Eva from Zumba and Emelissa from Turn Up Dance Fitness are both amazing instructors who are getting me genuinely excited for my workout every week! It's about a 25 min drive from my house, which is located within walking distance from the Winter Park location, but to me it is well worth it for the talented instructors! If you aren't familiar with the YMCA or just needing a quick refresh, it's a family and community centered fitness facility that relies heavily on donations and volunteers. The memberships recently had a revamp and now have different options to meet your budget and goals. My friend told me about how amazing it was for her when she was a new mom and it's done the same for me and my family - helped us spend more time exercising, moving our bodies and connecting with our community. The childcare is SO helpful for my husband and I to get our workouts in, and I really love both the space and the people who watch the children. This particular location has an area for littles and a separate area for teens. They also have a splash pad that's perfect for cooling the kids off on a hot day. The pool is located outside by the splash pad and they have open swim, reserved lanes, Aqua Zumba classes, swimming lessons and more. This location also offers fitness classes for toddlers, kids and teens that I don't see available at other locations. The locker rooms and bathrooms give off serious spa vibes! The tile and finishes were done so well. My only gripe is that there is no sauna or steam room at this location. There are also family restrooms with individual bathrooms separate from the locker rooms. The weight room at this facility is huge, open and airy. The studios used for classes are really beautiful with wood floors, big floor to ceiling windows and a large mirror wall. I will say, the max capacity is 20 for classes, so make sure you sign up in advance and show up early. The rooms should be a bit bigger, but the designer used a lot of the space in the hallway to house a grand staircase with large LED chandeliers on the ceiling. Form over function at its finest! All jokes aside, this place was done so well, it really brings a modern feel to the Y. There's even a much younger crowd at this location. The surrounding area is currently under a major reconstruction and will soon become a very sought after neighborhood - the Packing District! The Y offers free trials so definitely take them up on the offer, or ask a friend to take you with their guest pass. It might just be the inspiration you need to start a new fitness routine!

We toured the facilities, the workshops, we actually sat down for some demos from the visual arts department, and then gathered around a kiln for a raku ceramics demo, which was ideal on a cold winter afternoon (winter in Florida?). Also, we were able to visit the gallery, which was hosting a photograph exhibit on the history of turn of the century Lake Apopka, about 40 miles away due West, and that was very interesting and enlightening. We also printed a poster, among other things. Personally, I think it was fun to talk/meet some of the faculty, not that I am immediately looking for a new teacher, but it is good to pick one who has some similarities, or none at all. Challenge yourself. After this visit, I will consider taking some classes here. Or come to more events. I really like Crealdé.

I called today (9 days before the first day) and I was told that it was too late and the last day was Yesterday (10/09/23) (10 days before first session). I pointed out the policy and was told that "session" didn't mean class and it was incorrect so I couldn't get my money back. This is fraudulent. I will be contacting the correct state department for this. This is extremely unprofessional and clearly lacks clarity. If your policy is outdated, correct it on the website. I was first drawn in because a friend who I had traveled with was excitedly identifying herbs and "weeds" in the wild as we drove across the country and back. She would point out excitedly that's Yarrow and tell me the medicinal qualities of the plant, she would point at a beautiful flower and tell me its edible and I'd bite into its bright orange petals to enjoy the spicy freshness. Our trip was filled with many moments such as those. Her passion and excitement seeped in and I too wanted to know these things. So I began my journey by taking the Roots of Herbalism Course. What a wonderful introduction to the world of herbalism!! I feel empowered to cultivate relationships with plants and be mindful and conscious of how I can use herbs and diet to maintain health and to use as a medicine when I feel myself out of alignment. The journey continues and I know that even though the classes I have taken are over there is still a community of herbalists willing to share their knowledge and give advise, or I can purchase their amazing herbal medicines. I also enjoy the community moon circles, a way to dance and drum out energies and intentions and connect with others. They host events, such as Herb Day that bring together many of the holistic organizations and businesses together, providing free classes and a wonderful variety in the marketplace for holistic goods. They also host the annual Florida Herbal Conference, which is a wonderful experience! Anyways, I highly recommend the school. The teachers are excellent, the community is supportive. What more could you ask for?!

I joined in on a culinary class based on sauces, stocks and soups and the guests did an amazing job. The concept of the volunteer is to guide the guests & just be a kind person in their culinary journey This venue is breathtaking, the kitchen is awesome and the knowledge you gain is so worth the experience. Recently participated in the Culinary Foundations: Baking Basics class and had a blast. It was a…read moregroup about 15 and we each selected our baking stations that were pre set with different ingredients, recipes and tools. The instructors and volunteers were there to help us each step of the way. The recipes were unique and very tasty. Everything turned out so good. This is a great place for team building, a date night or even a solo adventure. I will definitely be back to take other classes as well as to volunteer!
