Dropped in on our way to The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles. Looking for crawfish, this spot did not disappoint. You order from a counter and they bring your food to you. Crawfish, snow crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage were all served quick, hot and with the spice level requested (hot). French fries and fried okra really hit the spot. Only miss was the hard boiled eggs that had a gray yolk so we passed. Beer was cold and the team we interacted with were friendly and seemed to enjoy where they worked. We went to Boil City for my nephew's birthday. We ordered 3 lbs of garlic butter mild crawfish and it did not disappoint! The crawfish were well seasoned, juicy, and the meat was tender. The price was reasonable considering how huge the crawfish were. The service was quick, and I liked the family atmosphere of the restaurant. We got our food 10-15 minutes after ordering. My only complaint was that the fried food menu was too greasy. The egg rolls had so much grease that it left a puddle on the plate. Other than that, Boil City was a good dining experience. read more

Yess! Okay so I was skeptical--not gonna lie--but their boil was pretty good!! They offer daily/weekly/holiday specials! The Valentine special was MORE than enough for my husband and me! Decent price for the amount of seafood. They are quick and efficient. They offer Pepsi products if you are drinking soda. Boiled shrimp are AMAZING! The sausage is okay but the crab was overcooked! I also liked that they had sinks for handwashing available, as well as gloves for those who choose to use them. Early in crawfish season so they were overpriced! read more

I love boil city, my boyfriends favorite it's the lunch specials, the City Pack. I fell in love with the poboy! I tried something new today, and it was the Pirate Chicken. It was good, the order was packed great, it was a huge serving! But the chicken was so dry, and some was super chewy, it wasn't really tasting right. The flavor was so good but the chicken was over cooked! Other than that i would recommend this place 10/10. This place is not good. No way they get any more than 2.5 stars. My wife and I went tonight and had the fried oysters and one pound of boiled shrimp. The fries that came with her oysters were pretty good. Everything else was not good. Way too much butter or grease or whatever they dump your food in when they bring it out to the table. Went to this place for my wife's birthday. My wife got shrimp and fish and I got the fish and wings. My wings were kinda burnt and the ones that weren't were too salty. My 1st filet was fine, but when I opened the second one, it was pink as seen in the photo. We got the server and she brought it back to get another one. So she comes back and she waited while I checked it. Again, it was the same, only the crust was harder. The manager came over to explain about why it was that way. She told me it wasn't catfish, but a different type. I asked her what kind and she couldn't tell me. Then I jokingly asked was it a hybrid catfish, she took it as a legit answer. Here from out of town, it's my birthday tradition to get a spicy crab boil. Unfortunately the past couple of years we have been in the DFW area and people think Cheese-it's are spicy there. We looked at a couple places around Orange, Beaumont and Lake Charles as we have family we were visiting here. Obviously I was pleased with my selection of Cajun cuisine being in SE Texas. I decided on this place. We were greeted by Captain Jack Sparrow in the front door. We were prompted by a sign that informed us to pick up a menu, and follow the yellow brick road (yellow paint) to the bar to order. The menu was very easy to understand. I chose a boil bag, which contained two clusters of crab, an enormous amount of shrimp, boiled eggs, corn and potatoes. My girl got the mini boil which is basically half of the regular one, and some family got crawfish and fried shrimp. I asked the young lady what flavors she recommended and she recommended the house blend which was a mix of Cajun, garlic butter and some others. She asked my spice level. I told her that I was okay with having to contact a plumber, but not a doctor. She recommend 3/4 spice. It came out in a timely manner after we served ourselves drinks and were able to sample margaritas. This was some of the juiciest crawfish, though varying in overall size, I have ever had. It held the spice perfectly. The snow craw was good. It was not over cooked and was also seasoned perfectly. It retained the oils and spices heavenly. The unpeeled shrimp was absolutely to die for. It was actually kinda ridiculous. I'm somewhat depressed having left because I'm worried I'll never get shrimp boiled so well ever again. The fixins as they have it, (corn, potatoes etc) just sat in the spices and oil until I bit into them and they literally exploded with flavor. I was smart enough to throw on gloves and trust that there would be some spice to the food. The 3/4 spicy level was perfect for me and actually made my nose and eyes water after I ate it for a while. I'm one of those guys who does spicy food challenges for fun. Their spice levels are higher than what I would say is objectively accurate. If you don't like it to burn your lips, don't get any spice at all. I like it to burn a bit. The staff was friendly, the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. If this place were to open in Ft Worth, it would put half of its customers into a food coma and the rest into an actual coma. If I'm ever back around these parts, birthday tradition or not, I'll be back. Very pleased. 5 star service. 5 Star food. 5 star environment. read more

The appeal of this establishment is fair. We were greeted and how everything worked. The cashiers were very friendly and helpful. We had the boil bag with shrimp, snow crabs potatoes and corn. We added a pound of crawfish. The presentation was very eye appealing but to our disappointment the crawfish seasoning was on the outside and everything was just too oily. Will give it another try and see if we can order light seasoning no oil. read more
