I enjoy coming to this location of The Open Book for a solo day out, and while there's isn't much…read morestaff interaction unless initiated yourself, there are fun events and book clubs that are hosted monthly :) I especially love to come when they do mini art markets with 3-4 vendors, and I've gotten some cute things while interacting with fellow artists. Also, I appreciate that they're very LGBTQ+ friendly, and I hope that I can make it to their future community mixers. Aside from that, their books are priced affordably, and I like that they recently integrated a crafting supplies section. Feel free to give this place a chance if you're looking to engage with the community or find your next read!

I really enjoy The Open Book chain. Each store has its own flavor and personality. I don't come to…read morethis location often because it's a bit far from where I live but it's always a treat when I can visit. Currently this location and the Canyon Country one are doing buy backs. I had a small stack of books to resell and thankfully they took all of them. Years ago, you had to make an appointment to sell but now you can just come in during business hours. I really like the layout of this location. It's spacious and conducive to browsing and literally getting lost in a book. The different sections have nicely themed signs. If this location wasn't so far, I'd come here regularly for their book clubs. Maybe you can go and I can live vicariously thru you.

This bookstore is absolutely adorable! It has a great selection of books across a wide variety of…read moregenres and series. They also have a small section with DVDs and CDs, which was such a fun dose of late-'90s and early-2000s nostalgia. I loved it. One of my favorite features was their "Surprise Reads" section. The books are wrapped so you can't see the cover, and each one has a short description of the story or theme instead. It encourages you to choose a book based on the synopsis rather than the cover, which I think is such a fun idea. I've discovered some fantastic books through "Surprise Reads," so I was excited to see they had a section dedicated to them. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They helped me look for a series (The Telesa or Covenant series) that I am trying to get. Unfortunately they didn't have the series but hopefully in the future. The location is great as it is at a mall close to coffee shops to grab you a book and head on for coffee or tea to read and enjoy.

Great atmosphere, cool staff, and really good book selection! Love their social media book…read morerecommendations as well - that's how they lure me into the store. I love their tote bag discount and stamp cards, and if you love books, you'll end up racking up a lot of stamp cards before being able to use them all They also host a lot of fun events like author signings, book bedazzling, and trivia nights. The store is located in the heart of The Village in Topanga and there's ample parking. If you want to read your haul immediately, you'll find a lot of seats just outside the store. The store is also pet-friendly except on days they have pet guests, and they usually post a sign outside.

I'm also glad that the narrow escalators were working when I went there, I was able to have $10.00 off my purchase and best of all I got to find three Green Grass Rabbits at the Last Chance Sale for next Easter because I didn't think they would still have those out and I was glad to advantage of the sale and when I put the three Green Grass Rabbits up in my room on my bedroom table for next Easter I'll remember getting them at the Last Chance Sale.

This place gets everything right. The selection is fantastic, the shop is clean and well organized, and it actually feels like a space designed for players, not just transactions. You can tell immediately that this isn't just a store, it's a community hub. What really sets it apart is the people. The staff are knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely care about the players walking through the door. That's not something you can fake, and it shows in how the community shows up. Whether you're brand new to TCGs or deep in the hobby, you feel like you belong there. They also do a phenomenal job supporting events and keeping the scene active. There's always something going on, and it creates that energy that great local game stores used to have, but a lot of places have lost. If you're anywhere near Simi Valley and into trading cards, this place isn't just worth checking out, it's worth going out of your way for. Absolute gem.
