I cannot say enough good things about hotel Neorion. It's located in the heart of old town Istanbul, within walking distance to most of the historical sites. I felt very safe walking at night. The service was top notch, they even packed me a to-go breakfast bag because my early flight was before the regular buffet style breakfast. So sweet of them! I stayed here in Dec, and the hot water was hot hot hot. So relaxing at the end of long chilly days. There is also an in house hammam. Definitely something to experience if you've never had a Turkish bath before. I would 1000% stay here again if I were to find myself back in Istanbul. read more
I am really glad that reviews of this hotel were spot on... this really is a great hotel with an awesome location! I knew this would be a really nice place when I checked in. Everyone was so kind and I could tell that they wanted both me and Camilla to feel comfortable during our 4 night stay in Istanbul. My room was on the 4th floor and was spacious. The room was also really really clean. I felt very safe and comfortable. There were places to sit and relax as well as a very comfortable bed to get my much needed Z's. What this hotel does really well is it goes above and beyond with the little things. When you enter your room you are greeted with delicious Turkish Delight and a sweet note. They also have a pillow menu and list of items that they can give you if you forgot something at home. The rooftop is awesome! I loved sneaking up there with Camilla early in the morning to watch the sunrise and bird watch a bit. At night it is a great place to have a glass of wine or bourbon while resting your tired feet. They don't have a bar up there so you can feel even better about bringing your own snacks or drinks up! There is a pool but I did not use it. I guess I'm just not the indoor pool sort of person. Breakfast in the morning is substantial. They have fruits, veggies, cereal, yogurts, pastries, eggs, and much more! The staff are really awesome and will hey you fresh juice or coffee right when you sit down. They have unobtrusive tip boxes where you can show some paper money love should you wish. In the afternoon there is a free snack time. I didn't take advantage of it. I wish that I had but for some reason I can only fit so much food in my tummy and I wanted to try as many places in the city as I could! I wouldn't have been able to eat much of anything if I filled up during snack time! Again the staff here are really super helpful. I woke up the last morning a bit ... hung over... and slow ... and when I called them to ask for late check out they were kind and told me not to rush. They also watched my bags no problem during the day of my flight and kept them safe in a locked area. Again the location is really good and they are more than happy to give directions. You won't have to walk very far to get to the main sites and I found the area to be very safe. In fact, Istanbul itself seemed pretty safe in the tourist areas. They have tourist police and I think that they really must do their jobs! I did get into one taxi that tried to cheat me ... on the mirror you can see the meter and the guy had it already started. I asked him to start it over (we hadn't moved) and he refused. So I got out of the cab. No big deal. Just thought I'd warn anyone who ends up reading this. My other tip is to go to popular sites right when they open. The crowds are much less and you won't have to wait in line forever. When I come back to Istanbul I will DEFINITELY stay at this hotel. They are worth the small hit to my backpacker budget (I spent a little over $100 USD with a very last minute booking), when I travel on my own thin dime i usually try to stay under $50 a night... Camilla said it was her favorite hotel of the entire trip and that if you have a traveling familiar or someone you want to impress with a value added hotel, you have found your place! read more

The staff at the Neorion hotel was over the top helpful and careful attention to detail is clear. They promptly and gracefully met every need, and were very generous and helpful to provide transportation and assistance to allow us to visit the local sites (which were within easy walking distance). They are wonderful! I've already recommended Neorion to my friends traveling through Istanbul, and they stayed there also. They also had the same wonderfully raving reviews. read more

This hotel was fantastic. Located right in the heart of Sultanahmet, while still being super modern and sleek. The lobby was being remodeled when we were there, but we still enjoyed this hotel so much. The staff was so friendly, from arrival to departure, accommodating our every request and even providing our dehydrated tour guide with some water on a hot day. The best part, though, were all the hotel social bonuses-- mezze hour from 2-6 and wine hour on the rooftop from 8-9. The wine hour was the best... This hotel's sunset is truly unbeatable. The pool is very small and cold, so plan to get your exercise walking around the streets of Istanbul. And the breakfast is nice but starts quite late, plus it was served in the basement which was a bit depressing. But, on the very very plus side, they gave us an extra discount without our even asking because of the inconvenience of the remodeling. This was the best customer service we encountered on our entire tour through Turkey. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else next time I come to Istanbul! read more

Neorion, you have hosted my wife and I for six days for our honeymoon and I must say that there has not been one more thing we could have asked for. Airport pickup was a breeze (amidst some serious crowds), the welcome beverage hit the spot and the professionalism and friendliness of your staff was first-rate. Every single member of your staff was warm and welcoming and just a pleasure to be around. Our triple room was spacious and well-kept. The rainforest showerhead was a definite bonus! The rooftop terrace at sunset is a sight that is tough to match from any other hotel. But as I mentioned before, it's the people that make the difference. Rooms can all be nice but the staff are what sets you apart. If I am fortunate to come to Istanbul again, the Neorion is the only place I will stay! Other notes for travelers: The Neorion is the perfect location in the Old City. It's in between the Blue Mosque/Haggia Sophia area and the Spice Market area. Everything's an easy walk and the neighborhood is as ideal a mix as you'll get for locals & tourists. read more
This place is outstanding. First off, we were greeted by probably the most friendly staff upon arrival, who not only ensured us a hassle-free check-in, but a quick run-down of not just the hotel, but how to best enjoy the city and a few handy tips to boot (no need to walk up to Taksim square: take the tram up to the furnicular and take that up instead, and save yourself the steep climb up Istiklal!). The rooms are also clean, modern, and simply comfortable. There is a dish of Turkish Delight waiting for you in the room, which they will refill at any point (and apparently, on a daily basis if needed!). Same goes for the bottled water, which is great. There is also a free hamman, sauna, swimming pool, and jacuzzi (although the water in the jacuzzi is the same temp as the swimming pool - sigh), which are fantastic ways to end off a long day of walking and line-waiting for some of the more popular sites. And don't let me forget to mention one of the most enjoyable breakfast buffets I've ever had (rack of honeycomb, straight from the beehive, anyone?), which is a definite plus and great way to start the day. They also offer "snacks" throughout the afternoon till about dinner time, but nothing worth coming back to the hotel for, especially with all the great options out in the city available. Note also the great location - minutes away from the main sites, and a close hike to the tram or the Galata Bridge. Overall, a great hotel, and a place that really helped us feel relaxed and well rested. Would definitely stay here again. PS - Did I mention that they give you an entire box of Turkish delights as a parting gift on your last night? Nice. read more

I will shout from the rooftops, to anyone that will listen, about how wonderful this establishment is. Going to a foreign, non-Romantic speaking language, country was a daunting experience for me, but the Neorion Hotel went out of their way to make me feel at home. Everyone was so very friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Also, I knew they had a pool, so I brought my swimsuit, but I most enjoyed the hamam. Many Westerners are unaccustomed to hamams, but let me tell you, you need to stay here just for this feature. It is an amazing way to wind down after a long day of walking and the free evening glass of wine on the Neorion's amazing terrace. This place also has a breakfast buffet in the morning so huge that anyone could find something he or she enjoys! And it's easy (and free!) to fill up before taking a stroll around the area. Speaking of which, you can walk to anywhere from here. Truly centrally located, the hotel served as a base for our walks across the Galata Tower Bridge, to Topkapi Palace, to Sultanahmet Square, to the Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar, and to Suleymaniye Mosque. We will definitely stay here again, as we are already planning a return trip with the rest of the family in a few years. Thanks, Neorion! read more

LOVED our time at this small and inviting hotel. There is a reason it is ranked as #1 in the city - location, service, amenities and the amazing breakfast spread made our stay perfect. For more see my full review below http://www.thislifeintrips.com/reviews/neorion-hotel-review/ read more

This hotel was not the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in, however it had the best location and service I could ask for. This hotel was the key to our wonderful six day stay in Istanbul. The staff really knew who we were, were attentive at all times, and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was spacious and extremely well cleaned each day. We loved the sunset hour wine and beer on the rooftop terrace, in fact sitting there watching the boats on the water and hearing the call to prayer is as the sun set is one of our favorite memories. The breakfast and mezes were delicious and varied. We really enjoyed knowing there was good food back at the hotel after a long day of sight seeing. We also enjoyed relaxing in the hammam and pools in the basement. The location of the hotel is ideal as it is in the historic area and just off the tram line. Navigating in the historic area can be tricky due to a lack of street signs and no organization of the streets, so being able to follow the tram line back the general vicinity of the hotel was very helpful. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, and Hippodrome are about a 10 minute walk in one direction and the Galata Bridge and Eminonu ferry/tram/bus station are 5-10 minutes in the other direction. We found that with the central location of the hotel we were able to walk most places and easily navigate public transit to the other areas we wanted to visit. There was so much to see and do each day, coming back to the peaceful Neorion Hotel was always a treat. I recommend using the airport transfer service organized by the hotel to round out a stress free trip. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293974-d2158116-r288348533-Neorion_Hotel-Istanbul.html# read more

My stay at the Neorion Hotel was amazing! We stayed here September 13th through September 18th. The neorion is conveniently located near all major attractions some are even within walking distance. If your looking for a delicious Turkish breakfast this is your place they have a variety of delicious foods. The most important thing in a hotel setting is the staff! I can't say enough about the wonderful staff at the neorion hotel. Asuman, Ayse, Arda, and hasibe are some of the amazing staff that we came across. I can't rave enough about their hospitality and kindness. Yunus was are ultimate favorite staff member he made our stay much more comfortable and at ease. He was helpful in every way possible. He set up our pick up and drop off to and from The airport, he set up some of our excursions in and around istanbul which is wonderful because we didn't have to worry about anything Yunus set it all up for us. He's a great guy that loves his job and it truly shows. Thank you Yunus! Hope you consider staying at the Neorion Hotel you won't be disappointed. read more

A hotel well deserving of all it's reviews. I stayed here for 3 nights and what an enjoyable time. The hotel had a free shuttle from the airport for stays of 3 days or more. A very welcome bonus after a long international flight. On arriving you are whisked into the lounge area for a beverage where a member of staff will help orient you to the region and help you (if need be) plan out your activities for your stay. A map, suggestions of what to see and helpful tips about what attractions are closed on certain days and it's up to your room. There is a bowl of Turkish delight in each room and the rooms are modern, comfortable and inviting. Particularly impressed with the bathroom. The water was hot, plentiful and I loved the rainforest shower head. My room had a juliette balcony and the door turned into a window which could be left open for fresh air. The location is excellent - everything really is 10 minutes walk so no need for taxis or trains - although if you want one, the super helpful staff are happy to arrange one for you. The hotel provides a buffet breakfast each day and every afternoon a complimentary array of foods is also available. What is truly wonderful is every evening between 6-7pm you can head up to the rooftop for a complimentary wine while you watch the sunset over Istanbul. The view is hard to beat and it's a nice way to wind down for a while before heading out to eat. They also have a lovely pool, sauna, Turkish bath and hot tub - although be warned, the hot tub isn't heated. The only issue was as a light sleeper, I found the hotel wasn't heavily soundproofed. However, it wasn't really an issue because the hotel provided ear plugs. On my last night there I came back to find a towel elephant and a gift from the hotel (a lovely scarf). The staff here were all friendly, helpful and accommodating and as a very frequent traveller, I found this to be a wonderful hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore old town Istanbul. read more

The staff here is simply wonderful. Kind, always willing to help, flexible, and truly world-class service. The rooms were super clean, well-decorated, and the beds were comfortable (& not to mention some of the best brands and flavors of Turkish delight ever are waiting in your room + a time out Istanbul magazine). There were very loud, young guests the first night we arrived (nothing the hotel was able to control immediately), and in the morning after our delicious, yummy breakfast, (without us saying anything), they already had a different room prepared for us, away from the guests. I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Istanbul. They will make your time in this incredible city more comfortable, memorable, beautiful and enjoyable overall. read more
This is easily the best hotel I've stayed in. What great hospitality. My dad and I stayed here for a few days while he helped me move to Istanbul from the states. One of our bags got "lost" in the Turkish Airlines black hole, and we probably wouldn't have gotten it back had Neorion not intervened on our behalf. Then even after my dad left while I stayed (in a slightly cheaper hotel) to try and find an apartment, Neorion invited me back if I needed anything. Wow! read more

Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Stayed for a week in Aug 2018 and was looked after so well we didn't want to leave. The hotel is elegant, charming, very clean & non smoking (which in Turkey is difficult to find). Free bfast & afternoon mezze was plentiful and changed daily so you always had new choices. The staff were very friendly and attentive - really going out of their way to ensure every need was met to give you the best experience possible. They provide a real family atmosphere and you feel like you are being welcomed home every time you walk into a room. Access to the pool, spa, hannam and sauna was unrestricted which was not the case in a lot of hotels I researched (most charged guests after 6pm). Not only is the hotel itself outstanding but the location is great too. Walking distance to all the main attractions and a tram stop and train station is around the corner so you can hop on the modern air cond tram if you don't feel like walking or catch the train to the Asia side to explore. Oh and it's worth having the hotel arrange the airport transfer for you - the shuttle is very luxurious and saves all the hassle- it is free if you book direct with the hotel if you stay more than 3 days. Don't bother looking any further, this hotel is definitely the place to stay if you are going to Istanbul. You will love it! read more
