My MRI findings were not meaningfully discussed, and my symptoms were minimized. I did not feel thoroughly evaluated or heard. Patients seeking a detailed spine assessment may want to consider a provider who takes the time to perform a complete exam and review imaging carefully.

After driving an hour and 10 minutes to my appointment I was informed that I owed over $300 that my insurance didn't cover for bills from last year. I was told I had to make a payment toward that. I only had an additional $30 at the time and was told that unless I paid a minimum of $50 extra I could not see the dr. The lady at the desk was completely rude not caring how far I drove just to get there. No one called to tell me I had this bill nor had I ever received a bill saying I owed this money. I again told her several times I could only pay and extra $30 and she still refused to let me see the Dr and would not take my money. I would have NEVER been treated this way by the office in Channelview where I normally go. The Channelview office was not able to see me because the dr is on maternity leave which is why I went all the way to Kingwood. I do not recommend anyone using this place. I have never been so disrespected. Since this occurred yesterday I have attempted to contact the billing office 4 different times and was on hold more than 10 minutes each time even though it said I was at position 1 in the que to talk to someone. I would hope people using this office attempt to go elsewhere for treatment so they are not treated as poorly and inconsiderate as I was. Even the other girls at the front desk did not try to step in and assist me nor did the lady I spoke to bother to talk to the Dr to see if something could be done. If you will check the reviews for this place you will see that others have also had this same experience. I hope that the Dr's see this review and do something about the way the patients are treated by the staff. If your patients owe money or are required to pay an additional amount then we should be notified before coming in so that arrangements can be made. My regular Dr will hear about this when she comes back to work.

(Writing this on behalf of my grandmother who can't figure Yelp out - dictated word for word)…read more On February 19, 2020 Dr. Barkoh performed spinal surgery on C-4 5 6 for advanced myelopathy. It would be hard to relate how satisfied I was with his expertise in handling of a very difficult situation. I had lost the use of my right arm completely and some loss in all three other limbs. To make a long story short, following surgery, I had my right arm use back 90%. I would recommend Dr. Barkoh to anyone with spinal problems. He was very professional and kind and I could not have asked for a better surgeon.

He also without my consent gave me 3 Laminectomies which resulted in 3 surgeries in 3 weeks. Dr. Barkoh needs to go back to medical school! He used me as a test dummy and really didn't know what to do in the situation. When he scratches his chin he starts to "tap dance!" After the 2 months of heavy IV antibiotics he told me "all I had to do was heal!" There was no way I could heal with a severely collapsed disc at the L5, S1 position! As a retired U.S. Army Veteran I will ensure I exhaust every avenue to get him legally! That man cannot just be messing people up and throwing them away like that! He needs to wash back to training and get some guidance! This Dr messed up my life worse than what I initially went in for! I will write the U.S. President, The medical review committee, the Veterans Administration to get the justice I deserve. Wes

I heard good things about him, but when I went in I was gaslit. AGAIN. I have yet to find a male…read moredoctor who doesn't diminish my pain, or invalidate me. He said the multiple herniations in my neck were "Something everyone over 30 has. It's normal." Really? The doctor who ordered the MRI told me she felt like I needed to see a surgeon at this point because it's been 15 years of pain, and my problems are getting worse every year. I have tried everything. Literally everything to help my pain. I have spent so much money in pain management. All they did for me today was give me pain pills which I didn't want at all bc I can't even take them at work. I want it fixed. Not a bandaid. He said my extreme pain was "Headaches." Really? I know my own body and this isn't a headache or even a migraine. I wasted $100 and time off my job to be pushed off to another doctor. Yet again. I have been doing this dance from spinal to neuro, to spinal to neuro. I felt 0 sympathy or validation, like I was just another $. The only people who were nice to me were his PA, and the assistants. They were kind and actually listened. They validated my concerns. He referred me to neurology. When I asked him what they could do, he shrugged and said "I don't know, I'm not a neurologist." Don't waste your time or money.

I have been to several doctors (three) over the years to have this issue resolved. In general, all of the doctors said that this problem could not be permanently fixed, but they could help me manage my pain. I will never know if I was responsible for not getting the care I needed because I chose doctors with the wrong medical specialties, nevertheless less I decided to take a different approach. I called Dr Mark Prasarn an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. After Speaking with Dr. Prasarn, I left his office feeling inspired. Nothing was fixed yet, but I was filled with hope. Dr. Prasarn said the cause of my back pain was Spondilolithesis. He also said that it wasn't as bad as some others that he has seen in the past and that the surgery could fix my problem. I really appreciate the fact that he spent a considerable amount of time with me that day. Dr. Prasarn has a very methodical approach regarding care. He first recommended that I try physical therapy, if there was little to no change in my pain level we would then move on to pain management. If the pain level persists, we would try surgery. It is good game plan for him to start with the least invasive strategies until he could provide a decision that matched my personal needs. I did eventually have surgery. After just two weeks from the day of my surgery the pain was completely gone. I waited four months to write this review because I wanted to see if there would be any recurring issues concerning my back pain. I am happy to report that I feel great!! I have not experienced any pain (nothing!). For me this surgery has been life changing. I can't tell you all the special accommodations that were made for me just to take a walk. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Prasarn a very good doctor and really a very nice person. He has the credentials and it is very obvious that he has a strong desire for helping people. For me, he was just the right person at the right time. I highly recommend Dr. Prasarn if you are experiencing any back pain that requires professional help
