I really enjoyed Thai place! They had my favorite wines out of all the places I stopped in. Plus, the wine tastings are cheap and offer a large enough variety to get a feel for what you like. Bob was my bartender and he was the best! He was so friendly and helpful and gave so many great recommendations based on the wines I liked. I think because there were some I didn't like at all, I'm pretty sure he "subbed" in some others too. They seem to have a huge selection of wines for every taste. They make it nice for families too, with ice cream tastings for $2! My hubby got some beer and they hung out on the patio while I tasted. If you like wine, this is a must stop! read more

So I would like to say that I didn't plan my South Dakota trip from Illinois around visiting Naked Winery but that wouldn't be true. We came here twice- unfortunately the first time they were closed and I just HAD to come so we came back and it was worth it! I've had Naked Winery before and have been obsessed with their wine. Finally I had a chance to visit on our South Dakota vacation!! We visited with my daughter (which she has plenty to do with their board games and adorable lounge area). I'm updating a review I did last year. We visited this weekend and the service has gone up. There was a new lady doing the wine & beer tastings who was very nice and helpful. We actually wound up doing a beer flight in addition to our wine tasting. The brewery/winery wasn't as busy this weekend as last year and one section was closed both days we visited. We spoke briefly with the lady who was our source of frustration last year & she was very polite & cordial. In addition, we were not required to show our wine membership card, even though I was prepared if it was an issue. We had previously arranged with the manager to pick up our wine shipments. Although the girls couldn't find the box when we first stopped by, they were able to locate it by the time we came back. Overall, we were very impressed with the service this year and genuinely look forward to going back. read more

Having been to many wineries we enjoyed the kitschy theme and vibe that brings tasting wine down to Earth. They do not make the wine in SD but in Oregon and also have wines from some other places. The wine is OK. Mostly on the sweeter side. Great customer service and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The brewery on the other hand just N of Hill City was awkward. Walking in is like going outside after being in the dark for too long. Disorienting with too much to look at unsure where to go. While we were there it felt like we were interrupting a party or event. There was a decent variety of beer and we enjoyed most of what we tasted but the fruity beers tasted a little like medicine. 5 large pours for $7 was a good value even when one or two are undrinkable. We also had a huge pretzel that was hard as a rock and not a great value at $13. Service was friendly enough. read more

What a gem! We walked in not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. I was unsure of what to order, so I tried the tasting. For $6 you get to try 6 wines. Nagy did an incredible job of picking wines that I would like. I ended up buying 3 bottles, one to have with the pizza and wings my husband and I ordered, and two for later. So it cost 5 dollars a person to taste about 5-6 wines. You don't have to pay for the tasting if you buy a bottle of wine which is around 20+ dollars. So off the bat I was a little surprise because I am used to the first tasting being free such as Prairie Berry Winery where we went the day before. My boyfriend thought they were a little pushy about getting you to buy more than one bottle. Overall, the wine had cool, funny names such as Kitchen Sink and the place had a nice vibe (even the bathroom is decorated to match their vibe-check it out lol) but I wasn't in love (got to have it and won't leave without it) with any of their wines (my favorite was the Strawberry Rhubarb Wine which is a very sweet wine). read more

We really wanted to like the wine here. We enjoyed the theme and had some laughs, but the wine really wasn't that great. Now, we did come in the off season - and we were here early in the day, first customers and all, I noticed the server was pouring from previously open bottles (like from yesterday). I don't know if that made a difference or not, but we really wanted to buy some of the naughty named wines to take home to drink, but we ended up without taking any. Another weird thing.... Was on my way to Rushmore and saw that two breweries were close by. I stopped by here and was very impressed with the beer. The name of the brewery was Sick-n-Twisted but apparently falls under Naked Winery. The two tasting rooms are set up like traditional wine tasting, but they absolutely serve some great beer as well. I didn't try the wine, so this review is not reflective of their wine...just the beer. They offer pretzels with beer tastings and do offer flights, which I partook of. They also bottle their beer, but not all of it. When I visited (Dec 2014) they only had two or three of their beers available in bottles. Again, the beer was top notch. Definitely go here if you're in Hill City. read more

Never got to the tasting. Service so terrible we walked out. We stood for 10 minutes editing for someone to even say : can I help you. Then he walked away and never came back .. Too interested in helping the ladies who had his "attention" take some attention. One section was closed. And the other sections were packed. No one cares if they provide service. Save your time and DON'T stop here. By the way they have 2 locations. This was the one north of town. Can't say how the one in town is , but I'd guess the same. Thanks for your thoughtful response. We waited over 10 minutes and were never helped, they only had 5 customers and at least 2 employees working. When we walked up to the first counter the gentleman pointed us toward the other room and said the lady would help us there. We walked to that counter, waited 5 minutes but no one came. Walked back to the other counter, watched the gentleman help a new couple and informed him no one was available. He said, "no, she will help you, she will be right there." We walked back, waited another 5 minutes before giving up and leaving. Obviously they didn't want our business. If they can't handle 5 customers I can't image how they manage a busy day! Visited Naughti Wines aka Sick & Twisted for the first time today. I wanted to do a white wine tasting and my husband wanted to try the Cabernet.. There were no paper listings for the tasting as is common in most wineries. The woman at the bar said she had all the wines in her head and that only certain ones were available for tasting. I was hoping to do a tasting that would include the Cabernet but that didn't seem to be possible. She said I could do a semi-sweet white tasting of 6 wines. I didn't want to do that so I ordered a glass of their Riesling which was good and my husband ordered a glass of Cabernet which he said was ok. Then we were going to order some food for a light supper. The charcuterie plate was $29.95 and she made it sound like it was huge and too much for a light supper. We ordered it anyway and when it came, it was a medium size charcuterie plate and we were both hungry when it was finished. Through our whole experience there, she was pretty cold and condescending. I have been to many wineries, including some of the top ones in Napa Valley, and have never, ever been treated like this. The 2 stars are for the wine--service gets a zero. read more

We had a blast at Naked Winery. We were the only folks in the establishment so received full attention by the staff. We enjoyed the wines and fun atmosphere. The downside was we tipped very very generously, ordered a few cases of wine and the whole order got messed up. While the name should have given us a clue, we were caught off guard to the salacious theatricality of the establishment. All of the wines have a sexual reference to them, which was fine, but the sommelier was coming in strong with the sex jokes and foreplay references. While I found them comical, she should have read here audience better and stuck with the wine descriptions for my particular group. They have merchandise as well, though it is cheaply and poorly designed. Something about wearing a shirt with "penetration" in a font found on Microsoft Word just wasn't that appealing to me. None of the wines stood out for me, but it may be worth going once for the experience. This would make a great stop for a bachelorette party. read more

I bought two bottles of wine, but experienced a bit of sticker shock -- $42 for one bottle, and $28 for the other. Seemed a bit steep, but I rolled with it. This place is tons of fun! Tyler, the self desribed "wine geek" who assisted us with our tasting, made the experience enjoyable. He used tons of "sexual innuendo" (innocent of course), and had us laughing through each sip of wine. He explained that the winery is called Naked because they only use the grape to distinguish the wine...no extras like sugar, preservatives, etc. Each wine was unique in its own. I was seriously underwhelmed by this place. I'm somewhat of a beer snob (in a way that I know what I like and prefer the complex flavors found in beer from microbreweries). My friend enjoys craft beer but drinks and appreciates everything on the spectrum from PBR to swanky craft stuff. Neither of us liked this beer. I had three beers that smelled different but tasted remarkably similar. Yet not in a good way. The beer flight was also not filled evenly and half was foam when she handed it to us. $8 for 5 variable samples. The photo ad in the travel magazine showed a pizza and said "kitchens open daily". When I asked about food she said they had someone in the back grilling burgers for $10 a piece. Only option. Bathroom consists of 4 port-a-potties. This place was awesome! The sexy theme threw me off at first but once Jess started helping us it was instantly funny. Her and Amy were hilarious and made the wine tasting entertaining. Their prices were reasonable at $3 for 6 tastes and deals for $4 glasses. My boyfriend and I shared a bottle which was also reasonable and delicious. Their oh! Orgasmic Tempranillo blend was one of the best wines I've ever had. It had 5 or 6 different wines mixed together and the flavor was complex but delicious. We also tried some of their house beer (sick-n-twisted). My friend went for their stongest IPA which was incredibly balanced. The hoppy flavor was more sweet than aggressive and you would never guess the alcohol percentage was that high. Overall, it's a great place to have fun and drink good wine and good beer. Ok, I first want to start with the owners were very very nice. My only problem is I bought a wine that was on their list called "Pumpin Ethyl" for $18+ which I thought was an actual wine, not just something they renamed. Turns out "Pumpin Ethyl" is just a semi-sweet red table wine made by Leelanau Cellars, called Great Lakes Red, made in northern Michigan and sells for $6.99. The bottle doesnt even say Pumpin Ethyl on it... Oh boy, do I feel scammed. Along with the 6 bottles I purchased @ $18+(worth $6.99) a piece of "Pumpin Ethyl"(really Great Lakes Red) I purchased a few bottles of their cranberry wine as well for $16+, which is made by the same michigan winery and also sells for $6.99. So please take my advice and take your phone out and do a little research before spending $200+ on a few bottles of wine, when you could have gone to your local grocery store and spent maybe $75. read more

The Naked Winery is always a stop for me whenever I'm going through Hill City. They have a good selection of tasty wines, and most appealing for me is the fact that they also have a microbrewery on site (called Sick n' Twisted) that offers a range of beers made on site. The brewery is still getting the hang of things and I am confident that they will only get better. I guess that's a polite way to say I've had better beers, but I've spoken with the brewer & the brewer's assistant, and they are open to critique and their enthusiasm should get them to where they need to be. At the time i write this, they've only been doing in-house brewing for less than a year, so i completely understand the growing pains thing. This place is definitely worth checking out, and when you consider that they also have a large selection of craft beers for sale, you're pretty much guaranteed to find something you like. Oh, and the wine is pretty good, too. :) I describe the decor and ambiance to my friends as being an ideal place for bachelorette parties. When you call a place "Naked Winery", you can be assured that a certain level of risqué innuendo is to be expected. That being said, the "smut level" is really only around a cheeky, PG-13 "wink-wink-nudge-nudge know what I mean" level. I mean, it's not like there are dongs on the wall or anything like that; it's not a porn shop for crying out loud. All in all, it's a pretty cool place to hang out and beat the heat, and they have live music on the weekends, and that's a pretty cool thing. They definitely catered to my taste and added chocolate to make the tasting enjoyable and unique. I was even able to try their seasonal wine for the fall. Wow, can you say fun. Rob, Kim and staff have a great time with the wine tastings. The tastings were no charge if we bought product and that definately was not a problem. The decor of the building very inviting. After sampling Prairie Berry winery and being dissapointed, we hesitantly chose Naked winery, but after being warmly welcomed, were very glad we took the chance. Wines are good and named with a fun novelty adult theme, but definatly great taste. I am happy to say I got naked in South Dakota, definately a stop for a great experience. This review is set in a time long ago (Summer 2016, Sturgis, and so on...) My buddy and I were hiking up in Custer State Park, and as our per usual ritual sought out a brewery adventure after. Low and behold we ended up here at Naked, and we found out later that out of the many this was our least favorite adventure of them all. But onward to what matters. We were hungry and thirsty for what mattered and this begins our time at Naked. We were greeted, promptly perused the menu, and then placed an order for a what we considered a reasonably priced flight. Out of the many beers that we sipped on that afternoon there was one that was decent, and it wasn't in my opinion worth a future stop. Food, Burgers in particular were what we were told was all they had on that day. A cheese burger with sautéed onions, not bad right? Too bad that ours arrived without any of the accoutrements... and the worst part was that after we placed the order and settled at the bar we were informed that the full menu was available..... Communication with your staff is ideal and should be the mark of a business. Previously brief your people so everyone is on the same page. I don't leave harsh reviews often. I always look for something positive, but I can't honestly say that there is anything I enjoyed about Naked. They did not impress. It seems that maybe they stay afloat because of the name and the tourist season. Who knows, but I'll end by telling you that the beer and lone burger weren't worth it.
