There are such beautiful prints in this gallery/shop that I just couldn't believe they were actual…read morephotographs and not paintings! Clive himself was there for a chat, which was so engaging as it sounds like he's travelled the world with his camera. I like that he's had his stuff printed on so many different mediums too - it makes this so much more interesting (and less intimidating) than a traditional gallery space with only canvas on the walls. He has various sizes of pictures but also more fun things like printed umbrellas, or giant floor cushions that I was sorely coveting for my flat but managed to resist when I pictured myself trying to lug it home on the rail replacement buses the next day :P The pictures are on the pricey side as you might expect but he has some stunning landscapes to choose from in case you're looking for something to go on your wall, and most will be limited editions. We were there more for browsing which he seemed fine with too - so I'd def recommend a look in if you're in the area.

To me the décor and theme seems even older than this but either way it's very appealing and makes me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! There are a great deal of imported sweets in Mr Simms, this one in Tunbridge Wells had even more than other Mr Simms that i've been to in the UK. I always find Mr Simms to be memorable and I walk away with something each time! The staff were friendly inside this store but perhaps not as nice as the staff in the Cambridge branch. A decent size but it can become busy and then it's very cramped. I love this store though and I recommend a visit!

They sell very fine antique opals as well as man made ones. I highly recommend this lovely little shop for a little browse if you are in the area. My only wish was they had a website and I could order online but that would I suppose take away slightly from the exhilaration of a fantastic find by foot!

Gloves, scarves and hats are the type of thing that Fat Face is good for, but other than that I wouldn't to be honest buy much of their clothes, as they are a bit unfashionable for my liking. It's the fleecey kinda things that put me off, or the parka coats that just look a bit wrong, and more like your dad would be likely to wear it after returning from a good days rambling. It's all comfortable and warm and well made, but I think their sense of design got a little lost in the soft layers of fleece that their warehouse must be full off.

My five-year-old black pair have faded and look shabby and lived-in - no longer a good look for work. My three-year-old khaki pair are going the same way. I got a navy blue pair of crops for £35. They're good solid cotton. The basic shape hasn't changed over the years. Fat Face just change the details. Although I don't buy into the whole "a bad day on the water/ski slope/hiking trail is better than a good day at the office" vibe, I like their style, their muted colours that look like they've spent time in the sun, and their use of cotton fabric rather than synthetics. This branch of the chain is pleasantly roomy with a generous sized changing room. The assistant came and, without being pushy, asked if I needed another size or style while I was changing. She explained I could buy the size they didn't have by mail order and return the garment to the shop if it didn't suit. Chirpy, friendly staff are just the icing on the cake.

When it's busy the place can get crowded which makes browsing a little more diffcult but the staff are efficient and there's an ordering service at the back of the shop. Worth checking out if you're in town.
