I called, put on hold for a long time, then a young man answered, I gave him what the doctor ordered then got hung up on. Now I called again and I am on hold. The woman was so nice. She apologized and said the young man should have called me back. This call center is scheduling appts for a multitude of YNNH facilities. The nearest opening for me is in New Haven. Learn something new every day.

Review of Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center…read more My experience with Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I was scheduled for eye surgery this morning, arrived on time, and was blindsided by being told my surgery was cancelled. The reason they gave was that I hadn't taken my medications correctly. This is not true. Weeks before my surgery, I went through the required pre-operative physical. During that appointment, I was given a strict list of what medications to take the day before surgery and the day of surgery. I followed those directions exactly as instructed. To make matters worse, the information given to me verbally, the printed list I was sent home with, and the instructions I was told on the morning of surgery all conflicted with one another. On the day of my surgery, they suddenly told me I should have stopped one of my medications two days earlier and that proceeding could be "very dangerous." If that's true, it should have been crystal clear from the very beginning. Patients should never be left guessing between three different sets of instructions. This was not just an inconvenience--it was a major disruption to my life. In preparation for surgery, I followed every instruction: I fasted and I made the 40-minute drive to the center. After checking in and going through the stress of preparing for surgery, I was told only at that point that my procedure was cancelled. I then had to turn around and drive another 40 minutes home. To be treated this way, after taking every precaution and doing everything I was told, is both disrespectful and irresponsible. Patients deserve so much better. We deserve: Clear, consistent medical guidance that does not change depending on who we speak to or when we arrive. Reliable and professional organization, so that dangerous mistakes and last-minute cancellations do not happen. Respect for our time, health, and effort. Patients make sacrifices--fasting, arranging transportation, and mentally preparing for surgery. To have all of that dismissed due to disorganization is unacceptable. A basic level of accountability. Confirming appointments and ensuring instructions align should be their job--not something patients have to chase or piece together on their own. This facility's disorganization caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and put me at risk. If this is how they handle something as critical as surgery preparation, it raises serious questions about how they manage patient care overall. I hope they address these issues for future patients.

They were beyond compassionate, gentle & put me at ease from the moment I walked in the door. Note: I suffer from anxiety & panic attacks but didn't have any episodes during my visit. In my experience, it was 1000% true that the prep was so much harder than the actual exam.

I found…read morethe staff at the Diagnostic Radiology to be extremely friendly and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The check in woman was really nice and the woman who actually performed the MRI was very nice and friendly. She explained exactly what I was going to experience. The staff calmed my nerves and made a very stressful situation a calming experience. I highly recommend this facility.

I went for my annual mammogram today. It was actually a great experience. I was taken in within…read moreminutes of my appointment time. The technician who administered the exam was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised and totally impressed by the robe I was given to wear! Certainly not the typical paper or thin dressing gown I expected. It was a soft, comfortable, cozy robe that I would expect at a spa, not a medical facility! Simple upgrades like a plush robe make the visit much more pleasant. I think I need one for home!

They all have time to talk to you to reassure you your comfort and understanding of the results of testing are explained thoroughly.
