I initially had a positive experience at Nevada Spine Clinic (Dr. Christopher Fisher's office), and I even left a favorable review. Unfortunately, what followed has been a complete breakdown in continuity of care and communication. I was treated for lumbar radiculopathy and lumbar spondylosis and previously underwent a nerve ablation at this clinic. As part of my treatment plan, I was prescribed a SAM (Sustained Acoustic Medicine) wearable ultrasound device. The first two prescriptions were handled without issue, and I used the device exactly as directed. It worked--I experienced real relief in both my lower and upper back. I even told PA Rosa directly that the device was helping. When it came time for a continuation prescription, the clinic abruptly refused and told me to "go back to my primary doctor at the VA"--with no coordination, no referral, and no clinical explanation. This was a treatment they initiated, yet there was no plan to ensure continuity of care. What followed was even more concerning: * I left multiple messages with Bridgette requesting a callback * I spoke with Flora, who identified herself as Dr. Fisher's scheduler and supervisor over scheduling staff. She stated she would follow up, she never did * I left additional voicemail messages and received no responses No patient should have to chase down basic communication--especially while dealing with ongoing pain. While my ablation was done some time ago, the VA had been in the process of coordinating further treatment for my upper back. After this experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning to this clinic. The result of all of this has been a gap in care, increased pain, and unnecessary stress trying to navigate something that should have been handled by the treating provider. Due to the seriousness of the breakdown in care and lack of response, I am preparing to file a formal complaint with the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners if this is not resolved. From a patient perspective, the following issues are particularly concerning: Failure of Continuity of Care: The clinic initiated and managed this treatment. Abruptly discontinuing support without ensuring proper transition or coordination with another provider represents a breakdown in continuity of care. This raises concerns under NRS 630.306(2), which defines unprofessional conduct as failure to provide medical services in a manner consistent with accepted standards of practice. Lack of Medical Justification: No clinical explanation was provided for discontinuing a treatment that had already been deemed medically necessary and was actively benefiting my condition. I communicated directly to PA Rosa as well as ancillary staff that I was receiving relief from use of the device, yet this was not meaningfully considered. This may fall below the standard of care under NRS 630.301(4). Absence of Care Coordination: I was not provided a referral, assistance transferring care or prescriptions, communication with my primary care or VA providers, or any structured plan to avoid interruption in treatment. Failure to coordinate care in this situation may constitute patient abandonment under NRS 630.3062. At this point, I am simply requesting appropriate follow-through on the care that was already initiated. Specifically, I am requesting that the clinic issue the third prescription for the SAM device. I am sharing this so others understand that while initial visits may go smoothly, follow-through and patient support matter just as much. In my experience, that is where this clinic failed. And as a side note, the front door says "exit" but it's actually the entrance to the clinic. It's very confusing for new patients. With all of the money they make, someone should get that fixed so that people are not walking around the building looking for the entrance. read more

Omg. I can't give them 0 stars. I just now read many of the reviews. If I'd known That the support staff suck, I would have NEVER used them. Support staff are actually about 90% of your interaction. you only see the doctor once or twice and that's it. Here is my review: I had an appointment and I saw the PA and the doctor for my first visit. And then my next visit was to the hospital for surgery. Then on the day that I went home, Is when I started trying to communicate with the support staff And that's when the problems started. I have to tell you without a doubt that ALL of their support staff suck and the doctors Need to just get rid of everybody and start Fresh. I have been there for followups, when there's been no clients around, And the support staff don't do anything but play on their phones. On one particular day I was in excruciating pain and I called and called And it wasn't until 2 days later that I finally got a hold of A lady who is the Doctor's girlfriend or wife. She was very nice and got my medication sent to the pharmacy right away. However, To be in pain for that long is unacceptable. Now onto Weeks later. I needed some paperwork and medication. I called and left messages and followed up with many many emails. The staff do not respond to emails Or voicemails. After days of trying to reach them on the phone and through email, I then decided that I was going to email them every 30 minutes and I told them this in an email. Yeah, they thought I was bluffing until they realized I was sending an email every 30 minutes. And then they finally reached out to me after many many many emails. Now, I was just recently released to full duty. And of course, they needed to fill one more prescription and get me some paperwork and guess what? I'm at my 5th email in 3 days with 0 responses. Come tomorrow , I will be sending them an email every 30 minutes Until they get their shit together. In closing, the 2 doctors that I ended up talking to are absolutely great But all of their support staff suck. I would recommend to NEVER use them. their reviews speak for themselves as it looks like everybody's complaining about the same thing..... staff. Update..... It took me 16 emails Within 4 hours and I got 0 responses from them during this time. It was the 17th email where they responded with my paperwork where all they had to do was check a box and put a date and sign it. Ridiculous. Ps.... This is my second surgery with Dr.Poelstra. He did a Posterior Revision L2-Pelvis and the surgery with an ACDF C6-T1 with disc replacement at C6-7. The very next day I felt like a brand new person. The pain I was having in my lower lumbar is hard to explain but, it just felt like this constant, gnawing, crunching pain that would resonate all the way down to my toes. I would tell my friends I feel like a crunching bobble spine lol. I had grown out of my old hardware and even had some broken screws in there. After being turned away by other doctors I thought I would always have to live with this pain. The only reason given was that it would be a surgery they weren't comfortable performing. I'm amazed at how quickly I've recovered. Dr. Poelstra and his staff have done something that I thought wasn't possible. Given me a whole and functioning spine with about 90% less pain. It has only been a month since the surgery but wow! I feel like I have a whole new outlook on life, excited to wake up in the morning and to be able to just walk outside and bend over knowing I'll be okay. I had a great experience with my procedure, finally. I would have done the procedure months ago, but wasn't given accurate information. I was told I had to stop ALL medication, seven days before procedure, but that was not accurate. This left me rescheduling over & over, trying to stop meds totally with no luck. I actually changed doctors because my original doctor wouldn't spend time answering my questions & rushed me out & scheduled me. He got angry with me b/c I cancelled procedure. My next appt, he refused to enter my room, refill my meds & yelled at me for wasting "all the time he dedicated to getting me scheduled". I immediately went to receptionist & asked for new doctor. As a 78-year-old man committed to an active life style, including pickleball, hiking and fly-fishing, I was very concerned about which doctor might have the right answer for my ongoing back problems, which included several issues. I was especially concerned that because of the different back problems I would need a "spinal cage" which would limit my mobility and the lifestyle I loved. Over two years my wife and I interviewed six neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons, and five of them presented essentially the same solutions that we found unacceptable, given my goals. Dr. Poelstra was different. He's a great listener and proved very sympathetic to my wishes. After a thorough consultation and review, he developed an innovative approach which addressed my problem through two surgeries conducted back-to-back (no pun intended) over two days. He and his team, when they visited me after the surgeries earlier this year, were quite confident that the surgeries had been successful and that I would be able to return to my desired life-style. Earlier this week, after rehab, PT and self-work, I'd felt I I was 90% of the way to achieving my goals. Over the last three days, for example, I have played a number of games of pickleball, worked out in the gym and completed a difficult 5.5 mile hike going from 8200 feet to 9400 feet. Today, in reviewing my progress, Dr. Poelstra suggested additional X-Rays and further suggested he do pain shots in both sides of my SI joints. Almost 2 Years ago,July 2022, at 66 years old; "My Spine was so crooked". Dr. Kornelis Poelstra,M.D.,PHD and the staff of Nevada Spine Clinic, totally "straightened my Spine, to almost" "Totally Straight"! Dr. Poelstra uses "Robotics"; "which is the Future of Medicine and almost makes the Surgery "error free"! I use to have such excruciating Pain with my Lower/Middle Back Pain. For a long time after the Surgery, still had massive pain. But as Dr. Poelstra said, "You have to give it time". Well, after a year and a half, "Totally out of Pain"! I was seen on January 30, 2025. I had an appointment with Dr. Grover, but ended up seeing his PA. His PA was great and was going to refer me for a CT. An hour after my appointment, Dr. Grovers nurse called me and said that he wanted to talk to me about my appointment. I called back two minutes later and was not able to reach them. I have called back every day since and have received no call backs. The front desk says there are no notes as to why they called and my CT referral has never been sent. So everything seems to be on hold until Dr. Grover talks with me. I would love to understand why there is so much miscommunication in your office and why a patient can't receive a call back. In the meantime I am still dealing with my back pain, life is on hold, and my appointment that I paid for seems to have been a waste of time. Saw William Baumgartl who refused to wear a mask and had a med student (I think?) listen to my entire appointment without asking my permission or introducing that person. He spoke with me for less than seven minutes and conducted no physical exam before prescribing injections and dismissing me. Never went back. December 20th 2023, I had a two day Spinal Fusion: Anterior Lumbar Surgery,Robotic. Dr. Kornelis Poelstra and all of his staff are amazing. The office crew all the way to the top. I had surgery at Southern Hills Hospital. I have not had any pain since the surgery. I had pain for so long I am feeling like a different person without the pain. Which basically he scared me into having surgery which I should have never had just by simply knowing that I have a low immune system very low because not only do I have rheumatoid arthritis, but I also have osteoporosis which I've been turned down for other simple surgeries And I consulted this with my Infection disease doctor and he said yes he's never performed the surgery well after that, he performed the second surgery and now is I ended up with an infection on my knee, which is horrendous and now he's thinking about removing the plate that he initially put there because of my femur that was broken Which I could've basically just waited it out if I would've been just laid up 2 to 4 weeks but as you probably know surgeons, don't make any money by you laying in bed so of course he's gonna scare you and say that oh you know what you're not gonna heal properly and then for he now is thinking of removing the plate as I mentioned because of the infection that he basically caused so I think 1000 times before you think of him or anybody from that group touching you do you research? I would give it a zero start rating, but one is the least. read more

Nice level of care, knowledgeable doctors and medical staff. Overall I'm pleased. There used to be a bit of a wait, but it's gotten much better. They're good doctors so make sure you schedule when leaving, appointments can be difficult to get with a good physicians. Some very nice regular staff, always very helpful with my appointments and questions. The more flexible your schedule is, it's relatively easy to get appointment if you schedule before you leave. I've been coming to this practice going on 8 years. They listen, show compassion and do not try to overmedicate you. After X-rays, appropriate examinations I was approved. I've been able to stay with just one medication, take as directed and can live a functional like. They're very patient with me not wanting surgery as well. I do get injections in my neck and back and they show very much empathy, very careful when inserting iv... just all around good experience. Very nice bedside manners. I think all of the negative reviews are not accurate. The majority was about time. Go to almost any doctor office and there will be a wait; and as far as overbooking, a meds check shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes, so booking 4 people per hour would be appropriate. Just think how the staff feels, with a bunch of grumpy, entitled, nasty people coming in just looking for a reason to be ugly to someone. Nevada Spine you do a great job! Nevada Spine on St.Rose.. Okay, as I entered, I had a 12:45 appt, considering it was almost a 40-minute commute. I was concerned if I got there in time. No greeting, no smile.. I was taken back. I always thought you're the first person that we see before the doctors. Rude. 2nd person was in a hurry, so I was placed in the room awaiting a doctor? or PA. P.A . Entered.. the whole conversation reminded me of a combat movie, sounded like an M16 going off, and she never yo a breath in between her sentence.. No reload.. I was taken back! She kept going like she knew my body! An Oh, I had to ask, did you get my x-rays? I did hear a part where, well, it might be a slipped joint! Like, wait, if I did have a slip joint, I would be in tremendous pain while walking.. Where is this lady getting all this information? She did say I needed an MRI.. Interesting appt. I'm definitely not coming back, I believe if the going gets rough in the office and you can't maintain a office with goodwill, get out of the business. Having carefully researched and read the history, the credentials, the experience, and the reviews regarding Dr. Poelstra, I called to arrange an appointment. My husband and I would be traveling from New York to Las Vegas to meet with Dr. Poelstra and to arrange robotic spine surgery with him. After our first meeting, I added another compliment to the list above...Dr. Poelstra is very personable and truly caring regarding the severe problem I was having. Essentially, due to two offending discs pressing on the lumbar L4, L5 and L5,S1 root nerve, I had severely inadequate sleep for two months! Dr. Poelstra was able to arrange the surgery as soon as possible. I am now two weeks post-surgery. The surgery went beautifully, and I have slept gloriously from the first night on! Dr. Poelstra not only cleared the two offending discs, but saw a third one that would eventually cause a problem. He addressed that as well. I have been a patient of Dr. Fisher and his PA Doug for about 5-7 years, and they do not compare at all to other pain management providers. I was in an accident 8 years ago, and fractured multiple vertebrae in my back, my pelvis, and two of my ribs, and I have tried multiple different pain management doctors, and every single one has been extremely rude, condescending, and some have even made me cry. I am very young, and have MRI's every year to see the how my back has changed, and since my parents would not allow me to have surgery in the timeframe I needed to, my back has been rapidly getting worse year by year. When I have seen other doctors, I have been discriminated against, and they wouldn't even look at my imaging reports, because they didn't believe me because I am so young (mid 20's), and it's extremely frustrating. Finding this office was a blessing to me, and I am so grateful for Dr. Fisher and Doug. I usually go to the Buffalo & Washington location, and Aaron and Sarai (I'm probably spelling that wrong) are amazing too, and very helpful to me every time that I come in. It makes such a difference to feel like I'm actually being cared for by the staff, listened to, and having my doctor actually make suggestions that work for me, unlike other doctors who have told me that I'm only having pain because I'm extremely overweight (which is not true), and that it doesn't matter if physical therapy doesn't work, and that you need to go anyways (even though I have tried physical therapy multiple times throughout these years with no relief). Just to show how much he really cares, earlier this year my father passed away at 47 years old, and when I told Dr. Fisher about this, he took the time out of his busy schedule to sit and talk with me for so long to make sure I was not only doing well physically for my follow up, but just to make sure that I was doing okay mentally as well, and that alone meant the world to me, and I'm so thankful. read more

I've been a patient here at Nevada Spine Clinic for over 10 years now and I have to say that since the pandemic those that aren't nurses (MA"s) due to the lack of nurses, the bedside manner is so below a grade A. Those that are MA"a taking on the role as a nurse you can tell they do not have that educated control not comparison toward the patients. They're lazy instead of doing the footwork the patient is. I took the oath as a nurse so I know how the office should flow. I've seen how they treat the Deaf patients that come in as well. They won't So please don't mistake me for just a patient. read more

My last two appointments have been a nightmare in this location: (Smoke Ranch) a few month ago I had an appointment in the morning I was taking forever to see the Doctor, I asked twice when was going to be my turn. because i worked graveyard and prefer to go home to sleep but they told me to wait that Dr. Fisher was seeing other patients . They kept lying to me that there was a few patients in front of me. until another patient told me he was inside and he heard Dr. Fisher was not there. after a while I asked a medical assistant and she said she worked for the other Dr. and said: " Dr. Fisher is not here yet" The other patients were upset too. I waisted my time, my gas and my sleep time that day ! of course I told them that that's not right, they have to let the patients know if the Doctor is late or not showing up so we can decide to either wait or reschedule. My most recent appointment was on Tuesday March 21 with Dr Grover for a fallow-up after my injection it was at 12:45 I was late because haven't been there in a long time and my navigator took me to a house when I was about to get there I called them to let them know I was running late but the operator was very rude and said she was going to cancel my appointment because it was 1:02 already I said Im almost there can't you understand the problem I had she said she was going to cancel so I told her then she shouldn't charge me for not showing up because she was the one canceling, in a very rude way she said:" I'm just rescheduling your appointment and there will be a fee for not showing up" I told her she was the one canceling my appointment not me and I didn't want her to reschedule any other appointment for me. I have to add that the Medical biller Teresa had contacted me earlier and told me to call my insurance so I also waisted time calling my insurance at 11:am to solve the problem plus I had a severe migraine headache since 6am that day but I went because I really needed to see the Doctor. Yes the Doctor are excellent doctors but their staff are very rude to patients and treat us as if we are there to beg or if we are getting the service for free!
