Let me start with how our day began after our red eye arrival. We were exhausted and jet lagged after a 9 hour flight listening to an unhappy baby and toddler who wouldn't stop crying. Actually it was a cacophony of terrifying wails all throughout the long flight. We couldn't sleep a wink. So we finally landed and searched for transportation. We ran to the airport taxi desk at the airport and was told there's a flat rate of 350 lira and just to find a cab outside. We easily found a taxi and the driver confirmed the rate of 350 liras but somehow he wound up deliberately making the ride longer, going in loops. What should've been a short ride became a nightmare. When we finally approached our hotel, he didn't drop us off at the front and made us walk with our multiple suitcases across the bumpy cobblestoned streets. Of course his rate was not as he promised and he totally cheated and overcharged us! There's political unrest and we've been told it's commonplace for taxi drivers to make rides treacherous so you'd complain about their system. We've learned to ask the hotels to reserve or ask for the taxi ahead of time to ensure the flat rate of 350 lira without any drama. For our return ride via the hotel ordering the taxi, everything went smoothly. Now. Where do we begin? The Sirkeci Mansion has become our home away from home. I have traveled the world throughout my life and have never stayed at a hotel where you were treated and loved like "family". From the moment we walked in, we were genuinely and warmly greeted at the front desk by Araz. He's a spirited, funny and loving person. Even though we arrived way before our allowable check in time, he not only gave us a room as soon as one was available, he offered us to sit down for the free breakfast immediately. The breakfast is available from 7:30 am to 11:00 am each day and is included in the rate. It consists of a spread of hot and cold options, all lovingly prepared and home cooked. The dining area is naturally lit with plenty of sunshine and the decor is exquisite and professionally appointed. When we entered our double room, everything was in working order, clean and comfortable. Our room was cleaned and stocked with two complimentary bottles of water everyday. There is afternoon tea at the hotel from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Turkish tea is personally served to you in the common living room area with posh couches and there's a tray offering mini cold sandwiches which are made from their local sesame "bagels", cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese. What impressed us the most about this hotel was not the incredible accommodations, meals and amenities. The ultimate treasure and hidden gem at Sirkeci Mansion is the heart and soul of the hotel, Mr. Agah Okay Alkan, the very welcoming, knowledgeable and unassuming manager. He is a one man show. Agah checks you in, assures a comfortable and enjoyable stay, addresses all of your needs and on top of all of this, he offers and leads the local tours as a certified tour guide. Once you reserve your tour with him, Agah will lead you on a journey and you will feel like a local hopping onto trams and walking all around the nooks and crannies of Istanbul. Mr. Alkan has a masters in political science and was educated in England. He literally is a walking encyclopedia and it's hard to imagine he has been doing this for over 17 years. He talks to you in the eye and shares his knowledge with such passion you'd think it's his first day on the job. We actually call him our brother now. Among all the beautiful sites, spectacular architecture and towering towers and mosques, what we will take back to the US is the love we felt from the people of Turkey like Agah. All walks of society we encountered in Istanbul - from the barefooted children begging on the streets to the owners of restaurants and hotels, everyone exhibits the same qualities of respect, empathy, loyalty and humility. Even in this hopeless world infested with self interest and vice, after our trip we've discovered that Humanity is still alive and well. We will visit Istanbul in a heartbeat. We will return to the Sirkeci Mansion to reunite with Agah and our family of hotel staff members and neighborhood friends. We definitely left a piece of ourselves in Turkey and did not expect to.
Sirkeci Mansion Hotel is amazing! It is very centrally located in the historic district near most touristy places in Istanbul. It is steps away from the lovely Gulhane Park. Few minutes walk to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cisterns and Blue Mosque. It is also a short walk to Grand bazaar and spice market. The tram station is steps away so it was easier to go around the city. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. We had booked the family room and it was great for our trip. The room was comfortable with all the amenities we would need for the stay. Their breakfast buffet was amazing and had a lot of options with continental and turkish items, and we had enough vegetarian options too. They also had afternoon tea daily which was wonderful touch and much appreciated. The staff was wonderful. Everyone we met at the hotel was very kind, friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They also have Hammam and massage services in their spa. My friend had tried their massage and she said it was wonderful. The hotel is pretty historic and does seem a bit outdated and not as polished at first glance, but the rooms and facility is clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again if I am back in Istanbul as the location and staff are a 10/10. read more

Sirkeci Mansion Hotel is the best! It is in the historic district near most of the must-see places in Istanbul. It is close to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cisterns and Blue Mosque. It is a short walk to the Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, and around the corner from a train station. The rooms are comfortable and the staff AMAZING! Our warmest "thanks" to Sukru Araz at the desk, Fatime in the lobby and dining area, and Sevcan in Housekeeping...They are some of the most caring and friendly people we have ever met on a trip! Do yourself a huge favor if travelling to Istanbul...STAY AT SIRKECI MANSION HOTEL. read more

Second best time at Sirkeci Mansion! A bit late to leave an amazing review for our hotel. We went back again to Sirkeci because we had such a great feeling about the hotel, all the people working at the hotel including Mr. Aga, Sargan, Fatemeh, Anwar and many other employees that made us feel at home. A group of 5 ladies from Southern California consider Sirkeci Mansion our home. Can't wait for our third stay. A special thanks to everyone for showing us abundance of love and hospitality. We miss you all. Betty read more

There's no better location for a hotel! Our view was amazing and our room was comfortably appointed. The staff was charmingly friendly and consistently helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to booking us a nurse to come and administer Covid tests. Breakfast is wonderful and the service during breakfast, cheery and attentive. A sauna and Turkish bath downstairs complement the prime location, as ways to relax after a long day of walking. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I hope to come back soon! read more
Wow. Even after reading the extensive reviews on Tripadvisor about how wonderful this hotel, and the people who run it are, we were still amazed to experience it. The rooms were spacious, clean, warm and had everything you'd need it in to be cozy and comfortable. The breakfast came with an ENORMOUS spread (multiple tables) of food and was unbelievably delicious. The location can't be beat. It's on a cute, safe walking street that's less than a 10 minute walk from Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and the Spice Market. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Grand Bazaar. Excellent location. But it's the people who work at the hotel who stole the show. They were so sweet, knowledgeable and accommodating. Araz, at the front desk, was amazing. Even playing with our toddler who loved him. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. They treat you like family. It was a wonderful experience staying here. I can see why this place is so highly rated :) Nice work guys!! read more

Enjoyed a wonderful week in Istanbul. Highly recommend you stay here. Why? 1. Location location location. 5 min walk to Topkapi Palace. 10-15 min walk to Blue mosque. Tram line is 1 min away. As is food, money swaps, gift shops, bakeries etc.. 2. Service - Mr Alkan sets the bar for his team. We were made to feel like family, and I genuinely enjoyed chatting with him and his team. Even before I had visited, we had exchanged many notes back and forth, all packed with great advice and service. My wife and kids came 24 hours before me, and Mr Alkan took care of making sure they had a good, safe experience. 3. Great breakfast - Yum. Only wish it would start earlier then 7:30am :) 4. Great free hotel experiences - the free cooking class was a particularly memorable experience. And Mr Alkan took my family on a walking tour of the Spice Market visiting a jewelry store to see how jewels were made, and visiting a Hamaan. On both experiences, we weren't charged any money..even when it would have been fair to. I recommend you sign up! Overall, we had an EXCELLENT experience and thoroughly enjoyed ourself. read more

This was the first hotel on a five-week solo trip to several countries in Europe. I had read glowing reviews from other websites and booked directly with the hotel. The most outstanding thing about this property is the staff. They all go out of their way to be hospitable and help the guests in any way they can. The rooms are comfortable, the location is wonderful in the old city near all the major sights. I really enjoyed my stay, with particularly high marks for the free walking tours and excellent breakfast buffet included in the room price. High marks for Sirkeci Mansion, I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel. read more

We're staying in the hotel now. The standard of cleaning at the hotel is very high. I'm from Australia and feel very comfortable here. Water is complementary and plentiful. Staff really go out of their way to make sure you are well taken care of. Great location in a very safe area with cafés and shops on the street. If you are considering upgrading to a deluxe room I really think it's worth it in this instance as you get a beautiful view of the neighboring park read more

This is our 2nd time traveling to Istanbul and our 2nd time staying at the Sirkeci Mansion Hotel. Before our trip, the management was very helpful with the reservations, understanding how to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable and providing best references to places to see and things to do. The hotel is located right in the market place, walking distances to the famous mosques and Grand Bazaar. The views from our room was stunning - view of the garden park behind the local market shops, the city by the water, watching the incoming ferries. Also from our balcony, we saw daily in the evenings and early mornings flocks of parrots!, seagulls and other birds. The staff treated you as if you are an extension of their family. There is always a greeting with a warm smile and asking if they can be of service. One day my Aunt and I were walking around the local area looking for a specific restaurant we had enjoyed a few days prior and made circles in the neighborhood. All of a sudden the front desk manager came out of a restuarant asking if we were lost and we told him our situation. He knew exactly what we were looking for and pointed us to the right direction. He also added that a mistake was made to my bill and there was a significant refund due to missing a discount they had given me. I totally forgot about it and he could have easily overlook it - but he didn't. He could have easily not bother to help us on his break time when we were lost - but he didn't. I asked him why and he replies with a smile - you belong to me and I want you to be happy here. ;^) I love the morning breakfast sitting by the window watching the shops open and people passing by. I love the rooms that are full of warmth and care. I travel around the world staying at many hotels and by far Sirkeci Mansion Hotel is top of my list and will be my 1st choice everytime I come to Istanbul. Many thanks for making my memories special! read more

Great location for all the tourist stuff in Istanbul. Great staff and breakfast is great too. Comfy room with a greeting of Turkish Delight. Restaurant very accommodating to dietary restrictions, etc. and great place to hang and eat after a long day on your feet. Nice to be on the roof in the breeze. Just a really great place to stay. Ended up staying there twice on our extended trip!!! read more

We stayed at the Sirkeci Mansion Hotel for five nights with our college-age daughter, booking an adjoining room. The style, cleanliness, food, beds, location and gym were fantastic, but best of all, the staff couldn't have been more wonderful. They were warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful, steering us to excellent restaurants, suggesting ways to live like a local rather than spend a ton of $ like a tourist (ex: ride the regular ferry at sunset for fifty cents rather than spend top dollar on a sunset cruise). The breakfast was delicious and on top of that, they put out Turkish treats and tea/coffee every afternoon (you can stop in any time between 1 and 5 pm to partake). The location was perfect. And the absolute highlight of our trip was the special tour arranged by Okay, offered free of charge. Okay's English is excellent, and his historical and cultural knowledge vast. He planned a fascinating and perfectly paced tour including stops at a non-tourist open-air market, a mosque, a bakery, a gentrifying, interesting Greek neighborhood near St. George's Cathedral and a ferry ride. read more

Excellent customer service, very clean hotel, incredibly helpful staff who go above and beyond to ensure that their customers enjoy their accommodations and Turkey. For example, somehow the hotel staff mixed up our car service from the airport. The hotel not only scrambled to coordinate car service but also they paid for car service to another hotel (we intentionally sought to have two different hotel experiences in two different neighborhoods). We intend to return to Turkey and we intend to stay at Sirkeci Mansion again. The largest rooms with a balcony, on the top floor have an amazing view. These rooms are very comfortable and beautiful, and the bathroom has both a bath tub and a stand alone shower. The other rooms are much smaller. I intentionally reserved a room less luxurious - i believe it was a deluxe room - because I didn't want an excuse to stay in bed or in my room. The hotel is centrally located - less than one block from the Gulhane tram. Also, you can see Gulhane park from many of the rooms. This is a relatively small hotel but it appears to operate efficiently, like a franchise hotel. However, the staff are so kind (it feels genuine, too) to guests and one another. You do not feel like a guest in a hotel, but a guest in a home. The staff create an intimate, safe environment that makes tourists feel at home in the middle of a beautiful, bustling city. I highly recommend this hotel to friends, family and strangers alike. Turkey is a beautiful and diverse country and this hotel reflects this beauty, as well. read more

This was my second stay at Sirkeci Mansion, and the hotel has, if anything become an even better place to stay in Istanbul. The room, lobby, the breakfast area, and all other public areas were spotless and carefully cleaned. All the amenities worked perfectly - hot water in the bath/shower, effective air conditioning, coffee and tea service - and the lovely top floor room with patio afforded a charming view of the quiet street below, beautiful Gulhane Park, the Bosphorus, Galata Tower, and a large patch of Istanbul skyscrapers in the distance. Bedding was crisp and very comfortable, and the armoire held a week's worth of clothing with room to spare. Breakfast was plentiful in choice and very tasty, and the staff serves guests carefully to minimize our touching the serving area's implements and food before we sit down to eat. Everything was thought of and implemented to enhance guests' comfort and safety as we all grapple with COVID-19. Location is perfect for my tastes, the tram stop around the corner but unheard from the hotel, a short walk to the Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, and other sites, a short walk in the other direction to Eminonu, the ferry piers, New Mosque and Rustem Pasa, and shopping and restaurants everywhere. Sincere applause is in order for the entire Sirkeci Mansion team. Jamilya at the front desk was helpful, efficient, and friendly both in making my reservation and greeting me in person. All the staff sets a high standard for customer service, friendliness, and expertly taking care of any and every request with a smile. All are multi-lingual and spoke excellent English. They arranged a pre-flight Covid PCR test at the hotel and provided the results timely. Jamilya called a taxi for me that arrived in a few minutes at 4 a.m. on departure day. Breakfast servers are all professional and hospitable, and Housekeeping was efficient and took good care of me. I get the sense that everyone at Sirkeci Mansion truly enjoys what they do. I knew this would not be my last time in Istanbul, and I also know that next time I will stay again at Sirkeci Mansion. read more
