I've been sending emails to the race director since to see if someone can assist me but haven't received a response. I think being ignored is not just unprofessional but is also flat out rude. Also, none of the phone numbers associated with this organization works or allows anyone to leave a message. The website says to reach out because they "would love to help", but clearly they don't. Who would want to donate to this organization?

I really feel like I've achieved all that and then some over the past 13 years. I get to be part of raising and distributing HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS each year to needy causes. I've made lifelong friends from Kiwanis including one boss, the pastor who married me to my wife and baptized my son, and the guys I play poker with. I've gotten jobs directly from Kiwanis contacts as well as met a group of people who repeatedly do anything in their power to help me succeed. I've become a better person for my association with Kiwanis. We meet every Friday for lunch at the La Jolla Presbyterian Church and usually have a great and entertaining speaker or musical program. If you're looking for a way to get involved in the community, quality fellowship or a volunteer opportunity, La Jolla Kiwanis definitely deserves some consideration.

I've been dropping off my various donations here over the years. They take most items and give you a receipt if you ask for one. They are always super nice and helpful getting all my box's out of the car. While driving into the lot I noticed a plaque with a dedication name for the 805 freeway. It was dedicated in 1981 to Jake Dekema. He served California as the Director of Transportation for 25 years. Once you check in, they ask for your last name and you enter the room and sit there for the brief orientation. The day I came to volunteer, they started about 15-20 minutes late. This volunteer shift was only 2 hours. It was an assembly line and it was a lot of fun but very very fast pace. I appreciate the big fan because it got hot quick. I did get a cut on my finger and was able to take a short break to put a band aid on it. Everyone there was nice. Once the volunteer shift is done, they will tell you how many boxes of food was filled. And that day, we did 600 boxes! Whenever I'm back in town, I will volunteer again!
