We decided on a deluxe site with a concrete patio, a fire pit and a picnic table and it was $70 per night. They use camp spot so you will pay an additional five dollar fee for that registration. Others have mentioned they are pretty strict that if you arrive early will be charged $15 since they need to recover electric and water charges. They did not charge us this for our early arrival, so maybe somebody was having a good day. There is a camp store that looks like they have quite a few snack options when we arrived they were serving barbecue sandwiches from 1 to 5 as well as a bingo game. They also let us know for Father's Day weekend. They would have live music by the water feature from 6 to 8 and the band is actually pretty good tonight! The fire pit on our side is in a weird location and is kind of closer to our neighbors than us so we probably won't be using that There is a fantastic pool here as well as a bounce house and kids have been enjoying it all day We love that the sites are nice and wide so you are not directly on top of your neighbor, although if I had the option, I would probably ask for a site in the back farthest part of the park away from all the noise I would highly recommend one of the spots with a concrete pad as when it rains here it gets pretty muddy. We had a big storm last night and I am very happy we paid extra for the concrete.

Cosy Corners is a small, family owned campground, quite literally in the couples backyard! Barbara and Dave, the owners were fantastic and absolutely went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience with them. For example, I needed ice from the store and was given a ride in their golf cart. At one point it rained pretty heavily and as soon as it stopped, they came out to offer us all towels. the couple have a vast knowledge of the area and spent a good while talking with us about the things we could do 'off the beaten path'. Did I mention that this campground is at the entrance to Matthiessen State Park and only a mile south of Starved Rock!! Perfect placement. Also, you don't have to worry about the alcohol bans in the state parks if you stay here. The campsite was dog friendly provided the pups stay on leash. The only thing I could say that may put you off would be that there is no shower facility! This didn't bother us, we are experienced campers and had no issue showering under a hose. there are a couple of hoses around so you can access running water. Oh, anther thing! The cleanest camping porta johns I have ever used. They smelled clean and were also lit at night! OK, I could go on all day. I had a fantastic experience and every one of the 10 people in my group on the Saturday night swore they would return. The service provided by Barbara and Dave is second to none! I can't wait to go back!

They had Karaoke on Friday night and a band on Saturday in a barn on the property. We didn't go to either but since the barn is fairly enclosed it didn't bother us. This place is pretty quiet durning the day, like I said it's a super relaxed vibe, maybe because when we were there lots of spots were open. Management is great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are lots of seasonal's and plenty of nightly camping spots too. The RV spots are basically in a grassy field with some gravel, not perfectly level but not so bad that we had to pull out leveling blocks. Big nice trees everywhere. They have a nice playground and a great pond! It seems that they go to the effort to dump fresh sand on one side of the pond so that it's kind of like a beach and it makes to bottom of the pond sandy instead of muddy. There is also a big fountain in the pond that helps circulate the water and I suspect filter some of it. They don't have wifi but we didn't mind. We have been to so many RV parks that "offer" wifi but then you get there and it's so crapy that you feel a little cheated. I'd much rather know what I'm in for up front. AND we had great cell service (att) so we could do anything we wanted to. Happy camping!!

They popped up in my Google search for places near where we were. The owner was super helpful and was also mindful of making sure our last minute check in was contactless to maintain social distancing. The lake is closed right now due to Covid, but it looks lovely. The campground is clean and well maintained, plus every spot has a nice picnic table and a fire pit. We only needed a one night stop over, but it's now definitely on our list to come back to and spend more time there--especially once everything is able to open back up again. Our 8 year old was sad we had to leave! Thank you for a pleasant stay and a wonderful experience!

We stopped on our way x country and got a great night of sleep , hot shower & loved the views of America's heart land . Went into town & ate at Red's bar & grill which was awesome! The town was so quaint with pizza shop, coffee shop & market & giftshop . Again , just so down to earth. A man met us at the gate and showed us to our site telling us that they were building a pool for next year. Their daughter in law answered the phone when we called from hours away and was so kind & helpful. They were just starting to decorate for Halloween and doing a amazingly creative job . I love Halloween so I throughly enjoyed it. We already said that we will make this a stopping point each way every year and spend a extra day or 2 here.

My husband and I met David G. At the camping show in Rosemont Illinois. He seemed nice enough to my husband and I even though he made derogatory remarks about Four Star Campground. We decided not to check out Four Star because of the remarks he made. He said the campground housed all types of campers "he said transients" year round. He also said yeah go check them out then come by us. So I tried to book an appointment with David G. for the same day because my husband had a rare day off. David G. wasn't available so I tried to make an appointment for myself to come see the campground. He said, welllll, why not talk to your husband when he can make it. I said, he can't make it any other day because he works 7 days a week. He then said, welllll why not talk to your husband and when he can make it we will book the appointment. So I said you are basically saying you won't tour me until my husband is present. He said no but your husband will be involved in the decision so he needs to be present. I assured him I was capable of making a decision without him. But he kept saying talk to you husband. What's the matter with this guy? Is he living in the 1930's where a female can't make a decision? I have never been so insulted. He made me feel because I was a female i couldn't make this decision. David females (spouses) this day and age can make decisions, sign contracts and put deposits down without their husbands being present. Shame on you for trying to make me feel inferior. I don't recommend this campground to anyone. I also recommend David Goldman Goes on the internet to the EEOC site to refresh his memory on gender discrimination.

The boardwalk is a lot older and more worn now, but it's still nice to stop, and there's a vantage point to look out on the river. I used to see beaver activity around the boardwalk, but not recently. The marina also of course offers a place to launch your boat for a fee, boat storage, RV storage and they do offer camping. I believe the three shed/cabins added several years ago are available for rent as well. When we drove through on our most recent visit, they'd added some beach camp sites with power. There's a playground, fire pits for the campsites and picnic tables.

It was 15$ a night, there's a fire ring, tables, and very clean bathrooms/showers. If you have a primitive spot and you can't find a spot #, you can just set up in an open spot on the beach. It's a 2 min drive to a gas station/liquor store and 10 mins away from walmart. Such a cool campground!
