The Bosphorus view from my room was incredible; it felt like I could step right onto the ferries below! My only complaint is the whilrpool next was cold. The attendant was amazing, as everytime the jets stopped he would run over and turn them on. When I asked him if he could make it warmer he said he could not. I even had goosebumps the water was so cold.

All of these sites are quite famous and usually take a long time to get in. But during November it is their low season so it was less busy than I have seen it before. Hotel Amira was also my first time staying at this boutique hotel which cost was quite reasonable. The only negative thing is maybe the stairs if you have heavy luggage you will need some assistance depending on which floor you get. We got the 7th room number which doesn't have an elevator to connect to that level. But besides that it was fine. The staff here is quite friendly and nice. If you have any questions just ask them and they will be able to help you out. The rooftop is closed though since it is cold but you can still go on top of it and take some photos of the view. It is fantastic to see the ocean on one side and also the mosque on the other. For a boutique hotel, the location, area, and being able to walk around at all the most famous places in Istanbul is quite nice!

The staff at the hotel was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Our concierge Gökhan was very helpful and made sure our stay was memorable and smooth. The housekeeping personnel did a wonderful job keeping our rooms clean and tidy. Only reason for 4 stars is that both rooms we booked were quite small and needed some minor maintenance which could have been proactively done prior to our arrival. Other than that, it was awesome and I'd stay here again!

The hotel is centrally located in Old Town but for any small thing, the reception desk was not helpful from asking for restaurant recommendations to even asking if the restaurant in the same hotel was available, I was told I should go and check myself. The breakfast was pretty good but surprised by the surcharge for a Nescafe or even Turkish coffee. I would not recommend this hotel purely based on the staff that worked the reception desk, they ruined my experience but was there for work so barely had any down time.

Everyone was so kind and I could tell that they wanted both me and Camilla to feel comfortable during our 4 night stay in Istanbul. My room was on the 4th floor and was spacious. The room was also really really clean. I felt very safe and comfortable. There were places to sit and relax as well as a very comfortable bed to get my much needed Z's. What this hotel does really well is it goes above and beyond with the little things. When you enter your room you are greeted with delicious Turkish Delight and a sweet note. They also have a pillow menu and list of items that they can give you if you forgot something at home. The rooftop is awesome! I loved sneaking up there with Camilla early in the morning to watch the sunrise and bird watch a bit. At night it is a great place to have a glass of wine or bourbon while resting your tired feet. They don't have a bar up there so you can feel even better about bringing your own snacks or drinks up! There is a pool but I did not use it. I guess I'm just not the indoor pool sort of person. Breakfast in the morning is substantial. They have fruits, veggies, cereal, yogurts, pastries, eggs, and much more! The staff are really awesome and will hey you fresh juice or coffee right when you sit down. They have unobtrusive tip boxes where you can show some paper money love should you wish. In the afternoon there is a free snack time. I didn't take advantage of it. I wish that I had but for some reason I can only fit so much food in my tummy and I wanted to try as many places in the city as I could! I wouldn't have been able to eat much of anything if I filled up during snack time! Again the staff here are really super helpful. I woke up the last morning a bit ... hung over... and slow ... and when I called them to ask for late check out they were kind and told me not to rush. They also watched my bags no problem during the day of my flight and kept them safe in a locked area. Again the location is really good and they are more than happy to give directions. You won't have to walk very far to get to the main sites and I found the area to be very safe. In fact, Istanbul itself seemed pretty safe in the tourist areas. They have tourist police and I think that they really must do their jobs! I did get into one taxi that tried to cheat me ... on the mirror you can see the meter and the guy had it already started. I asked him to start it over (we hadn't moved) and he refused. So I got out of the cab. No big deal. Just thought I'd warn anyone who ends up reading this. My other tip is to go to popular sites right when they open. The crowds are much less and you won't have to wait in line forever. When I come back to Istanbul I will DEFINITELY stay at this hotel. They are worth the small hit to my backpacker budget (I spent a little over $100 USD with a very last minute booking), when I travel on my own thin dime i usually try to stay under $50 a night... So I slept with my window open. It was 25.5c regular in my room which is too hot for me. Breakfast much to choose from. I enjoyed the honey cut off the comb! I'm only giving it 4 stars because there were two things that bothered me a bit, you have to leave your key at the front desk when you go out. Not a huge deal, but it's worth mentioning. Secondly, as obvious foreigner, staying in this part of Istanbul can be....annoying. I chose the hotel for its amazing location super close to both mosques. But it's a full tourist location. People stand outside of restaurants and call out to you to come in. You can't comfortably walk down the street without every shop/restaurant owner asking you to come in. It's super annoying and kind of ruined my peaceful solo trip. If you want to stay in a less tourist part of the city stay in KadiKoy. But if you want to be within walking distance to the Blue mosque/Aya Sofia and Topkapi, and don't mind the hagglers: This is overall a wonderful hotel, and I enjoyed my stay while I was there. There's nice view from the terrace. And it's close to the water as well. Also the cleaning ladies are SUPER sweet and took such good care of me. Location: Less than 5 minutes from Sultanahment tram stop, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within a block. We visited during the off season (late November), so there wasn't any problems with an early check-in. The hotel staff were beyond wonderful and were more than happy to assist us with anything we needed. They offer 24-hour car service for a reasonable fee -- it came in especially handy for early morning airport rides. Complimentary breakfast had a nice variety. Rooms and beds were tiny, but still comfortable given that we didn't spend much time at the hotel.
