Hubby and I visited Maryland for grandsons first birthday. Daughter and her family moved from Kent Island more toward the South so the Navy Base was very close to her home and we decided to stay on base at the Navy Lodge. The location was good as it was very near to the entrance of the base. The Navy Exchange and the Commissary was also located across the street. Our room was on the first floor. The room was an adequate size with a small kitchenette that included a stove, microwave, and fridge. The kitchenette was equipped with silverware and dishes as well as a dish rack with dishwashing soap. The bathroom where the shower and toilet was located was a bit narrow but OK. There wasn't any problem getting hot water right away. The water pressure was also adequate although there seem to be a problem with the drainage. Water in the shower and bathroom sink drains slowly. The air conditioner worked great, although the weather at this time was in the high 70's. The Navy Lodge also served continental breakfast everyday which included coffee, hot water, teas, several breakfast juices, cereal, milk, pre-wrapped muffins, danish, pop tarts, breakfast bars & oatmeal. The small lobby area had a TV available with DVDs that you could watch. Also a separate area with vending machines. Staff was nice and friendly. If given the chance, we would probably stay there again.

Total relaxation with every detail taken care of. First the husband/wife innkeepers Shawn and Steve were amazing and cared so much that we had a wonderful stay. We had my elderly parents w us in their ground floor room called the "Islandscape"and we had one of the main house "Narada" room. The view and location were fantastic. The breakfasts were special 3 course including fresh fruit and something sweet and savory. The baked goods every day by Shawn showed her love and talent for baking--even a goodie bag at our departure. If I lived closer, I would come more often! There's a game room, binoculars, hot chocolate w mini marshmallows, beautiful sitting areas to enjoy the view throughout the property including the front porch where we hung out after dinner. The restaurant right across the street about a stone's throw away at Charles Street served tapas and seafood w live jazz in a Sat night. We also tried Bugeye Grill another night and they were fantastic too. Never really had to get back in the car as you can walk just a few blocks up to the main part of town w a few shops and restaurants. Right next door is an outdoor salty tiki bar that looks fun when it warms up more. I could go on and on. Oh, and Calvert Cliffs park is only 10 min away by car where you can find shark teeth and fossils, which we did! Soo much better than a hotel or airbnb!

Solomons' famous pedestrian harbor is within easy walking distance. To me, that sets this place apart. There's great attention to details here; husband & wife innkeepers Steve and Shawn are genuine, competent and congenial hosts. Stayed on the second floor of the carriage house, in Sunset Harbor room. It's a lovely accommodation, with a nice, deep soaking whirlpool tub. A private balcony is icing on the cake. Thoughtfully designed common areas are found in the main house as well as outdoor seating in the gardens and large yard. Canopy landscaping in the gardens creates a micro-cooling climate and makes this spot noticeably refreshing. Breakfast, a plated service, is gourmet and plentiful.

There were no linens, blankets, or pillows for the sofa bed, just an empty bag in the closet. Management scheduled one person to man the desk when the hotel was full. I got to vacuum the crumbs myself with the hotel vacuum while the front desk staff member tried to find bedding. None if it mattered because the sofa bed wouldn't open. I spent a very uncomfortable night on the hard sofa with about 1.5 feet of sleeping space. The people upstairs were yelling, running, and jumping off beds until well after midnight so I probably wouldn't have slept well anyway. The front desk staff called their room and admitted to me that they could hear the noise over the phone, but apparently, there was nothing they could do. This hotel has been going downhill over the past few years. We've stayed here a number of times as we visit St. Mary's four or more times each year for swim meets. I will be taking this hotel off our list permanently. Please be advised that their manager will not contact you even after the staff promises they will be in touch. Choice Hotels will tell you it's not their problem and hang up on you when you ask for help. There is a reason this is one of the lowest-priced hotels in the area.

My only complaint was at check-in when they tried to charge me double what my reservation was for. I always like to give a lot of leeway due to covid and the employment issues that are basically everywhere. I didn't actually stay at this hotel, but I wanted to share my experience trying to stay at this Hampton Inn. I booked my stay the same day as my stay and expected to arrive around 7pm (4 hours after check in) and head to bed as I needed to be up fairly early the next day. When I arrived, which was around 730pm I was told that they would let me know when my room was available and they added me to a list of ~10 other people waiting for rooms. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there wasn't one and the best they could do is have me talk with the housekeeper supervisor, but they preferenced that he wouldn't be very nice. I called the 800 number to hopefully get some answers, because the front desk was just unable to answer the most basic questions or provide any real timeframe. When I spoke with the woman on the phone she stated that there were issues with the rooms and they told me to wait, but she couldn't guarantee me a room. Eventually she called the "GM" of the Hampton inn who basically told me to get a refund. That's not really how this works though as I just drove many hours then now be told to get a refund. I eventually elevated the call to someone else in the call center since the person who I was speaking with would only offer me a refund. Fast forward 2 hours later the person on the phone finally figured out how to move me to a different hotel, but was trying to increase the cost per night and didn't understand why I wasn't willing to pay the additional money, since this wasn't my fault. Around 1030 or so I finally had a new reservation and all is well. I did have friends stay in the hotel at the same time, who stated they were having issues with clogged sinks and general housekeeping, but there was zero response from the management at the hotel. This place needs more than a few things, so until they get housekeepers, maintenance people and professional front desk staff - stay super far from this place. Thanks for ruining part of my trip. It didn't have to be anywhere extravagant, just somewhere that I wouldn't have the every day creeping in. I booked just a mere two days in advance via third party. From the reviews on that site and the overall look of the pictures made it seem like an ideal place to spend a night. That is until I was near it and my heart nearly dropped out of my chest. When I initially rolled by I couldn't believe my eyes. From the outside this place looks closed. As I approached the lot all signs saying "Country Inn & Suites" had been removed from the building and pole from outside. Not only that, but there were containers in the lot, old furniture from the rooms, and building materials. The time that I arrived, there weren't many vehicles in the lot either making it look like a skeleton crew was working on the building. I pulled in, drove around the building once and parked because of confusion. The building was obviously in the middle of remodel or repair. As I stated earlier the signs were removed, all the covering for the air units removed, and various shades of paint on the outer walls. It really makes you think, "Is this place even open?" I drove back around to the front and heading to the door. I was half expecting that they wouldn't open, but they did. I walked in and the many boxes of building materials continue into the lobby area. The lobby desk wasn't manned at that time and it still gave off that vibe that they weren't open. Eventually someone came along and asked if they could help me. "Yes, are you guys open?" She reassured me that they were indeed open, just in the midst of a rename/remodel/rebrand. As I opened this review I said that I would probably be the last person to review this spot before the change. She had informed me that this location was leaving the Choice Brands and moving to Hilton Brands. No idea if when they will be finished with all this, but what I do know is that this is very much needed. It was around noon when all this transpired. After being reassured that they were indeed open the lady asked me if I wanted to check in. I knew it was too early, but she was able to get me in. Why not? I made my way through the process and soon had a key in hand. I moved my vehicle and made it to my room. I can see why they are in the midst of a rebrand/remodel. The room was definitely not up to standards. You don't see it at first, but once you get into the room and settled you start to notice things. Once you think you've seen them all, more just pop up. The first thing I noticed was the long stain on the carpeting. It was really noticeable since it was darker than the rest of the carpet. The next thing I noticed were the curtains, there were holes in them and even when closed, light gets in the room. Those were the only things I noticed at first. I then decided to sit in the chair in the room and try to take a very little nap...that is until the noise of the remodel started. They must of been replacing the floor upstairs. At that, I took it as a cue to get out of the hotel for a bit. There are a few pluses here. The room came with a fridge and a microwave. Great if you wanted a little in room treat. Breakfast is served every morning. And ample parking. That's about where they stop, for now at least. When I returned back for the night I noticed that no matter what I did for the air in the room, it never was comfortable. It was freezing for the most part until I jacked it up to 80. Then it was overly hot. What was the culprit here? The windows, who would have thought. This is one of the few hotels that actually have windows that open. I checked those and notice that both of them were unlocked and cracked. Once those were corrected the temperature evened out and the noise from outside really dropped. This room was also really outdated. No USB ports for charging and minimal outlets nearby. Unless you are alright with your items being across the room for charging. Then there is the WiFi, shoddy at best. Each time I wanted to use it I had to resign in. It was a bit annoying. Then, just as I was getting ready to fall asleep, I saw a flash in my room. The light in the small hallway into the room, the light we all use as a nightlight, burnt out. Scared the crap out of me at first. Hopefully once the rebrand is completed this will feel brand new. At least everything they have to offer will be open for use. Including the pool and gym.

Opened in 2009, the hotel feels much older with bedding and furnishings that have certainly seen their share of keggers and bachelor party mayhem. While I can certainly understand a few dings and chips, the bathroom vanity sports toothpaste splatter that housekeeping clearly thinks adds spice to the dismal popcorn ceiling, beige surroundings. For the love of god, break out a rag. Although the fig leaf sized bath towel was both frustrating and amusing. If the rooms matched the sparkle of the public areas (lobby and indoor pool) this hotel would be a constant sell-out. Next time we're shut out of our usual haunts I may just have to re-book and bring a keg. One can only hope. Three beige stars. Note: Contrary to the Yelp listing the hotel is adjacent to the Patuxent Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD not Andrews Air Base.

This review is for the Apartment rental on this facility…read more  My husband and I booked a weekend at Solomons Island for the weekend of March 11th, 2015. We booked two apartment rentals. One, two bedroom and one, three bedroom. We were a party of two families, one, 2 adults one child & the other group was a group of 5 adults one infant. We were told when booking that the rooms did not come with a pull out couch and all of the rooms were seperate and private rooms.     We checked in late Friday night on the 11th. Upon arrival to our rooms we entered the two bedroom first. Which happened to be the apartment my husband, child and I were staying in. Our two bedroom was clean presentable. Most of the outlets were covered. We understand for safety issues, but we had move the whole bed to plug in vaccums to clean, or plug in our computers for work ect. Our bedroom off the kitchen did have a door. We were happy about the door. The one set of  blinds in the bedroom off the kitchen did not shut out the light or privacy close enough for privacy. You had to push the blinds stick a certain way to at least have it shut, partially. The kitchen "inventory" was off. We did not have any wine glasses in our room, no peeler, per the inventory. one of the bedrooms in our room did not have a heater. The three bedroom was clean. The bedroom off the kitched had no door! The hallway lights did not work, the blinds in the kitchen would not come down, not enough outlets for all individuals staying in the rooms. One of the bedrooms had no wall heater so the baby and my sister in law were freezing. Our main issue Friday night. We were booked into Apartments 10, and 12. The neighboring apartment 14 was having a party. At one in the morning my husband and I were called by our in laws to call the police since they were bagging on the walls. We looked at our paperwork and there was no number on the forms we signed for the PMO. My husband had to leave and go to the entrance to go report the people. The police came and left. The people continued until 5AM. We went in the next morning to complain. Our number was given to the manager and told she would call us.  I ended up calling later Sat afternoon and spoke to a woman named Kurvanna. She transferred me to the manager, advised me she was on the other line and it might be a few minutes. I can hold and all three minutes and 15 seconds later she came on the line and said manager was going to be a few more minutes and if I wanted to continue to hold. I told her yes I did. I was on hold for another 15 minutes before the manager came on the line who is Joanne I told her the issues and then she placed me on hold again. After another five minutes the girl at the front desk came on the line again. Her name again is Kurvanna. Who was very courteous. We asked her if we were able to get at least some sort of credit for my in-laws not being able to sleep since they drove all the way from Massachusetts to see us. She said that her manager informed her that they did not do that. I informed her we did call the police and they came by but the people continued. She advised us that it was not the fault of the hotel but PMO for not doing anything. We also asked her about the door missing in the bedroom for the 3 bedroom. She stated that it is completely normal and that the apartments that are attached to the kitchen do not have doors our apartment for the two bedroom did have a door. At the end of our conversation which lasted about 21 minute conversation nothing was handled. The three bedroom should not be considered a 3-bedroom when it does not have a door for privacy for the individual staying with in that room. The form that we had to sign to stay there stated that the quiet times were from 2300 hours until 8 a.m. . It is this establishments responsibility as well as the personnel employed to ensure that people staying in these apartments abide by these rules. If this facility requires us to maintain the property and clean it before we leave by posting a note on the fridge that states we are "required" to clean and gather linnens. Should they not adhere to the policy that they require us to sign or is it just a suggestion?  I am also now terribly upset by the fact I was on hold 21 minutes, spoke to the "manager" for all of 15 seconds before she put me back on hold. She then did not even address me personally, but had someone at the front desk attempt to solve email to a problem she could have resolved at her level.
