Furnace stop working. Called Nerthling's to come and service the unit. When the tech arrived, he spent less than 5 minutes and told us it was the heat exchange, and we need new Furnace. Funny thing is the heat exchange is under warranty. Within 5 minutes of him leaving a sales rep had arrives to quote a new furnace. Thinking that is was not right, I contact another service provider. When they arrived, they checked the unit over and found that the drain trap was clogged and had the heater working in less than 20 minutes. They also checked heat exchange and Secondary heat exchange and found no issues as noted by Nerthling's and the need to a new furnace . Nerthling's us to be a very reputable but with my last couple experience with them and reviews I am know reading, looks like Erie has a lot choose for HVAC needs. read more

We recently woke up to find the temperature in our home to be 56 degrees. We immediately called HVAC contractors and Nerthling's was the first to respond. Within a few hours, the technician and salesman were out to repair and discuss. With our GeoThermal unit being 23 years old, we decided to replace for improved performance and efficiency. The crew of installers were out 1 week later to put the new furnace in. They were quick, courteous and respectful of our property. A friend brought a new air conditioner from them last year that did not work this summer, it was less than a year old and they made him pay a service call before fixing it. The parts were under warranty but in order to have them come and fix it, he had to make sure he paid the service call first. I truly understand the service cost to be paid if it's over a year old but anything that's under a year that mysteriously breaks I consider that a lemon and should not have to be. Charge to consumer, therefore I would not recommend them. You would think anyone that purchased things from them in the past they would show a little courtesy to their customers read more

I requested a quote from Nerthlings on a furnace install and duct work refresh. The guy came out and took his pictures and talked alot. That all went well and good. He left and said he would email me the quote in a few days. A week went by and no quote. I called and he said he misplaced my last name and said he would get it done that evening. He appologized multiple times and ensured it would get done asap. Several days now later and still no quote. Very dissapointed in the professionalism of this company read more

Nerthling's really does treat your home like it's their own. They're all extremely competent and professional in everything they do. Good thing is, it doesn't stop when things go wrong...that is the time they shine the brightest. I had a few snags this past Spring and every one of them was quashed within a day. Had them come out and do a "Preventative Maintenance" and all checked out okay. Said we should look to get estimate on new furnace. 3 days later furnace was not working. Called again to have them look at it, now its a fee for a new part and furnace still not working. Called owner Dave and he was condescending and said furnace was in need of replacement, but had no problem charging us $307.00 combined for 2 different service calls. When I tried to resolve the issue by telling him I just want my furnace to work and that is what I paid them for he became argumentative and very condescending and said "so its about the money?" Well yes people don't normally pay for a service and get worse than what they had. Especially with you heat. I told the owner I was going to contract the BBB and give them a bad review, he scoffed and again became argumentative. I would NEVER recommend them and went to another company. Mike and John were our installers and they were very helpful and gave me good advice for our central air.this was our first a.c. unit and after they put in our new furnace a couple of years ago we had no qualms about them. Incompetence replete with attitude. My mother called this company after a early interaction the previous year that was satisfactory. Her A/C went out and the representative showed up to repair the unit. My mother was very specific as to not to replace the unit but to repair safely . While diagnosing the issue , the representative ( Nick) stated there was a rats nest near the condenser unit that was short circuiting the wires. He promised to send a picture and said the repairs were completed . Three weeks later the air went out again. This time we called another company who promptly diagnosed the issue as "frayed low voltage wires"touching the capacitor ".Keep in mind the Nerthling's rep made no mention of frayed wires. My mother called to complain about the jerri-rigged job that was performed by the Nerthling's rep and compensation. The representative ( Nick) rather than apologizing for the egregious oversight pointed out that in the comments on her invoice that the " unit was in need of maintenance". Well duh... why do you think we called you? Aren't you the professionals? So you elected to do the bare minimum and jerri-rig the unit to run but somehow you managed to overlook frayed wires and leave her in an unsafe situation? You never offered up to do any additional repairs?Your representative was not thorough otherwise he would've mentioned it.Not acceptable.. look elsewhere . Very poor service! read more

They are not great. My grandmother's AC broke, and they came over and changed the freon, which costed a lot of money, but it did not fix her AC. So they told her she needed to get a completely new unit, which would be very expensive! She ended up getting a second opinion from another company (Jordan) and they tried replacing a bunch of parts & eventually got it to work. So, that means that Nerthling's tried to get her to buy a brand new unit when really she just needed a part replaced. :-/ read more

Stay away from this company. I had water in the bottom of my furnace and Nerthling's told me my old a/c was shot and I needed a new one. A new Carrier furnace and thousand of dollars later and still had the same problem. After three trips out (including one of the Nerthling's owner son) they finally determined by run off hose was clogged. I could have saved thousands of dollars had they just did their job right. I was furious and tried several times to talk to the owner and he couldn't be bothered in calling me back. Stay away from this company - bad news. read more

Nerthlings is the way to go!! My husband and I purchased a hundred year old house that needed a new furnace and central air conditioning. We were very concerned about how this would be in terms of what we needed, how this is going to work in such an older home and what financing was available. From the finances to the assessment to the installation professional, kind, personable. Even from the initial phone call when you call the office they are simply amazing! Even after everything is installed they want to make sure that everything is running smoothly. And any complications we could call them at 2 o'clock in the morning and they would make sure that they were available to help with anything that is needed. I am so impressed with them I cannot say in words express enough how much this has been such a blessing to my husband and I. If you want a new air conditioner or furnace, I highly recommend them!!
