This might be by far the best Navy Lodge in the continental United States! This Navy Lodge is located inside Mayport Naval Base near Jacksonville, FL. The hotel is in high demand, so I highly recommend booking well in advance. The rooms are very basic but some of them do include a small kitchen area. There is also a pool connected to the hotel but it is only open during the summer season, so please keep that in mind. In the mornings they also offer a complimentary continental breakfast until 9am. However the best thing about this Navy Lodge is that all rooms face east, offering an amazing sunrise view from your hotel room every morning. The beach is just a few steps away from their garden which is very convenient. The beach itself is really clean and has many seashells. However, do keep in mind that there are no trash cans on the beach so I would recommend bringing a trash bag with you. read more

First time staying here, but have a couple other locations to compare it to. We were able to check in about an hour early and even upgraded our room, since they had the availability. Besides the excellent staff, the water was foul tasting, the A/C had a hard time cooling the room, there were bugs in bathroom sink, the balcony door was filthy and the wi-fi would not stay connected. read more

Stayed here very recently, one morning, while sitting in the front lounge, I had missed the morning goodies, I was just sitting there looking at my phone, when one of the employees, I believe her name was Markita ( probably misspelled). Approached me in the most delightful, caring and concerned way, asking if I needed anything?! The smile, and most professional, customer care attitude made me feel warm and welcomed. I expressed to her that I would like some coffee since I was late coming out to breakfast bar. She immediately assured me, " no problem sir, I will take care on you!!" Wow, with employees like this, I recommend this place to all customers, looking for exceptional customer service with a great smile! This is a beautiful place to just relax and enjoy the beach. Great views but other than that, this place needs better upkeep. Our room was so dirty and we actually bought our own cleaning supplies to clean the floor. We saw multiple cockroaches in the room and blood on the slip mat in the bathroom. Unsanitary and disgusting. read more

This is an excellent facility with an ideal location beach-front. The most compelling part, though, is the magnificent staff. Because I'm sick/dealing with cardiac issues (going to Mayo nearby soon) & special needs, I've been able to witness first hand the exquisite service provided by the Navy Lodge management/staff. I've received upper echelon service/empathy/assistance from the manager and every single employee with whom I've interacted from the beginning, which I believe initially was utterly fabulous Tina (hope I'm getting that name right as she's amazing) via phone & in person. The manager & additional staff (down to the wonderful housekeeper) have all been mammoth helps to me. They have answered every question & accommodated every request (I have severe anaphylactic allergic reactions & have to strip sheets & replace w/ my own, etc.) not only kindly, but with above and beyond help. I'm not an admiral's wife, not even a captain's wife. I'm just the middle of the road in terms of my husband's naval history....but that didn't stop the Navy Lodge staff from treating me with Admiral level care/service. I give the Navy Lodge Mayport my highest recommendation accordingly. You will enjoy the actual facility (with fabulous mini suites so you can eat in/not waste money on eating out perpetually) with its million dollar location/view oceanfront. You will enjoy the free breakfast, too. But you will LOVE the staff. And when you look at the facility as a totality (including for price--amazing pricing for this location/level of magnificent management) with the lodge building itself/location, the breakfast, the cleaning staff, EVERYTHING....and add in the truly iconoclastic level of extraordinary care/attention to detail by the management/staff, you'll conclude as I did/do that this is one of the best hotels/places to stay that you will ever find. This is one of my fav Navy Lodges which so happens to be located on Mayport Naval Base right on the beach! Very easy to reserve rooms online and happy with the room cleanliness/readiness and customer service provided by the Navy Lodge staff! The Conference Center and ballroom is right next door so very convenient to be able to host an event with"beach lodging" in JAX! DOD ID is a "must have" in order to access the base and The Navy Lodge! This is a good place to stay! read more

I know once the remodeling (looks like they just started) this will be close to 5 stars. If you have ever stayed at a Navy Lodge you will know that the price is affordable in some not so affordable areas and the fact that this is literally yards from the Atlantic Ocean drives that point home. For a mere $3 upgrade fee we had a balcony view meaning you roll to the other side of the bed and watch the sun rise.....incredible. The rooms are clean/spotless 99% of the time but not so much this time but oh well. The staff really needs to let go of the federal employee attitude (even though they are not) and get bit by the hospitality bug because they are relatively cold and rude. I'm not used to a Navy Lodge providing breakfast but this one provided a brown bag breakfast with a yogurt, danish, and apple juice. There was also a coffee dispenser with decent coffee. I think they must have put some more $$ into the grounds because they were immaculate and made the exterior rival most beach side locations. My only suggestion is to not have the sprinklers going until noon but that may have been because the sod was new. Oh well, minor details. Overall this is by far our favorite beach location because it is so laid back and the beach is on federal property so its like your own private oasis. Definitely stay here and NOT the Jacksonville Air Station Lodge. read more

Great place right on the water best hidden gem in military travel/ recreation better than out in town rates

Had some ship's business in Mayport. Navy Lodge excellent value - right on the beach. Nice staff and clean comfortable rooms. Breakfast so so. Not much going on here - very quiet. Gym is very close and some fast food. Difficult to go have any drinks in town because driving on the base even after one or two beers is a big nono. So cocktails must be consumed in the room! Kinda boring on a week stay. Luckily we got an invite to the CPO club next door, and they were very welcoming. A great place to stay, and very inexpensive - just know your local options for entertainment are pretty limited. But if you just want to relax by the sea - can't be beat. read more

My fist time on base for an event. I was attending a wedding. First impression, the building seemed very generic on the exterior and it was not labelled how I'm use to other locations being labelled but people did help us to find it (major cool points). Once inside I was impressed with the diversity of rooms inside this venue (bar room, main room, party room, VERY NICE outdoor seating, and other really cool room that the bridal party was using to get ready. Ok pros: set up for the reception AMAZING, service: perfect timing, staff: approachable and helpful. Food: pretty good, bathroom: nothing too spectacular but lots of mirrors and very clean! Cons: nothing that I can think of! Ha that's a first for me i usually can always think of something!!!! read more

When we are doing road trips we try to stay at this Navy Lodge because it is located right on the beach, and if you pay for the upgrade you can get a beach view. The rooms at this location are always clean and the staff are always accommodating to our needs. Another great thing is that the pool is next door to the hotel and the bowling alley is only a short walk away. I also like that there is free breakfast in the morning. For what you pay a night to stay at this location compared to other hotels on the beach, this is a great place to stay. read more

We had stayed here a few years ago and it's much improved. Rooms have been redone and beds are very comfortable. Prices are reasonable and you can't beat the view from our balcony of the ocean. The breakfast was very minimal, but well stocked and clean. EVERYONE was very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our shower drain and it was fixed right away. This is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Mayport Navy Base. read more

I must agree with a fellow reviewer regarding the attitudes of some employees; you would think they are giving you a room for no charge, not the case...We're paying customers & should be treated as such; although, I have to disagree about not staying at the NAS Jax lodge, the rooms are much nicer; although this lodge sits on the beach it's very dated and on it's last leg as far as the outdated decor/furniture is concerned, the laundry facility is out of order completely, it appears some renovations will be taking place at some point soon. There's a fridge/microwave provided as well as a dvd player, movies & dishes can be obtained from the front desk, the complementary wi~fi is stable & the tv channels are mostly clear, this particular lodge serves a breakfast bag of yogurt, pastry and juice. The room wasn't as clean as it should have been, the carpet didn't appear as though it had been vacuumed, debris on the carpeting, there was layers of dust on the furniture, I gave it a good wiping down with lysol and cleanser. The aging AC unit is adequate but noisy, leaking outside. The curtains are dingy, they've seen better days. I have a peek~a~boo view of the ocean from the balcony, there were not any ocean view balcony rooms available for upgrade, it's close proximity to the ocean and reasonable price point keeps it booked solid for weeks at a time; if you're planning to stay here book well in advance. I'd like to see the newly remodeled rooms elevate this location to 5 stars. read more

Great location on Mayport next to the beach and reasonably priced. My wife and I were driving through and our original place we wanted to stay at, Gateway Inn, no longer accepted leisure travelers. Navy Lodge was just next door and they had plenty of rooms. A room facing away from the beach will run $64 and a room facing the beach is about $20 more. We chose the lower cost option because we were out walking on the beach anyways. The room itself was comfortable, the beds were full size, nice little kitchenette if needed and a TV with local channels. Clean bathroom with added toiletries. Can't beat it for the location and price. read more

Great room, great view, great service. All the Navy lodges I've stayed in have been nice, but this one was most comfortable of them all, in my opinion. Kitchenette made it easy for me to prepare easy meals for us and our baby, as we were here for a week. Room was very spacious. View was awesome; we were literally on the beach. This review is for the process of making a group reservation, not for the lodge accommodation itself. I helped coordinate a large work event and had to deal with the group coordinator and assistant manager/manager there. I was attempting to block off 30 rooms to be available for reservation. On multiple occasions, both ladies were rude and argumentative, going so far at one point as to say something along the lines of, " this isn't very difficult to understand, why are you having such a hard time with this" when I insisted on asking detailed questions about the contract. Read the contract they send you very carefully, as the details of it have a tendency to change, leaving you holding the bag. Additionally, if your guests under the group reservation are at all loud or disruptive, expect angry phone calls in the middle of the night, asking you to wrangle grown adults. If you're a bride, making reservations at the navy lodge for your bridal party, assuming you can get past the fact that if you cancel any one room of your group reservation less than thirty days out, you're liable for 50-100% of the cost of the stay, you may want to think about putting contact info down for someone else responsible in your party. Otherwise, expect those phone calls on your wedding night. Additionally, these ladies had a tendency to take a long time to respond to phone calls or emails. After asking for the contract to be emailed so I could review it, I believe it was another three days before I saw anything in my inbox. Read the contract, ask questions, and be prepared for some very rude employees. read more

Awesome hotel right on the water! Come rooms have kitchens with full size fridges and a cook top others only have a mini fridge. Desk staff is very friendly and efficient at getting people checked in/out. Rooms are a little dated but not worse than a lot of beach hotels I've seen and obviously the prices are great. read more

Phenomenal location...Absolutely can not be beat. The accommodations however are old and the cleanliness leave a bit to be desired. Some serious investment needs to be made in capital improvements with regards to upkeep and mattress phase replacement. Great view and cheap price but I think you get what you pay for. Our ac wouldn't shut off. Our TV volume didn't work on a couple channels a night. Every night it was a different channel with no volume. The bathroom had no fan which set off the smoke alarm when I took a shower- even with the door closed. The wifi constantly kicks you off. I'd rather pay for service than get free service where I'm kicked off every two minutes. The continental breakfast is a juice, yogurt, and pastry. Overall it's a nice lodge but it's average. Nothing that brings it above average. I've stayed at a nicer Navy Lodge that raised my standards for military lodging. read more
