Driving range

Being from Rockville, this has become my home course. I really started playing a lot here in the past year and therefore this review may be a bit biased. The rates are very competitive. If you purchase a tee time on GolfNow.com (I wish I had a free round for every time I plugged this site), you can get 18+cart for around $22-28. Weekends are usually $30+. The twilight rates are hard to beat -- at $15, you can walk as many holes till the sun sets, which, more often than not, is a full front or back 9. The executive course is great too (7 par 3's and 2 par 4's that play pretty challenging) and it's all for $14 to walk. The driving range is nice and it's $5 to get about 50 balls. The markers extend to about 225 with the net running into the 11th fairway. The proshop isn't somewhere I'd shop, but they have a decent selection of goods available. The grill on the 2nd floor is relatively cheap, offers good food, and provides nice views of the 18th green. The course is usually in very good shape. The greens are very large and easy to hit. Unfortunately, they are a bit slow and I don't have a lot of success putting on them. The course offers a nice array of holes, including a beautiful par 3 over water and two long back-to-back par 5's. There are nice elevation changes off the tee box and many holes are much more complicated than "hit it straight and long." The layout is definitely fun and challenging. I've also taken a lesson here and I must say that in just over 50 minutes, I added 15 yards to each club and was able to start correcting the devastating slice i hit with driver. All in all, worth it. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

This course has an excellent layout with plenty of elevation changes and challenging holes. It is not the longest or shortest course in the Montgomery County Golf (MCG) system. The condition of the course is very good. Just rating the course alone would give it 4 Stars. However, mid-week it had one of the worse pace of plays of any MCG course I played (started at 11:30am and ended at almost 6pm on a Wed!). I was told by an employee of another MCG course who was in my foursome, that they overbooked by splitting the tee times, as evidenced by teeing off the 10th hole. Despite slow times, they did nothing to speed up play. Wish they had rangers like Falls Road. Based on the course and closeness to home I will play again, hoping the pace of play is better - will definitely avoid on a weekend.

Montgomery County Maryland does a great job maintaining the nine MC Public Golf Courses. Needwood has become one of the local favorites with its signature 18th hole. The staff at Needwood has turned over in recent years but their courtesy and professionalism has not changed. The course is challenging but fair. I believe I have Parred every hole just not in the same round. Needwood clientele mirrors the residents of the County. It's a good place to build your golf skill and make new acquaintances along the way.

Overpriced, grumpy staff, and they rush you through the entire time. Save your money - go to Red Gate.

After years of frustration without improvement, golf is finally fun again with my training at Peak Golf, because I now know exactly what I'm doing wrong with my swing and exactly what I need to do to fix it. I've worked with dozens of swing coaches over the years, and I've never met anyone with more golf expertise than Jason. His scientific understanding of the golf swing is unparalleled. After evaluating my swing with the most advanced technology, he was easily able to pinpoint exactly what needed to be changed with my swing. He then provided me with very straightforward and simple drills that I could work on at home or at the range to make the changes become second-nature very quickly. The golf swing is incredibly complex, but the team at Peak Golf Fitness has somehow made it very simple and repeatable for me. As an unexpected benefit, he also helped me identify the muscular imbalances that were causing my lower back pain, and he gave me a handful stretches and exercises to do at the gym, which have been incredibly effective in curing my lower back pain. Perhaps most importantly, Jason is incredibly patient and it's obvious that he truly cares about the success of his clients. It's a great pleasure working with him, and he will be my coach for as long as I play the game. I would highly recommend Peak Golf Fitness to anyone looking to improve their golf game!

The HUGE plus is that there are trees blocking the hot sun for almost the whole thing, and that is awesome! There are some parts where it is VERY secluded, and I always am wary of running under the bridge, but if you go in the daytime...it should be fine since there are so many people on the trail. I don't recommend wearing both earbuds when running here because you need to hear cyclists coming behind you, as well as runners. If you do run with music, put one bud in and one out. Or just turn your volume low. Can't wait to come here when Fall hits! The scenery should be beautiful.

The opening hours are limited but I was able to get in on a Saturday right after practice. Lots of families were there with the same idea. Just be prepared to be patient to find parking because the location is in a warehouse/garage district. The staff were very kind and helpful in showing me where the bats, batting helmets, gloves and other supplies were. Think about this place like a thrift store - some items are in great condition, some are passable and ok for a season, but you may have to lower your expectations if you are looking for super low prices. But knowing that some new bats are $100+ or even upwards of $250+ a pop, getting a decent one for 50% off retail is great when you don't have the luxury of waiting for sales. And if you are conservation minded like me, the fact that this stuff isn't just getting thrown out and can be used for others is a plus. They also obviously have softball, football, hockey, soccer, and other sport supplies in stock. And the store did not smell like a nasty locker room, which us a great sign.

Not simply because he was running late, but because the house (castle/waiting room/party room) was absolutely filthy. I was really taken aback by a business looking like this, even if it's a business that works w/ animals. When we got there, the owner and assistant were on a ride w/ another group. Then the group we were supposed to be riding with were an hour late, so we had to wait for them. It was just annoying, although Steven (owner) was friendly. When we walked into the empty house it looked like a construction space, a hen was walking around the inside and I even saw it poop IN THE KITCHEN! Things finally turned around when I hopped on Sherman (my white horse w/ black spots). He was a greedy little thing and ate up all the grass but he was a great horse. Steven immediately put ppl on the horses and taught us while we were riding. He was a straight to it teacher and I liked that. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to animals. He took a bunch of pictures and videos and sent them to everyone in the group. I'm thankful to have such awesome pictures that didn't cost us extra. I'm giving 4 stars despite the filth because Steven was friendly, welcoming, and I enjoyed the experience. Tip: -don't eat there if germs bug u -don't arrive early, there's no point -yes, you're in the right spot, even though it looks a little funky on the outside
