This business is disgusting. We travelled from Edmonton to Hope B.C. to attend a scheduled site-visit to arrange a cost estimate for work. We requested confirmation by telephone 3 times prior to travelling to Hope from Edmonton. Each time we needed to make our request by voice mail and received no response. The day of the scheduled appointment we used a local landline to call for an estimated time of arrival. We were advised that an email was sent to us declining a site visit. This email was not received in our in-box. However, an email was sent to us the end of our first travel day from Edmonton to Hope which I did see until I was advised, through this email, about cancellation of the site visit. After having called 3 times the week previous you would think that someone would respond. This did not happen. Absolutely disgusting business practise. read more

STAY AWAY! They are under new ownership and have terrible service and management My furnace quit working over Christmas and I called Neels. In total I was charged $2,000 for overpriced and ineffective repairs over a few visits. The furnace has never since that time functioned more than intermittently at best. I requested another technician and I was told to get a new furnace somewhere else and that they had told me that from the start. They offered a $500 refund, which I refused. This was after: - the technician put the wrong blower motor in, and charged me for the second visit to install the right one - the electrical wiring was not professionally completed - After I insisted repeatedly to the technician that the house and furnace was 30 years old and I'd rather buy a new furnace than throw money at parts - but then they had the nerve to say that I refused to replace my furnace and only put money on repairs. I've been replacing appliances steadily with high end new appliances. Why would I spend thousands on repairs? Other heating companies told me it should not have been so expensive to fix had I chosen that route. I would not cheap out on properly addressing a furnace and go through all this terrible mess of incapable service and be stuck $2,000 in deep, and now purchasing a new furnace with a different company like I should have in the first place. We had a somewhat difficult a/c installation issue last summer as we have a gas furnace in the crawl and electric heat upstairs (no ductwork up) and John came out and worked out a perfect solution for us (central a/c for the main house and a split mini heat pump upstairs (btw if you don't know what a split mini is and you need to heat and a/c a smaller space...look it up...we LOVE it). The other companies we had come to the house were either outrageously expensive or did not offer a workable solution. Following up...this winter right before the cold snap we are having issues with the furnace and John came back out and we worked out a way to fix several issues...long story short...our HVAC has NEVER worked so good...we are toasty warm and are VERY happy with Neels!!! I would totally recommend them...super professional service and awesome work plus great attitudes even though our crawl space is dirt and very wet (sorry guys)...PLUS they gave us a HUGE discount on the work they did! So if you need any work done or are needing a new furnace, heat pump, or a/c...I would recommend Neels! Adding: our power bill is literally HALF since the work got done and our freezing cold floors aren't freezing any more Also, I am not sure if the other reviewer had Neels come out for the estimate or not, but we had Claus Neels and Sons (totally different company) do an estimate for the same job, and they did not get back to us with a quote. In fact, the gentlemen said, "Putting a/c in this house is 'iffy'"...Nothing is "iffy"...there is always a solution to every problem...if you actually want to help the customer! read more

We wanted to add an air conditioning unit to our existing furness. A salesman promptly came out to see what we needed, saying he would email us a quote. We did not hear back from him, despite 3 phone calls back to them over the next 1 1/2 weeks. If the job was too difficult, or they were too busy, they should have had the balls to say so.
