Went last weekend to see "Wally and his Lover Boys" in the black box theatre upstairs. I had a couple of actor friends in it. A very high-quality production. So fun. And the space was so intimate you felt like you were in the story. We also hung out afterwards at the bar downstairs. Great bartenders and space. We want to come back soon for Friday night karaoke!

The theatre was surprisingly small. I liked it only because any seat you get is perfect viewing. Before the show (Head over heels), I bought a drink at the bar. Bartender was absolutely a people person! Loved his spirit. Everyone there was all smiles, and it made everyone feel at home. I only wish they they sold food. Everything else was nice. I guess I wanted a little more pizzazz. I'll most likely come back in the future for more shows.

Really lovely theater and pleasant staff. Great location, with tons of restaurants and bars nearby. There's a bar on the bottom floor/ entrance and ticket booth. They serve the good stuff. Sign up for their newsletter and get a free drink voucher. The theater itself was on the second floor, every seat is a great seat! Intimate theater. Watched A Bull in a China Shop, was wonderful!

We stopped in for Saturday happy hour, 5 to 6:30 pm. Our bartender Darrel was welcoming and the Park Boulevardier was robust and delicious. Recommended for sure, especially if you are walking distance like we are.

I usually find a spot in a surrounding area. It could be a hassle. Try a ride sharing service or taxi cab.

I love that my brain still thinks I can whip out fouettes, when in reality, I'm far from even 50% as flexible as I once was. But finding the right studio is about getting to have fun and dance. I attended a Jazz Funk class at Play Studio and it was so fun! I appreciated that the class was a challenge. This studio is suited for people with dance experience. While there are likely people here training to dance professionally, there are also people who are just here for fun. But, I like that the classes are at a level that create a challenge and keep your brain moving as you move through the choreo. I hate a boring class and this wasn't the least bit boring at all. The class moved quickly! The vibe was good and it feels like there's a nice community here. I love the variety of options they have and I'm excited to try a pom class next. The studio is located on the second floor of the building. Parking in the area is tough. Although the studio has a parking lot, there are very few spots. There are paid spots across the street, but it's tough to find a free spot, so leave yourself some time.

Our host for this show Paris continuously kept the crowd entertained with lots of laughter! I have gone to many drag show experiences, but this was probably in the top 5 for me & I would gladly attend another one on a visit back to Sd. A few negatives are although every seat is good- the table we were at sometimes caused the show lights to hit me directly in the eye so I had to divert my attention to performances. Our meal (we both ordered carne asada breakfast) was not really seasoned. I just would try something else next time I go. Overall I had a lot of fun at Lips & it's something I would highly recommend if you're in the area! Thank you for keeping the drag experience available semi locally for me!

There's literally NO bad seat in this intimate theater. I'm not exaggerating. While the balcony seats at the downtown Civic Theatre might leave you squinting at tiny figures at premium prices, here I felt like I was practically part of the show regardless of where I sat. And at these super reasonable prices? It's almost criminal how much value you're getting. Walking into their production of "Hello, Dolly!" I was immediately struck by how the modest stage might compare to larger Broadway venues. This is a place where size absolutely doesn't matter here. The creative team masterfully used every square inch of that space, with choreography that had me wondering how they fit so much spectacular dancing into such a cozy setting. Those dancers deserve medals for their spatial awareness alone! What truly sets SDMT apart is the caliber of talent they attract. This isn't just "good for local theater"--these are performers who deliver professional-quality entertainment that had me smiling from the opening number to the final bow. The acting was so engaging that I completely forgot there wasn't a traditional orchestra. Did I miss it? Not for a second. The performers commanded the space so completely that any potential limitations simply vanished. While here are no actual curtains, it didn't detract from the experience, this adds to the intimate, immersive quality that makes this theater special. You're not just watching a show, you're part of its world from the moment you take your seat. For North County residents, this place is a revelation. The easy drive and FREE parking situation (though come early, as spaces are limited and you might need to street park) makes this infinitely more accessible than the downtown venue. No parking fees, no traffic nightmares, just straight to the entertainment. Walking out after the show, I found myself repeating "wow, wow, wow" like a happy theater mantra. I'm already excited for their next production.
