We brought our own kitchen utensils but found out when we got there that there were already some in there. It had plates, cups, knives, dish rack, cutting board, etc. The refrigerator was huge, was only expecting an alright size. I guess we didn't read the details on the website, not sure if these were listed there. But this cabin was too homey, I loved every moment we were there! We had a fire pit behind the cabin, but there was also a common fire pit by the playground and gazebo. Anyway, this will probably be a yearly tradition for my family to do so we can all get together. The Moose cabin had two bedrooms, one by the main entrance door (it had 2 twin beds) and the other one upstairs which was the master's bedroom. There was also a bunk bed upstairs, so it can sleep at least 6 people unless you bring your own sleeping bags for more people. The dining table can accommodate 5-6 people. There's 1 bathroom, no bathtub just a stand-up shower, toilet and sink.

The decor varies and I am sure there is a cabin that will suit you, several have gas fire places, and each cabin that I have stayed in has had a very comfy bed. There are full size refrigerators and a microwave too. There are BBQ grills there for easy grilling and picnic tables too. There is a State Park adjacent to the cabins that offers great fishing, hiking and exploring. I truly believe that this place is the Best place to stay in Southern Iowa. They offered us working guys a great rate when the other motels in that area wanted an arm and a leg for a basic room that doesn't come close to the cabins. If you are ever going to be in Southern Iowa, make your reservations early. This place fills up and for good reason. I hope to return next week and update this review with several pictures.

The building and room looks like it was retrofitted to be a hotel. The room was clean and tidy. At the restaurant I ordered the cobb salad and it took around 20 minutes, but it made sense once it arrived. Everything seemed freshly prepared from the avocado slices to the frshly seared chicken. I had also ordered a whiskey flight on the chalkboard menu. The team did not seem aware that it was offerred, but arranged it anyway. The flight is supposed to be 2 oz of four whiskeys thry give you the option to choose from. I think the whiskeys I got were at least 4 oz. No complaints, just surprised. For the most part the serving staff didn't speak English, so I'm guessing a lot got lost in translation. the bartenders were great and personable. our hotel room was nice. there is a definite need for more trash cans in the rooms. front desk staff was great. there was a broken elevator and I know other event goers were irritated as well as other guests. it took forever to get an elevator. if I'm staying on the upper floors, I don't want to have to take 8 or 9flights of steps. The food and the elevator were my biggest issues with our experience .

Then I wake up to a text several days later stating that Shady Brooks will not be giving me a refund.. Also when I paid for a month she added sales tax . Who does that at a campground because everyone I've been to the tax is already included. They are just scamming left and right at that campground! This is what she sent me: Hi Andrew, this is Dena with Shadybrook Camping. I just wanted to let you know that you will not be getting a refund due to our very strict cancellation policies, and the fact that your camper fit just fine in your site. Or we could have put you in a different site. Our policies are on our website, if you want to look at them. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks. We had a cozy one-night stay at this historic hotel. My husband and I stayed here on a Friday night…read moreas we were in town for a show at the Civic Center across the street. If you're wondering, I he Civic Center is a 3 minute walk away, and the Farmers Market is within walking distance, too. We checked in a little before 4pm with no problem. Check-in is normally at 4, but I requested an earlier arrival through the Marriott Bonvoy app. The lovely and stylish employee (Miya?) who checked us in gave us a quick run down on where things were located on the main floor and then we headed to elevator and to our room on the 7th floor. Upon entering the room it felt a little humid. Noticing the thermostat was on 72, I just turned it down a little. We weren't in the room long enough to notice any issues. Those came when we were going to bed. The room was cute and the perfect size for two people. I love the bedding and pillows and the lamps on the nightstands. There was a mini fridge, Keurig and overall I liked the decor. The nightstands were a little tired. The bathroom was the size of a closet - tiny. Our sink took at least 5 minutes to drain every time we used it. I didn't like how the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the bathroom. We moved the toilet paper to a more accessible spot. By the time we went to bed our room was warm and we couldn't turn down the thermostat below 65. Other reviews stated that the west side of the hotel has ongoing and known a/c issues and that was the side we were on. While the view was great (we could see the Civic Center and giant see saw art installation from our window), we slept horribly. I started to resent having paid $220 for a sweaty night sleep. In addition to the hot room, we could hear our neighbor cough, talk, etc. at different points. The walls are super thin. It could have been worse, for sure. We turned on our white noise machine. The 7th floor hallway did have some popcorn on the floor on Friday night. By the time we left on Saturday it was still there. Kind of surprised me given that housekeeping had to have seen it. I requested a 12pm check-out (also through the Marriott Bonvoy app), and at about 11:30am housekeeping came to the room, knocked, and let themselves in. He quickly apologized and said he hadn't gotten the message about our late check-out. No biggie, but it might have been awkward for others. Check-out is 11am, but the signage on the interior door of the bathroom says 12pm. See photo. I'm still giving The Savery 4/5 stars because I had a nice time and love vibe and history of the hotel. All staff we encountered were very friendly. Next time though, I'd request a room on the other side of the hotel, especially during the summer months when you want to run the a/c. Also, there is a parking garage across the street for $1/hour. We opted for the parking garage and somehow got out for free on Saturday without having to redeem our ticket. Not sure if the ramps are free on Saturdays, but they were this day. The hotel offers valet parking for $35. I recommend The Savery because of the location, overall vibe, amenities (they have a restaurant/bar for dinner, separate restaurant for breakfast, and offer Starbucks drinks in the mornings all for additional $$). This is not the cheapest hotel option, but we couldn't beat the convenience from the Civic Center. It's fairly close to the Iowa Event Center, too. Recommend. Just request a room that's on the east side of the building if you're staying during the summer and bring your white noise machine or earplugs.

I'd assume if you were a larger person wide it would also be a challenge because of the distance to the wall on the side was also very tight. Everything else was fine it's a hotel. It's a beer hall so if you're aware what a German Beer Hall/Garden is like it has those vibes with huge TVs. The ordering system is phenomenal. I love being able to scan a QR code at the table and order from my phone. Being a millennial the less human interaction I have to make the better. They'll just get your drinks right to your table but for the food, you would have to pick it up at the pick up counter. I really wish more establishments would adopt this process. The only reason why I'm knocking down stars is basically the food... I haven't been impressed with anything I have ordered and my friends also said the same thing. Everything just seems bland and require extra condiments or sauce. They offer good menu items but I just wish there was more care in implementing them. Most recent, I had a tenderloin that I was excited about and as traditional as we see in Iowa the tenderloin was massive but I had to just smother the entire thing with mustard to have any taste. I would probably just stick to appetizers when going there. Fries are usually a safe order and my friend thought the wings were okay.
