This is the first time I've been there and I had no idea how many different items that they actually carry besides comic books. Action figures, sports cards, Toys, Games, Collectables, there was so much to see! We had come in to purchase plastic card protector sheets. The ones that have 9 slots per page, and typically go into binders. It is so hard to find these anymore ! They weren't cheap ( 30$ for 100 pages ) But they were really good quality. The owner was super friendly and helpful. I would totally return to the store when I have more time to check it out further. You should too!

I came here and bought a bunch of retro transformers and stayed for the awesome conversation with the shop owners about toys. The prices were reasonable, too, especially when you compare them online, and I was able to pick up a little Funko on my way out. They do sell a lot of Funkos, and I'm usually not the type to collect, but I couldn't resist getting Sanji. I don't see One Piece Funkos often, so I was happy to have stopped by and will likely visit again. I don't agree with the comment below that says that owner was distant/cold, but rather, he was working to display more figurines/merchandise for customers and did greet those who entered.

I found my beloved Moulin Roty toys here to give to my son. This originally is the Ages 3+ store located in Metro Town. This store is truly run by geeks for geeks! Catching up on your comics? Trying to find missing copies of your comic? This is the place to find it! It is a nice sizable store as well because it has all the comics that a geek needs. It has figurines, and vinyl toys as well! They have a decent collection of Magic Cards, and Yugioh Cards as well for those Table Top geeks! They also have a bunch of D&D products and a large selection of board games. They have tables and chairs for geeks to sit and chill and play a game after purchasing the product. Or to read a comic! The store is literally a place to hang and chill! Supplying many of these hobbies have been relegated to a few shelves in big-box craft shops like Michaels and Hobby Lobby in the US. Once I found Imperial Hobbies on Yelp during our vacation and it was near our hotel, I made my plans. I dropped my wife off for her spa day and this was going to be my spa day ;) The store is in a group of buildings almost at the end of the runway of Vancouver Airport (YVR). If you hang around, you'll see tons of airliners approaching for landings and roaring off on take offs. I just couldn't believe the selection of plastic models of planes, armor, cars and trucks along with complete selections of paint and finishing materials. It's these types of stores that I would spend hours in as a boy, but could only stare wide-eyed because I never had much money back then. But now as an adult with a job and disposable income, I probably would have gone broke if I didn't have to pack everything into my luggage to fly home. The favorable CAD$ to USD$ exchange rate also helped a lot in my shopping. I ended up with a couple of scale plastic model kits and a flying model rocket that are rare, out of production kits or very hard to find, even on-line.

Granville Island Toy Co. has been around for quite awhile. The emphasis is on quality play things, but they do have some of the latest trend items also (like Frozen dolls). The shop is nicely laid out. The displays are inviting. It is easy to find things. On my last visit, I noticed a bunch of siege engines and Da Vinci machine models on display. They were very well made and would be so fun to mess with. This store has a great selection of popular, high end toys: Playmobil, Calico Critters (I lovvvve Calico Critters), Legos, Schleich. More trendy stuff by Funko. An excellent selection of games of all types for all ages & lots of puzzles. Excellent place for stocking stuffers. They also have Corolle dolls - these are lovely for any child that wants a baby doll - they smell like vanilla, so well made & sweet looking. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. They aren't pushy. Granville Island Toy Co. offers gift wrap, gift cards and has a nice customer loyalty program. You get $5 for every $100 you spend and an invite to their annual 25% off sale. Love at first sight with this store - I was walking towards Heritage Hall after having lunch with…read morefam today and came across this store. It recently moved to this location at 16th and Main (~2 months) there are two rooms, with the front room for little kids and the back room for big kids I picked up two books for my toddler nephew and will be back for more. It's a comfy space with two chairs to cozy up for a quick (or longer?) read and on the first rainy of the season, I'm sure I'll be back soon!
