He takes time to make sure all my questions are answered. He works with me to address my health concerns and makes sure I understand my course of treatment and action. He makes sure we are on the same page and understanding. He takes his time to explain the prescriptions and their side-effects, how they work, and the science behind them. He discusses several options, the outcome of each, and which best works with my lifestyle for the best result. I have NEVER seen a doctor who cared so much. He always prints out handouts for me to take home and he directs me to related articles and resources to educate me on my health condition. I went in to have my thyroid checked (a wonderful by-product of my first Afghanistan deployment) and potentially adjust my dosage levels. He listened - somewhat eccentrically - to me describing the situation and then detailed his treatment strategy that he was going to go through. It jived with my internet research on the subject so I went with it. My only complaint was this overweight Persian woman who insisted on yelling into her phone for 30 minutes while we were in the waiting room. The nurses did nothing about it and right when I hit my breaking point and was about to say something did she go back for her appointment. It makes me want to go buy the cell-phone jammer and keep it on me for such occasions. Even if they are illegal. I'll go back - better than what I can say about the VA!
