The Flagg Mineral Foundation sponsors the annual Flagg Gem and Mineral Show. This show is usually scheduled for the first weekend in January and is their largest fundraising event. The show, however, may occasionally move to the following weekend to avoid conflicts with New Year's Day celebrations. Its informal tailgate format offers a low cost venue for field collectors and local mineral/lapidary clubs to share their latest finds with children, teachers, rockhounds, and the general public. The Flag Mineral Foundation's goal of their yearly gem and mineral show is to increase the interest of children in rocks, minerals, geology, and science. She always finds the most interesting events to go to! It would be a lovely mild day outside on Sunday so I said sure let's check it out! Every year, typically at the beginning of January, the Flagg Mineral Foundation hosts this event that showcases multiple vendors showing and selling all sorts of common, uncommon, and rare minerals, gems, and stones. For those that collect crystals, there were a lot of them to choose from including many made of selenite. The variety was amazing and I enjoyed browsing and looking at all there was to offer. It's a very kid friendly event too as there are areas where you can dig your own fossils, pan for gold, and a lot of the vendors were very nice and gave out free stones to kids. Our kiddo now has a bonafide rock collection but in all honesty she was most enthused by the kind gentleman who let her choose a lollipop from his booth. As it was held outside there were also a lot of cute doggos walking around with their humans in tow. Parking is free but harder to find as it gets closer to afternoon so coming earlier is better. We came on the last day of the show and there were a lot of clearance sales going on. Note that some vendors don't take credit but there is an ATM near the front of the entrance. This is a smaller show my friend said, nowhere near the breadth and depth of the grand Tucson gem and mineral show but for us it was the perfect way to spend a nice Sunday morning walking around and learning about geology! Then they moved to the bigger space in the same mall and we gravitated there only to find they now have even more products than before. Every time we go there I find something to buy. We've been back a lot and never leave empty handed. We enjoy talking with the owners when they're there. Whenever I need something to use I go there to get my herbal needs, if they don't have it they can order it. The other staff are also super friendly and helpful as well. If you want a psychic reading the owner does that as well on a first come first serve basis. I had her do my reading and she is accurate. She took a look at the earrings and told me what options I had for converting them to a necklace. I went with a chain because it was easier and faster. She let me pick out whatever chain I wanted and triple checked to make sure I was comfortable with the length I chose, and then she made the earrings into two necklaces right there! I spent some time browsing afterwards and ended up coming home with a bracelet and some other beads that I'll just keep as trinkets. Highly recommend this place for anything you might need. I walked in, glanced around, and ended up selecting some new earrings to change out my inital ones with. Ty (sp?) helped me out. She had a special tool to remove the bell shaped backings from my initial piercing (which made me feel better that I couldn't get them out on my own). It was seamless and didn't hurt at all. I am usually NOT a person to give bad reviews, but my experience was awful. They pierced my conch…read moreand that one was okay. It has been painful for a while but that might just be normal. I do not remember the piercer I had, but she was not very friendly. All I know is she has glasses and brown hair. I went in a second time and I booked and asked for a mid helix and she gave me an upper lobe. And it has healed horribly. It's been months and right from when she did it I could tell it was crooked. I took it out recently to clean it and it immediately started bleeding everywhere. It took me fifteen minutes to get the earring back in because it was very painful and crooked and I could not find the other side. She also did not tell me I needed to come in for a downsize. I was new to piercings so I did not know you had to get a downsize in order for it to heal properly. Piercings are expensive and not only did I have a bad experience, a painful, slow, and incorrect healing process, but I ALSO did not even get the piercing I wanted. I don't think this should affect the entire business but I did not have a good experience with that piercer.

Not only does the bracelet have a yellow hue to it still ... but as you can see they didn't even fully rodium the safety chain. It's half white and half yellow now. Total absolute garbage work. When I told the girl it looked yellow her response was "well that happens sometimes". Excuse me? I've had this bracelet for years and never had such a shotty rodium done on it. I cannot believe these people charged me $240 for doing nothing! The bracelet literally looks worse now.
