On a Sunday morning, seemingly out of nowhere, I was struck with incredibly bad pain in my lower back to the point where I could not walk. I called in for a same-day appointment and the receptionists were able to easily fit me in their busy schedule. Now, after just 3 visits I am able to be almost 100% pain-free, and I have a plan for the next 4 months for intensive adjustments to hopefully not deal with this problem when I am older. The staff has always been upfront about costs and explaining the need for the number of visits involved in the treatment plan. I find some people on both google and yelp reviews complaining about the process when becoming a new patient, with X-rays and videos explaining skeletal health as well as the intensity of their treatment process. But what these things are doing is allowing the staff to know exactly what is causing problems and pain in my back as well as allowing us to create a long-term treatment plan. When I have been to other practices there seemed to be a lack of deep explanation and understanding that this office provides, and was a quick but unsustainable solution. For people and who are ready to commit to long-standing change for their spinal health, then this is the right place. read more

Cannot recommend this location. Appointments start out involved and range from 30-35min. Once you've gone for about one month, the level of car drops off a cliff. With insurance I was paying $40/adjustment and they might last 3-5min no exaggeration. After my three month Checkin where they rescan problem areas, literally nothing had changed and my initial concerns remained the same - might have even increased with intensity in certain areas. They give a great initial impression but quickly it slides into a nothing burger. read more

I've been going here for about 9 months now. I was suffering from headaches, sciatica, arm and hand discomfort. I have gone in with headaches and come out without and I rarely get them anymore! My hand/arm issues are virtually non-existent but the sciatica is still there but not as bad. I started my 95 y/o mom to go and they are the gentlest with her but she is so happy with the results she has had as well. Natural Way Chiropractic of Bellingham offers outstanding customer service and treatment. The two interns that i interacted with were friendly, professional and charming as is Dr. Covey. Their front office staff are friendly, engaging, and quite helpful. They got me a next day appointment, because i was in severe low back pain. My case is complicated by Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis, and my left leg is 1/4" shorter than my right. My low back muscles on the left are well developed and those on the right are less so. read more

The massages are pretty good, but usually they start very late because they wait until a previous person is done, getting dressed, etc. Etc before they change over the room. So usually you don't start until 12:00 or 14 minutes after the hour. And and eight or so minutes ahead of time. The other weird thing is quite often the office is closed and so you have to stand outside in the cold. Waiting for your massage therapist to come up and get you a couple minutes before your massage starts. read more

The doctors at Natural Way are excellent caregivers for spinal alignment. I've dealt with intermittent back pain for almost 20 years, and I finally feel like I'm getting the right help. The prices are fair, actually far less than I thought, and you have a choice of multiple plans for pain relief to full spinal correction. I would suggest doing the full program for the first three months if it fits in your budget, and then do monthly maintenance, so you don't lose what you paid for; it's better to fix the underlying problem than treating the symptoms. read more

Amazing staff, efficient check in process for my busy schedule, fantastic care. The first time I hobbled into the office I was nervous I would be in chronic pain forever. I had just come from a terrible experience at another chiropractor's office and was scared. The doctors took the time to build a care plan for me, and a few months later I am doing SO much better! It is a busy office, but if you have any questions, want to discuss things further etc. the doctors will take as much time as you require, all you have to do is speak up and they will listen with patient open ears. I came in on one of their specials knowing that I would present a challenge with my "manual laborer" back that's 53 years old. I'm currently in college to escape the labor pool in my later years and don't have much money. I was given a complete list of things that we want to accomplish, a superb exam, complete with x-rays for one section (this is the deal, no problem) and we discussed options based on my financial information and insurance. I left knowing exactly what I can do, where we are going and how we are going to get there along with information on their class on stretching and exercises I can do to help myself maintain my health going into my midlife and later. I waited two years to write this review. I never wanted to write it because I didn't have anything good to say. I went in there with a sore upper back. I was given an X ray which was followed up by a speech about how I needed to signup for a plan of x amount of adjustments for $1800 that would be reduced to $1000 if paid up front. that's all well and good but I was there for help with discomfort and not ready to commit to a long adjustment plan without a second opinion or more research and understanding of what that may do to my spine. I got an adjustment and left and that was fine. about a month later I went back in with a similar discomfort. I was mocked for having a "flare up" by the owner of the business after not having signed up for his adjustment plan. he then adjusted me in a seemingly strong fashion. later that day at dinner I developed sever pain in my upper back and neck. it was Thursday night and for the next two days I was unable to get out of bed due to severe pain and discomfort in my upper back and neck. I was worlds worse after the adjustment than before. I kept trying to reach this business by phone for help or advice and no one answered or was available because they are not open on the weekends. there was a third time that I went in with back pain due to an Mtb crash that I had. I had shoulder pain and back pain. I asked if they could X ray me and see if my back needed their help. the spine was lined up and looked normal. I looked at the picture and could see that my collarbone was shattered. the business owner looked at it and couldn't even see that the bone was broken as he shrugged it off and said maybe it was. this is the same guy that wanted to twist my back 60 times. I am scared of that because I was told that many adjustments can round over the spine bones that interlock, allowing your back to become dislocated easily. my spine is extremely important to my life and my income and I can't trust it to this business and I don't recommend anyone else to do so either. the major benefit to this place however is they do offer upper body X rays for a good price. I went to st Jo's for an upper back X ray and that cost me $2800. now at st joes their emergency room visits just get sent to collections as they are ridiculously overpriced. read more

Wow... (blink-blink, long stare)... Who knew chiropractic care would ever devolve into an awkward equivalent of used cars sales tactics. I'm been a huge advocated for the benefits of chiropractic care all my life but Natural Way Chiropractic is in a category all its own. It's a high pressure sales company on steroids. I think I'm smart enough know when I do and don't need chiropractic care service; I live in this body and it tells me, quite clearly, when an appointment is and isn't necessary. Natural Way Chiropractic seems to think, however, that they alone know my body and that their unending adjustment regiment, which goes on far beyond relief is really what's best for people. Absolutely, chiropractic care works wonders and I sent my mom to them while I was receiving care for a work related injury (covered by state L&I). While attending appointments I began seeing that Natural Way seemed to place far too much emphasis on closing the sale (in the way of endless appts, night classes education, ect.) and not enough attention simply providing pain relief. After my first appointment Natural Way never asked whether I was feeling full pain relief. Pretty sure they don't want to know that. Additionally, health care shouldn't reject a patients insurance (in this case, my moms which Premera [Really?]) and then expect that senior (who made it clear she's on a limited income) to pay out of pocket for endless appointments. Seems like a true "health care" provider accually CARES about a seniors financial limitations and doesn't continuously encourage them to attend bi-weekly appointments, that are not only far beyond her means but continue long after pain relief is achieved. Passive people (like my mom) are often taken advantage of by companies like this. They just don't feel confident to speak-up to a health care providers advice. I'm not that type; but as I said,, my mother sure is and she paid for appointments she didn't feel she needed far beyond feeling relieved of her pain. And in that way she absolutely was taken advantage of by Natural Way Chiropractic and when I found out why she hadn't been buying her usual grocery staples, I was LIVID and stepped in and put a stop to it. My advice? Stay clear Natural Way Chiropractic. End of. read more

I've been a customer here for years. I have chronic neck and back pain. I have had so much success here. I now function well and can do my job. I return every 3 to 4 weeks for a tune up and my massages always relieve my pain. They are 50 minute massages just like everyone else gives for insurance. Friendly staff and great facilities. I went to natural way chiropractic because of the sharp pain in my left thigh leg sometimes down to my left foot and when it does come you just want to stop and it the worst pain i felt in my life. I really appreciate how thorough their initial exam is and that they require that you watcha video and take an initial class where the give you a stretching routine. They gave me options when it came to my xrays at my initial exam (pay out of pocket for xrays by them and get adjusted in the next couple days or get xrays through my gp which my insurance would cover and give them to my chiropractor to look through before scheduling in the coming days or weeks.) They then went through my entire medical history, medications, and any concerns I may have. I was very nervous going to a chiropractor but they eased my worries immensely. There is one chiropractor there who is a touch too aggressive for me, but I am also a bit sensitive due to neuropathy and he seems like a very competent chiropractor otherwise. Dr. Angel is definitely my favorite chiropractor there. He is very efficient professional and gentle. He also really takes his time in making sure you're comfortable and I never feel rushed by him. The entire staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Including reception. They greet you by name here and remember details of your life you share with them, which is always a nice touch, making you feel like less of a number, which I'm sure they do very consciously. I like that about this business. They seem very intentional with everything they do. I would absolutely recommend this office over any other, based on my personal experience. read more

I've been a patient here for a number of years and was very satisfied. I had great care from the doctors. On January 19, 2021 I had a scheduled massage therapy appointment. I became aware that day that I may have been exposed to the Covid19 virus so I called to cancel. I didn't think they wanted to be potentially exposed the Covid19 virus as well. At that time the receptionist said I would have to pay a no show fee of $70. I said that is extremely high especially when my co pay is normally $30. I understand paying a no show fee for just deciding not to show up but we are in a pandemic. She said she would check with the doctor and get back to me. I received a call about 2 weeks later stating they would not waive the no show fee. She said there are too many people taking advantage of the virus. I have never missed a massage therapy appointment and this is how i am treated. Their policy is that even though you can't come into their office if you have been exposed, you have to pay a late fee. That does not make any sense. It surprises me they are willing to toss me aside as a patient for a $70 fee. There are plenty of other options out there for me to choose from. read more

64 years old, using chiropractic for 40+ years. For years, I used to go to get tuned up. Either from too much golf or something I did while skiing. Three years ago I broke my Sternum with my chin ( a skiing accident) and pulled seemly all the muscles from my lower back through my shoulders and beyond. My problem is I'm too stupid to slow down much as I should at my age. But I figure at my age, something is going to hurt all the time anyway. I'm writing this review as a long-time, on and off patient. First with chiropractic- which I did feel helped me a lot after back labor with my child. This is the reason for 2 stars. I was always annoyed with their pushy retention/marketing attempts and their ridiculous "class" you have to sit through to begin care. These things were just annoyances, but I recently had a couple bad experiences that mean I won't be back. First, I wasn't able to make a massage appointment and I let them know a couple hours ahead of time. I totally understood their policy ($25 charge if the appointment isn't canceled with more that 24 hours notice). I was hoping for a break the first time (I mean I'm pregnant with a toddler), but totally understood and paid the fee. After this, I had my scheduled massages. The massage therapists are totally competent and some are very good. I will say that occasionally my appointment was more like 40 minutes instead of an hour, but I'm really not a big complainer normally so I didn't say anything. Anyhow, I totally spaced my last appointment- my fault completely because they sent me an email reminder the day prior. I felt very bad and said I probably couldn't make it work, but would of course pay the $25 fee. Well, the fee is actually $65 the second time life gets in the way of a massage!!! I was shocked, I'm sure in some fine print this is stated, but you would think that after the first time I canceled they would say something like "hey, you've been coming here a long time and we value your business. Next time you miss an appointment we have to charge you $65." Nope- nothing like that. I work in sales and customer service and this kind of treatment would NEVER fly. It's just not the way you should treat people. I was asked if I could make it in for the last half of the appointment because then they could bill insurance and not have to charge me the $65. I guess I'd rather pay $65 and not have to deal with them again. Finally- and this is just a side note to the above- one of the massage therapists pretty rudely commented on my size (8 months pregnant). She was visibly shocked when I told her how far along I was and asked if I was having twins. I know she didn't mean any harm, but I would think in a professional setting she could've at least subdued her reaction slightly. She questioned if my belly would fit on the bed meant for pregnant women. I assured her it would. I hope in the future she won't make a pregnant woman feel like more of a whale than they already do. read more

I've been going here for a while now since my previous chiropractor was making me worse. They all know what they're doing considering I was in an accident 3 years ago and haven't managed to heal until now. My pain and ability to move has improved significantly. They're flexible if you're slightly early or late to chiropractor and they work well with my busy schedule. The ladies are always nice at the reception desk and Mia is a wonderful masseuse. The doctors here always ask how I'm doing and are genuine people. I'm very pleased with their work and how attentive they are with answering my questions. A lot of the reviews on here are negative because they charge fees if you cancel without 24 hour notice or don't show up but that's every practice you go to anywhere. I can tell you first hand that natural way genuinely cares about your health and wanting you to heal. I will continue to go here until I move. read more

I have never had a worse Dr's office experience in my life. My husband has been a patient here for about a year, and when our daughter took a fall and was in pain, I called this office the following day to get her some relief. We arrived 5 mins early for our appointment, but waited 45 mins before first seeing the Dr. We are seasoned chiro patients, and have a chiro in the family (who lives in another state). This office has a certain business model that they are basing everything they do upon, regardless if it makes sense or not. After waiting so long to see the Dr, my toddler who was with me was having melt downs. Regardless, the procedures were still followed...use high tech equipment to measure strain, yet do not measure her degrees of movement for mobility. Take 3 x-rays, even on a child. This will be used at her follow up appointment to show me the amount of subluxation in her next and spine, in order to sign her up for a lengthy treatment plan. Insist that this 12 year old watch a 7 minute video on the benefits of chiropractic (which she has seen before at our previous office prior to our move) while her toddler sister is screaming on the floor. After all of this...tell me that you don't do adjustments on the first visit until you can thoroughly go over the x rays and treatment plan with the patient on their NEXT visit. I was dumbfounded. I knew that this was something that this particular business model often employs, but when you have a child in PAIN and I had specifically called to ask if she could get and exam AND adjustment today, you don't turn around and tell me I need to sit through a sales pitch on a treatment plan before this child can see some relief. They eventually did get her in for an adjustment, and I was told that things "needed to get shuffled around in order to get this done". I was made to feel like an annoying inconvenience for insisting on the getting the relief for my daughter that I had initially called about, asked for, and expected to receive. Another issue is the front desk staff. Their new staff member is in the wrong industry. Her snide, curt comments absolutely ruined the entire experience for me. After the initial 45 min wait, I was annoyed. I was also frazzled by my temper tantrum throwing toddler, but still doing fine. My toddler needed her diaper changed, so I went into the bathroom, but did not see a changing table. I asked the 1st front desk staff (I believe I heard her say her name was Andrea) if there was a diaper changing station in the office. Without looking up, she simply stated "No". I waited a few seconds to see if she had another idea, then asked "Where would the best place to change her?". I didn't want to disturb anyone by changing her in an exam room. She finally looked at me, annoyed, and said "Ummm...the bathroom?" Let me get this straight...you want me to lay my baby down on a dirty bathroom floor to change her diaper? Luckily, the 2nd staff person overheard this and quickly lead me to an alternative room to change her. Toward the end of my daughter's appointment, I had had it. I was expressing my irritation at the length of the appointment (1hr 40 mins at this point and STILL going) to the 2nd staff member (the helpful one) and Andrea calls out from her computer "Well, this IS a Dr's office". Done. I'm done. I made a follow up appointment for my daughter, but will be calling the office in 10 minutes when it opens to cancel. I don't care if the Drs. there are amazing, or not. There are plenty of other competent chiropractors in this town. Don't waste your time being just a number in a factory. read more

Not only do they call and send postcards weekly to get you to come back in the office, your visits are over an hour long without seeing the doctor. They make you watch a video and I fell asleep waiting for someone to come back and get me for my appt. Please do not waste your time or money on this place. Go elsewhere. Nothing better than arriving 10 minutes early for your appointment, only to wait another 20 minutes for a 35 second adjustment! Never was I asked "How are you feeling? Any pain anywhere you'd like to tell me about?" Not once! And every adjustment I had was the exact same adjustment! Nothing was different to try and get me some pain relief! Oh and when I DID say I was still hurting, I'd get a dumbfounded look from the Doctor like "really?" Snooty front office workers as well! I'll gladly take my business elsewhere! I recently injured my neck and chose the office because they accepted my insurance and could get me in quickly. This place is definitely run as a money making venture and very little attention is given to patient care. The first day I went in I was told xrays were necessary and I was not even given an adjustment. The next time I came in I was forced to watch a video about what would be happening when the doctor finally did actually do something to help me. Upon seeing the doctor I was told I needed 24 visits (my insurance covers 20 but they will put you on a payment plan with discounts...). I explained that I have young children and have other necessities to pay for in life and he obliged. The only reason for the one star was I did get relief after my adjustment. I returned for a follow up and used my key card to check in, which I found rather silly, but forgot to use my key card again the the room. When the dr came in he was annoyed that I had not checked in again and made me get up off of the vibrating table to get the keys and hand them to him. I left feeling utterly dismayed at the doctors lack of care and stubborn nature. I was planning on not returning because I was feeling better but he told me we needed to do once monthly. He brought me to the front desk, told the receptionist what (he thought) I needed and left. I asked for my 180$ xrays and left. I have nothing good to say about this experience. I've been going to Dr. Hansen at Natural Way on State St. for several years now and he is really wonderful. I've got a chronic condition that will never be fixed, but the pain and flexibility can be managed with treatments and stretching. He does a great job monitoring my progress. He also treats me as an individual, with different treatment needs than most. Besides scoliosis, I have arthritis and fibromyalgia, and the pain requires personalized, special treatments. I have also NEVER had a problem changing my appointments at no charge and they are always courteous and helpful in the office. Yelp is an interesting place to review, because the majority of people who write something had a bad experience. When a business is great, most customers don't comment on it.... read more
