My experience is instructive: I had been a good customer for six years, but because of a confluence of events, PayPal pulled money out of my account right before three checks came in to clear. That was right before a holiday, and Citizens was closing early even though the day before the holiday was not a holiday in itself (they shouldn't have done that). As a consequence, I couldn't get money into the bank to cover the checks. The checks then came in to clear in the order of smallest to largest, and I should have been charged one $39 overdraft fee; but Citizens re-ordered the withdrawals from largest to smallest so that I was charged three fees. This is what I mean by "trickery". Only the greediest banks use tricks like that to raise money from their customers. If you are looking for a bank, you would be better off at a savings bank or credit union.

They have kept my deposits, and refused to give any of the bonuses, stating 'they don't meet our specific criteria'....gee, and what about their own bank employee screwing up? 'That's too bad... Close my accounts, and walk away...lesson learned. Ouch. Hope this helps someone.

She was so patient, kind, and really took the time to help me--which, honestly, isn't always the experience I've had with Citizens Bank. I've been putting off dealing with some banking issues for way too long because, in the recent past, I haven't always gotten the help I needed. One of the biggest problems was a debit card issue that had actually left me without access to my own money at times while I've been traveling for work. I had tried to get it resolved before at another branch inside Stop & Shop, but they were zero help. Lexi, on the other hand, not only listened but actually figured everything out and got it done! Even when something wasn't straightforward with my banking app, she found a way to get me the contact I needed. If you need real help, go see Lexi if you can! Because they would not provide quarters to me without being a customer, I opened a saving account…read more I receive a significantly higher interest rate through a Fidelity savings account, so I just left a few hundred dollars in the Navigant Credit Union savings account. I had considered transferring my checking over, but glad I did not. Since I only received a savings statement every three months, I was charged $15.00 for an inactive account. That was $5.00 each month. When I called, not only did it take me almost 15 minutes to speak with someone, but they were rude and unwilling to help. So I went to online chat. I asked them the same things I asked when I called. Will you reverse the charges, i'll make a deposit and stay as a customer. Otherwise I will withdraw my funds and cancel the account. Neither were willing to help. They both chastised me and said that it's listed in the new account documentation when you sign up. This is a document that is many many pages long. No notification saying "you're account has been inactive, please make a deposit......". So they are making interest off the money just sitting there, and now charging me money, which is now at $25.00 since the statement was 2 months prior. Most banks or credit card companies are willing to work with you - but all I got was chastised and told there was nothing they could do. Stay away - far away.

I've been a customer at Coastal 1 Credit Union on Warren Ave in East Providence for a few years…read morenow, and while I only use them to pay my car loan, every interaction I've had has been nothing short of excellent. Jacob in particular has been incredibly helpful and kind. The whole team is friendly and welcoming.. They usually remember me when I come in, which gives the place a really personal, community feel. A couple of years ago while I was traveling, a payment issue came up and I was worried it would become a problem. Kerri & the customer service team team resolved everything quickly over email with no hassle at all. It was such a relief, and honestly, that level of customer service is rare these days. I truly appreciate how easy and stress-free they make everything, especially that time I was on vacation and they actually reduced my stress. :) Highly recommend!

I have recieved my neighbors banking info in the mail for 5 months now, I have called the credit…read moreunion, put returned to sender with address correction twice, drove the banking info and handed to my neighbor twice, neighbor has called the bank and has also gone in person to correct the address problem. Guess what I got another statement for my neighbor again today! If I wasn't an honest person I could open the mail and used his acct #. Neighbor should sue them.
