I was hesitant to go to this location because it's a bit of a drive out to the east end. It's where my urologist scheduled me because his office is in this hospital building. When first driving up to this place, it's intimidating. After seeing the way the hospital is laid out, you'll understand why they deserve 5 stars. Most hospitals are a maze of services. It's extremely easy to get lost. Could you possibly enter the maze and never return? Possibly. Not with this Baptist Health location. The layout is simple. There are 4 or 5 floors. Each floor has one hallway that terminates at each end. Each end has restrooms and/or elevators. One floor has a small cafeteria that comes in handy. Each floor is the exact same with different services. Do you need an x-ray? Go to this floor, walk down the hall until you find the x-ray sign. Do you need some other type of service? Go to this floor, walk down the hall until you find that service sign. Are you seeing a specialty doctor? Go to this floor, walk down the hall until you find their office. This hospital won me over with its simplicity. Now if only healthcare costs could be made this simple. It's one thing for you to get 350 different bills for 200 different services. It's entirely another thing to throw you in the whirl of a hospital with 20 entrances and 500 corners. At Baptist East part of the confusing healthcare world is eliminated.

The practitioner when I handed her the paperwork looked at me and very rudely asked "How are you disabled." I told her it was in my medical records. She tapped on her tablet and simply said, "We don't have your medical records. Sorry" I asked her how after coming to that office for over a year they no longer have my records. She just shrugged. So I left.

Or a place where they just want you to do therapy and you can't even get in with a doctor. With Dr. Gilley it's not like that at all. She does a lot of therapy and explained different options for medicines when so much I had been given before didn't work. She caught things that had been missed and it made all the difference. I am so grateful. I would recommend her to anyone.

It is always a big, stressful decision deciding where to send your loved ones when they need 24…read morehour care. Hillside is a modest and homey looking place from the outside. The inside needs updating, some color and something to make it look a bit more joyful, and I do believe they are slowly working on that with some updates. But most important is the level of care of your loved ones. I know that far outweighs any aesthetic issues. Both my parents have been there now for close to a month. I've had the luxury of visiting and observing daily while being here in Kentucky over this time before heading back to California. And I would say 90% of the faculty and nurses are excellent. There have been a few problems that have arisen, such as getting medication in a timely manner when urgently needed. But once these issues were brought to the attention of the right person It was handled immediately. During this month I've gotten to know many of the staff members that work here and care for the residents, and I've been impressed. I believe they truly care, are kind, and treat the residents like family. I have even seen the head of nursing there on a weekend hand feeding a resident who wasn't able to feed themselves. I was extremely impressed by that. It does seem at times that they may be a bit shorthanded, but overall the girls seem to step up to the plate to try to get things done. Also the rehab facility works with the residents on mobility, speech and strength to improve their overall daily function. And at anytime there's always someone you can talk to, for updates, general information or to find out how your loved one is hopefully improving. Also Valerie the head of nursing is available 24 hours a day so if there is a problem, it can be handled immediately. Something to ease your mind. So overall, one month into this time of having my parents at Hillside my mind is at somewhat ease. I hope this all continues when I unfortunately have to head back home to California. So I will update this as time goes on.
