My wife and I come to this donut shop pretty regularly but it's because its the closest donut shop and not necessarily due to the fact that it's amazing! Don't get me wrong, there donuts are pretty good but there customer service is ok, they can only run your card with a minimum charge of 10 dollars, they charge you for using your card, plus they seem to charge more than what is posted on their signs! We would prefer to go somewhere else but again this place is the closest in this area with out having to drive to far! The location is right off the road which is nice, they do sometimes give you a few extra donut holes with your order of donuts and have a verity of donuts! We would recommend to only go here if you are in the area and do not have time to drive somewhere else! read more

I was kinda upset that they refused to fill my donut holes with custard. Also the lady behind the counter was rude to one of her employees while there was a store full of customers. save that negativity for the privacy of the back of the store. how embarassing for the employee. maybe he should try working somewhere where they WILL fill your holes with custard. read more

I went in this place a couple of weeks ago to get a donut and some coffee. I ordered and the price that the lady charged me for the coffee did not match what was on the price list on the wall. I informed her of this and she said that the sign on the wall was six years old and that it was now sixty five cents more because she had to put ice in it. I swear on my life that she said that. I'm so sorry that I found this donut shop... they have the best donuts I have tasted in years! If I keep going back, I'm going to end up looking like a raised glazed! They have every kind of donut you want... way better the that chain donut store with the gooey sugar balls they call glazed. I love the old fashioned maple donuts they have too. We've been going here because it's the only donut shop in my area. Donuts are sometimes stale and we've waisted a lot of money and had to throw a lot of donuts away. I decided to call and ask if they are freshly made each day. I was told by (I believe is the owner) that if you lived in this area you should know I've been here 34 years and I should know. Absolutely love neighbors donuts! Everything is yummy and fresh, family owned business. Their donuts are so much better than chains like Krispy Kreme, they are perfect, not too sweet & not too plain. Come here every time I visit family in the area first thing in the morning! Great homemade doughnuts that actually taste like doughnuts should. Came in because I was really early to an appointment I had so I figured I can find a donut place and enjoy some time to myself. I yelped this place and it was the closest one to me so I'd figured I would check it out. When I came in around 10:30 they barely had any good options to choose from. Like it seemed they only made a certain amount of donuts and if they run out then that's it. I asked if they had any old fashion maple donuts so I can drop one off at my boyfriends work and they didn't have any! Not even regular maple donuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off let me tell you that if you own a donut shop then you have to make sure you have maple donuts on deck. I don't think I'll be coming here at all since the lack of variety. read more

2.5 Stars... We have been going here for years, because they are close and cheap, and usually pretty good... But lately the donuts have been super oily! I ordered an apple fritter the other day and I could not finish it. It felt like I was drinking vegtable oil straight from the bottle.. I needed 4 dozen donuts for work. The woman refused to sell me that many even though she clearly had that many and the chef was in the back making more donuts. I give 4 stars for the donut, 3 stars for service. I went in & wanted to buy 5 donuts totaling $8 and change. I pulled out my debit card. The lady told me there was a $10 minimum for cards. Ok fine, give me another donut. I was annoyed because I know there are laws about minimums. I didn't want another donut but I either buy it or leave with none (which was tempting). So I bought over $10 in donuts with my debit card, put in my pin and came home annoyed so I looked up the law. The law is that a business can require a $10 minimum for a credit card, but they are not allowed to charge a minimum for a debit card. Law broken. Good donuts I'm just annoyed that I was basically forced to purchase more than I wanted. Bring cash if you want a donut. read more

First time on shop at noon on a Saturday. Not a wide selection left. Donuts tasted okay. Cake donuts didn't taste very fresh, and the glazed donuts were not fluffy and perhaps too sugary. Overall store Presentation is okay. Custard filled donuts were individually filled with cold custard from the refrigerator. Each one was handled and packed into the box using coffee filters which took me by surprise. Spent just over $15 for a dozen assorted which included three custard filled. Price wasn't worth it. Just another doughnut shop in California owned and operated by Cambodians. Located in the mini strip mall with Chef's Chinese and BB's Laundromat by the Arco (BP) fuel station in downtown El Sobrante. Prices are somewhat higher due to "higher quality dough" aka El Sobrante premium surcharge. Staff is quite friendly and makes small talk with you while picking out your selection. They open around 5 am, which is the time to go for "fresh" sugary doughnuts in the morning. CASH money only. read more

Amazing donuts always fresh and I've always received great service. Took off a star for cleanliness. Tables were sticky and floors were dirty. They are cash only but they have an ATM right inside if you forget cash like I've done several times. read more

Today I took my daughter here to get donuts. I could not believe the owner of the donut shop, which is usually nice, just bypassed my daughter & I. We were next in line and she just helped the lady that was in line after us. I looked at her in disbelief and said "Oh we were next, we are standing here" She just walked away to finish making a milkshake or something she was previously making. Then she said " I'll be right with you". I then told her not to bother & we wouldn't be coming back. My daughter & I then went up the street to Raley's and they had some delicious soft donuts. I just want my daughter to understand that when you go somewhere and give your business it's important that you get great customer service! Not only that but how about some respect too. Wow! Still can't believe the owner of Neighbor's Donuts was so rude & disrespectful toward us. That's ok because in the end she's losing out on customers.
