buying or trying on, referring back to my earlier comment about wanting a flesh tone. I explained that I wanted to try them on my daughter to decide if the available color worked, but she continued to say she was confused, without ever attempting to explain the try-on policy or addressing my question. At that point, I said, "Never mind, we're in the wrong place," and left with my children. I went there to make a purchase, as i have many times over the years, but the tone and attitude made me feel unwelcome and completely uncomfortable. We ended up purchasing the shoes and tights online for less money, but I went to this store specifically hoping to support a small business. Unfortunately, this experience made that impossible and I won't be returning. Lastly, if a try-on fee is the store's policy, it should be communicated clearly and professionally, especially when a customer has already expressed intent to buy.
