Steak Salad
T H.

Very clean and updated. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. I had the steak salad and it was a HIT !!!! Steak was tender and delicious

Hamburger, broccoli

Salad bar looked fresh. Hamburger on really fresh bun. Steamed broccoli was perfectly done- hot and crisp. Waitress pleasant and zipping around. Bright and clean dining room. Deck of cards on each table to pass the time with. Old rusty farm equipment on display outside. Steakhouse with bar.

Gothenburg, Ne. Factoring in everything, I probably would not give this place 5 stars. However the quality of the meat was surprising and the taste was quite amazing. We stumbled upon this locals gathering spot because of a Tesla charging station located a short walk away. It looks large and fairly modern from the outside, but upon entry I really had my doubts. It looked like a typical midwestern supper club with the bar and the dining area. The dining area was brightly lit with fluorescent lights, and there was the ubiquitous salad bar, probably the same make and model that's in thousands of supper clubs. The bar was nicely lit, much more intimate and relaxing. The glaring dining room was decorated with an abundance of Knick knacks and an assortment of vintage items on a top shelf winding its way around the room. One of the locals, Greg, a conductor on the local railway, introduced himself and entertained us for awhile at the salad bar. The salad bar was typical and adequate. A sign was posted one trip only. The plates were not plates but saucers. Obviously there must have been a problem with folks getting glutinous with the salads. My thought is, at this point, ditch the salad bar and just serve up the salad size you want to give your customers. It took awhile to get our steak and ribs. The waitress kept us informed where we were in the queue as the cook doesn't cook too many steaks at once. I ordered the New York strip which they called the grandma or something like that. It was cooked perfectly. It was spiced perfectly. The taste was what a good steak should taste like. The thickness was about 3/4 of an inch, it could have been thicker.at least it wasn't the half inch slab you get at other places. The ribs are also amazing. The marinate they use colors the meat slightly red but there was no overwhelming taste of the sauce. The ribs were meaty and fall off the bone tender.

Naughty cow & farmers daughter

My sister got the "naughty cow" and I got the "farmers daughter"! Both options were great. We also tried the corn nuggets, which were good. The salad bar had a variety of topping choices, the atmosphere was a good family restaurant, and the staff were kind!

I'm am an avid driver to and from Colorado and every time I try to stop at a random steak house in Nebraska. During my last drive I was kind of in the middle of nowhere and not much was open until we saw this gem. This place was exactly what we had in mind when we wanted a steak dinner. Tha ambiance was perfect, the service was super friendly, the steaks were very fairly priced, and the flavor and quality was amazing. I would put there whiskey Steak and their ribeye up against any of the nice steak houses. It was honestly a great experience and I cannot wait to go back. I would highly highly recommend you try this place. Especially if you are on a road trip. The location is right off I-70 the kitchen is open until 10 and the price point can of be beat!! Can't wait to be back!

Bull fries one of Nebraska favorite appetizer. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

We enjoyed our visit to NBG. Food was tasty. "Grannie's" service was excellent. And, the decor was quite engaging.

This business closed it's doors on New Year's Eve. The food was okay most of the time. The prices were respectable.

This is a fantastic place for the I-80 road warrior! Steaks and Chicken Parmesan were great! And full, old-fashioned salad bar was fun.

Visually, it's a great spot--beautiful inside and out, an amazing patio, lots of TVs, and an impressive bar with 48 beers on tap plus beer flights. Unfortunately, during our visit, both the food and service fell short. We started with the pork belly bites. They were okay, but the texture wasn't what we're used to--we typically prefer them cooked a bit more. We also ordered the crab cakes, which came as three large pieces on a bed of lettuce (basically a big house salad). After a few bites, we realized they were ice cold. We let the bartender know and they were sent back, but they came out ice cold again. To their credit, they removed the item from our bill, which we appreciated. We then ordered a burger. The patty was very thick and had potential, but the fries were ice cold. Service slowed at this point--it took a long time to get ketchup or any follow-up. We noticed staff eating in a booth behind us while two employees behind the bar appeared busy, which was disappointing. The beer selection is excellent, but my Dirty Shirley tasted off. I switched to a Tito's and Sprite, but it still didn't taste right--likely flat soda that hadn't been changed. Overall, the patio and beer selection are highlights, but the execution on food and service missed the mark on this visit. Based on this experience, I'd give it 2 stars. Glad I didn't order the steak, as I think I would have been disappointed. -- Foodie99

We waited 20 minutes to be seated and ordered within 10 minutes. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer (thank goodness we did) -- they were fine but the chips were kind of soggy and all the meat was at the bottom of the pile. It took a while for us to receive them. Definitely something I could've made better at home but good enough. We ordered our entrees at the same time we ordered the appetizers. It took over an hour before our waitress came and asked if we'd received our food yet, and she rarely checked on us before then. Tables that had been seated at least half an hour after us received their food before we did. She told us there was a weird glitch in the system which is why we hadn't received our food, but she wasn't apologetic and didn't do anything to try and make it right. Still charged us full price for everything, not even comping a fountain drink which I had to ask her to fill every time she came by rather than her seeing our drinks were low or empty and taking initiative (like a decent server should). When our food finally came out, it didn't come together. My dish (buffalo mac) came out first and we still waited another 5 minutes for my husband to get his wings. The food was okay. Like the nachos, I feel I could've made something better myself. Definitely not worth waiting an hour and a half for and not worth the $50 we spent. Don't get me wrong-- I understand when an establishment is short-staffed or if it's a busy night (I know a Saturday night will look different than a weeknight), but this was honestly ridiculous. Though it may have been busy, the staff didn't act it. It seems they are not well-trained. I'm also disappointed that our waitress made no effort to improve or redeem our experience. Like one of the other reviews said, it seems they have a good location with a lot of potential, but I would not waste another minute here.
