My daughter and I love visiting The Open Book store, it's always very well organized employees are always so nice and helpful, the selection of books are great. The price point of everything is so good, I'm able to let my daughter pick out more books than normal. They recently moved from upstairs at the village to the first level. I'm happy to support small business.

I didn't realize it was at the topanga village until I passed by it after grabbing a bite to eat at a restaurant near by. I walked in and was greeted right away. It does feel a bit smaller compared to other locations but I did like how they had a wall full of new arrivals and the employees favorites to pick from. Every section is labeled, they even have records in the back room to the right over near the kids section.

Very cool book store. It's hard coming across books nowadays since everything is available online and digital. I don't read much anymore but it's still really cool to check out. We were in the area and decided to drop by before heading out. This is right on the second floor in the middle of the village near the escalator and parking structure. A lot of the books are pretty torn up but still in good enough condition. They have a seating area if you want to just pick up a book and read. They have a rather large selection of comics if you're looking for that but the manga section is very tiny. I didn't pay attention to the prices since we were just there briefly. Store workers are friendly and very welcoming but other than that, they kind of just chatted and did their own thing which is fine. Sometimes I just want to look around without staff bombarding me with questions and recommendations but they were available if needed. Great spot to check out! IG: @ammysalamii

First time at this book store and it won't be the last as long as they stay in business. So many great books for such reasonable prices. They had new, used and vintage books as well as some special edition titles. In the back wall they have a whole wall of books for either $3 or $5 ... I sure grabbed a few to add to my collection. I was very fascinated with the special edition titles and collectors items. Would love to get one in the future if I see something that interests me. They also have a huge selection children's books. How amazing is this place. Good customer service.

This bookstore is my new happy place! It is beautiful inside, has an incredible selection of books, and ... they are all cheap! Mostly below $10. Because they are second hand, but don't let that fool you. The books are in great condition. In the middle of this spacious good-feeling store is a selection of very comfy chairs and couches. Do homework, read, chat quietly, nap. The book sales people leave you alone to do your thing. Because the energy in here is so delightful and uplifting, I buy bags of books every time. It's like they put a spell on you ;) They also host book readings for authors like me, I am so excited!

Absolutely Amazing! Right across from Burke Williams at the village is where you can find this gem! So many types of books in the appropriate sections alphabetically they seem to have a vintage spot in the back with toys and knickKnacks that I didn't get to check out BUT I'll be back soon!

Ask the Community - The Open Book

Do they buy used books or give credit for used book donations?

They accept donations, and I got the feeling that they would have offered us some free books, but we were in too big a hurry to shop around. What an amazing place! I feel good just knowing our books will contribute to their charming, inspiring store.

It's clean, thoughtfully put together, and has a beautiful selection of books, crystals, oils, candles, incense, and jewelry. Definitely a great place to browse and take your time. The only thing that threw me off a bit was that the person at the front (near the spiral staircase entrance) was having a full dinner at the register when I walked in. I completely understand needing to eat, but it made the space feel a little less open for interaction. I noticed people, including myself, kind of just looked around quietly and moved on without asking questions or making purchases. I actually had a few things I was considering buying, but I didn't feel comfortable interrupting, so I ended up leaving without them. It might help to have someone cover the front or step away briefly during breaks so the space still feels welcoming and easy to engage with. Overall, it's a beautiful shop, just a small tweak in that area could really enhance the experience.

I am so upset!! I was counting on getting my friend crystals from there. I even said out loud as we walked out that we'd be back after dinner to buy a bunch of items. Don't expect them to be open when they say they'll be open. Bad business practice!!

Walking into CD Trader felt like stepping into a time capsule--in the best way possible. I'm from…read morethat generation where CDs and records weren't just things, they were experiences. And this place? It gets it. There's something about flipping through dusty records that just hits different. It's like walking into a thrift store and catching that mid-century smell--you either understand it or you don't. I do. I live in band tees 90% of the time, and this spot is basically my natural habitat. I've built up little collections over the years--certain genres, classics I refuse to let go of--and being here made me actually consider bringing some pieces back in. But also... you never know when the internet might betray you, and suddenly that random DVD becomes essential again. The vibe here is unmatched, super nostalgic without trying too hard. And the service? Genuinely great. Friendly, helpful, and not pushy at all. Also--fell completely in love with a Madonna T-shirt that I absolutely need in my life. Definitely coming back. Easy five stars.

I have heard of this place for a long time but never set foot in it until yesterday…read more I had a our 75 DVDs and 65 CDs I wanted to get rid of so I remembered about CD trader. The experience was fine and the sale of them went super smooth,. They were very fast checking them and having my money ready but the 2 guys behind the counter that were helping me were pretty rude and unwelcoming. Just the way they talked to me and seems very unfriendly. I've never brought items in to sell and don't know how fast they would go they them since it was a Saturday and I figured they would be busier then a weekday, I took a bunch of games to sell to GameDude a week previous and they took like 4 hours to go thru them. I literally had to drop them off and come back hours later. I didn't know if that was the norm or what. So i walked in with just my crate of CDs, because I figured I could always come back another day with the DVDs but i got called fast. Since it went quickly I figured I'd bring my DVDs in, and then I told one guy that I had a crate of DVDs to bring in also and he snapped an was like "Why didn't you bring them all in at one time?" I'm sorry I actually thought I was doing them a favor because maybe it was busy or they were short staffed. How the hell am I supposed to know? So then I brought the crate of DVDs in. I also lost my voice a few days prior and was just getting on back so my voice is pretty low at the moment l, so when I spoke to them, they were like "What? I can't hear you". Almost like I was annoying them with my low voice. I don't know if they were the owners or what, they were older guys and not some younger employee so I assume maybe owners or managers. So my point is the stores pretty cool and they have some great stuff, but the two guys in front were kinda dicks. Doubt I'll be back.
