This is a Mechanic attached to an actual Chrysler, Jeep, dodge DEALERSHIP. But they don't have headlights in stock for a TJ wrangler -- that's a major part out of a one of their best vehicles that was manufactured for 9 years (as recently as 2006)! According to the mechanic he can't stock every part for every vehicle, but you'd think they'd stock one of the most needed parts on a vehicle they probably sold at least a thousand of at that dealer. So they left me to go find my own parts, whereupon I was run off the road, when I got back they were such a hurry to get home 3 minutes after quick lane close, but well inside the dealership working hours, I had to change the headlight on my own in the wind in (-)20 degree (pre wind chill) temps. Which takes about 20 minutes outside, it WOULD have taken 5 minutes at most inside. I realize sometimes people are in a hurry to get home, but it's not like I missed them on the way out the door, the quick lane manager told me they were closed from INSIDE the quick lane. I could even understand this attitude if I had JUST showed up, but I came to them FIRST and their failure to provide a common part at a place that advertises changing "quick fix" parts like turn signals and headlights combined with leaving me stranded outside to change something that isn't easily done with the kind of gloves that work in -20 degree temperatures to me tells me of what must be a culture at that dealership -- maybe it's just big city, but where I'm from, stuff like that just doesn't happen. Bottom line for me: If this is how you treat people who consciously chosen to support your specific brand, I shudder to think how little they would care about someone with a different brand, I suppose they couldn't really care much less for any person. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on the way from Mpls to Fargo on a trip because my tire pressure indicator went off. After stopping to check the tires multiple times and finding one that was acting a bit strange. This place is part of the Ford dealership and I have a Honda so I was at first a little concerned that they wouldn't look at my car. However, they assured me that they would have no problem taking a look at my tire and doing it in a speedy amount of time for someone who drove in with no appointment. Not only did they check the tire that was acting strangely but also checked any tires that were low on pressure to make sure there were no holes or issues. They were sure to let us know what they did, what they found, filled up all my tires, and let us know of anything we should watch for. They charged us nothing, not even for labor. Sometimes going to the dealers makes a person a bit nervous - you never know if you're being screwed or overcharged and I felt so good about my experience with these guys. They brought a lot of needed peace of mind for a stressful situation! read more

I brought my car there on a Saturday last summer to find out why it wasn't starting correctly. I understood that they were short handed on a weekend, but when I hadn't heard anything by Wednesday, I was frustrated! I called and when they heard we were just going to pick it up to bring it somewhere else, then suddenly it was "Oh, we just pulled it in to look at it, I'll call you in an hour." Well, it was 6 hours later, but they did finally call. Got a new starter put in, but I found out later that nearly anywhere else in town would have done it for about 35% less! Now, the starter they put in 5 months ago is bad. Since they put it in, I had to bring it back there to have it fixed under the warranty. I had an appointment to bring in in Monday at 10am. It's now Wednesday and, other than a call Monday to say that they "didn't get a chance to look at it", I STILL haven't heard anything! I assumed, since I had a appointment, that someone would be looking at it Monday morning. Obviously not. Keep in mind, this is just to have them look at it to confirm what is wrong! That's not even counting the time it will take to fix it! Don't bring your car here to be fixed unless you like waiting a week just to get an estimate (not to get it fixed, that's another week) AND you want to pay much more than anywhere else. read more

He was able to get a car for us in the color we wanted as they didn't have it on their lot. The service was fast, professional, we weren't there for hours like other dealerships. They have a small area for children to play with toys and a nice relaxing TV area for adults if they have to wait. They have free cookies & coffee. I moved to Fergus from Minneapolis in the summer of 2017 and purchased a 2016 Focus from Nelson Ford due to my Ranger being 20 years old. The purchase process went smooth enough, but my experiences with their service center are curious, and cause the apprehension I came to feel regarding past experience with auto mechanics/service centers to return to me. The first time I brought a vehicle to them was when my '98 Ranger started showing me an air bag warning light. I made an appointment with Nelson Ford to have them see what the problem was. When they were finished I got in my Ranger to leave and discovered when I pressed the brake pedal to put it in gear (manual transmission) it went all the way to the floor, and I had no brakes. I had no problems with the brakes before bringing it to Nelson Ford service center. I understand that my Ranger was/is old, but I found it strange that after they had it in their shop I ended up with no brakes. Stranger still is the fact that the person who drove it out of the shop and parked it in the lot didn't have, or didn't mention anything about brake issues with my Ranger when they drove it out of the shop and parked it in their lot. Apparently the brake line ruptured while it just sat parked in their lot. I understand that rust can cause that, but I still find it strange and reminiscent of past experiences I've had with auto mechanics/service centers. My old apprehension returned to me and I was a dissatisfied customer, and let them know it. Now I had to leave my Ranger with them because I couldn't drive it with no brakes and now had another mechanic bill to pay for something that happened while they had it. They gave me a break on the cost of replacing the damaged brake line, because they "felt bad for me". Ok, fine..., but that was perceived by me as a red flag warning telling me to keep an eye on these guys. About a year later I brought my 2016 Ford Focus in to them for an oil change. When they finished I drove it home and parked it. The very next day, the very next time I drove it a low tire pressure warning came on. After checking the air pressure on all four tires I discovered that the air pressure was down to only about 15 psi on all four tires while the info on the tire said max. pressure should be no more than 51 psi. I had no issues with tire pressure before bringing it to Nelson Ford, and while I chose to not have the wheels rotated (I'd only put about 2000 miles on it over the last year since purchasing the vehicle from them) I assumed that they would still check the tire pressure in accordance to their 25 point inspection that they advertise that they do with every oil change. Because the problem arose the very next next time I drove it, it appears to me that either they didn't do the full 25 point inspection and my low pressure warning light did not warn me of the low pressure while driving it back home, or they did check the tire pressure and either found no issues, or took care of them. Since I didn't get any low pressure warning when I drove it back home after they finished the oil change it is either very slow to warn of low tire pressure, or all four of my tires somehow deflated down to about 15 psi at the same time, as it sat parked in my driveway. So now I'm more apprehensive than I was before. While I am not necessarily complaining or blaming them, I do feel that it is all quite odd, and felt I should write this review as an FYI for other folks to know about and consider..., especially if they have had similar experiences with the Nelson Ford service center in Fergus Falls, MN. read more

My family has purchased two vehicles in the past few months from Nelson and when I heard the feedback from them about their experience I didn t hesitate to contact Nelson when it came the time for me to find a new car. When I arrived, I was greeted promptly and kindly. I didn t feel like I was being rushed into a deal I wasn t ready to make. Their website also helped me to make an easier decision in purchasing a car because each vehicle I clicked on had detailed descriptions and pictures. When it was time to figure out which vehicle I wanted, Mark Morris was the guy I was doing business with. It didn t take long to figure out which car I was set on and after that, the process to purchase it didn t take more than 2 hours. As this was my first car I purchased on my own, Mark was more than willing to explain things in detail. He didn t rush me and was willing to answer any question I had. Also, Chad Albers in the financial department, was very helpful in explaining the types of choices I had when it comes to a warranty, payment plans, etc. Overall my experience at Nelson was great. I live in Minneapolis now, but will continue to keep Nelson in mind when it comes to purchasing another vehicle in the future. read more

Martinsville,Va location My experience with them - the first and last. Had our truck towed to them because while driving, the truck suddenly wouldn't shift gears, pulled over and transmission fluid was running out underneath. Once they looked at it they called and said the bracket holding the transmission fluid line had broken, and the line broke. Told them to fix it and replace thermostat which we knew needed replacing. The quote was high in my opinion, but needed it fixed. $850.00 They did those repairs. THEN they call to let us know the transmission needs to be replaced $4500.00 - that is not the issue, they did NOT check the transmission until after they did the other work. Brought in for a transmission issue - have spoken with others and that is the first thing they would check. Then they tried to charge me $85.00 extra for the fluid they had to replace after they dropped the pan to check the transmission...they already charged me once for topping it off when they replaced the line. Then she offered to salvage the truck... Needless to say they will not be replacing the transmission, it will be brought elsewhere. read more

I had a terrible experience. I found my dream vehicle, so I chatted with the salesman and got all the info on the vehicle and gave him the info on my vehicle to get all the numbers going before I came. I even filled out a pre-approval form on their website to save time. Which was a waste of my time because they had to fill out a whole new pre approval form when I got there. Before I left town I asked the salesman if I was pre-approved and he said "I was told by finance that you'll have no problem getting approved but we need to work out numbers from trade and new vehicle and then we'll be able to give you the info." I get to the dealership and waited an hour or so just to be told that I am not approved, regardless of my great credit, and that I apparently can't afford the payment. I was not treated like a customer once they knew I wouldn't be approved. So I was lied to and lead on under false pretenses. I took time off work and wasted my time and gas. I'll will never go here again or refer anyone. read more
